It started with a comment by someone in my playgroup about how good Craw Wurm is. It was meant as ironic, but I couldn’t help think of how much fun Wurm tribal would be. Then my 7 year old son built a deck out of my M11 box, his win condition being a couple of wurms. I couldn’t help but enjoy his glee at dropping his Yavimaya Wurm on the table and swinging with it.
I have a few ideas for which general to use. Karador would give me the broadest base of wurms to use, including the actually good Massacre Wurm and Novablast Wurm. Someone in my group recommended Baru, Fist of Krosa. Even though you can’t use his wurm generating mechanic in EDH, his overrun ability is still relevant. But I’m going to start with Gaddock Teeg. Something about a hobbit heading up a group of wurms makes me happy. And it’ll tax my opponents at the same time.
Any particular reason for the lack of survival of the fittest? If anything it can get the big stuff out of your hand early game and allow you to find land fetching or toolbox creatures. Survival with elvish piper in play with genesis in your grave seems pretty awesome.
Yes, Wurmcalling would be in there if I use a different general. It's not like he'll be out there the whole game, so I could run it anyways. My only card I currently can't play with Teeg out is Mirari's Wake, but Academy Rector can get it.
I really like the idea behind the deck. However, there are a couple of things you have to keep in mind with something like this. First, you're going to have a lot of high casting cost dudes, which means that they are usually the biggest. Second, you're going to need a lot of ramp so that you can cast your fat.
I honestly think that you need at least 10 or 12 mana ramp/help spells. Right now you're a little short, so I would try and find room for Search for Tomorrow/Farseek/Sol Ring.
Since you're guys are going to typically be big, might as well take advantage, and include Ulvenwald Tracker. Repeatable creature kill is good. Also, I would strongly recommend that you put Hunter's Insight back in. This will often be an instant speed draw 6 or 7 that can be cast when Teeg is out. Greater Good is also awesome when you have huge dudes in play.
Saltskitter is awful. You can replace it with Dirtcowl Wurm, whom I've seen get huge in multiplayer games. (edit- oops, looks like you already have it) Other options include Havenwood Wurm (combat trick! no one expects fast wurms!) or Plated Slagwurm.

A lot of good points. Ulvenwald Tracker is perfect. He'll let me kill almost anything. You're probably right on Hunter's Insight, especially with a lot of trample going on.
I can't deny Tooth and Nail would be good in here, I just can't stand the card. Maybe Defense of the Heart as a more conditional version.
Quicksilver Amulet can't be played with Gaddock Teeg, but I also don't want to limit myself too much. He's not going to be on the table very long I'd imagine.
Flashy and hexproof wurms are good. Will have to consider those. Thanks for the ideas.
If you're not too attached to Gaddock Teeg, Mayael the Anima seems a very obvious choice for wurm tribal. Her ability is highly relevant for wurms and GT is not very fun to play against (I'm assuming this wurm deck is just for fun).

I thought about Mayael. You're right, she is very relevant to any fatty themed deck. As 'fun' as Tempting Wurm might be, in my group I'd just be handing the game to everyone else. If I had a creature heavy meta, it would be fun to fill the board up with critters, but it'd result in every taxing artifact/enchantment you can imagine hitting the battlefield at the same time. Yech.
This deck is supposed to be fun, but Gaddock is a meta call for my playgroup. He'd act more like a ramp engine of sorts, slowing everyone else down while I get some wurms to swing with. There's not a lot of creatures played in my group.
The thing is there's a running joke in my group about how good/bad wurms are. That the typical 'bad' magic player drops a wurm with trample and swings all day. So yes this is sort of a joke, but a joke that I want to make as capable as possible.
"Did I just get killed by a bunch of wurms? Holy cow, I did."
And again, the image of a hobbit leading a group of wurms cracks me up. Although for LOTR fans, a hobbit should probably lead a bunch of treefolk.

I forgot about Symbiotic Wurm. I even have one from the precons. That would be pretty good with Mentor of the Meek out. Took out Hunter's Insight for it.
I don't have a Survival of the Fittest is all. Kind of $$ to get for a goofy wurm deck, though I'm sure I'd find other uses for it.

When you're running Novablast Wurm and Avacyn, Angel of Hope, you need to cheat them out with Tooth and Nail. And Genesis will help you get stuff back from your yard if you have Novablast out without Avacyn. And if you're running Elvish Piper, might as well get Quicksilver Amulet in there as well.

Saltskitter is bad, unless I have Soul of the Harvest or Garruk's Packleader out. Two card unreliable draw combo though. Yeah, better stuff to put in.

Charnelhoard Wurm (requires BRG)
Endless Wurm
Havenwood Wurm
Plated Slagwurm
Shivan Wurm
Tempting Wurm (very fun effect)
Witherscale Wurm
