So I submitted a Doran build awhile back. After the release of New Phyrexia, I decided to alter my decklist a bit. I've changed it quite a bit since my last build, and I added some cards that I thought were more relevant for the deck.
I've never been a fan of a pure beat-down strategy in EDH. I mean, if someone drops something really scary its nice to be able to deal with it. That's why I've kind of emphasized removal a bit more than a few of the Doran builds I've seen. (Let me take a moment to mention how much I love Austere Command...) The creatures all do something productive as well (mostly more removal and pump.)
There is a lot of graveyard recursion to survive the inevitable board sweeps that happen at one point or another. Also, bringing back a Bone Shredder or a Qasali Pridemage over and over again is really REALLY funny to me.
I originally had Damnation in place of Life's Finale, but I realized that I can consistently get 6 mana very easily and hardcore hating on someone else's deck is just hilarious especially if I drop Teneb, my next turn.
I took out Indomitable Ancients for Elesh Norn (Lady Gaga) simply because Elesh Norn pumps my stuff like crazy and she still swings for 7 vigilance if Doran is out. Pretty clutch if you ask me. I had considered adding the black preator, but I can't really find room for her.
I know a big, huge, fat weakness of my deck is land destruction. Ruination wrecks my mana base something awful. This is kind of a problem since land d is not uncommon in my meta. It's for this reason that I have Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers instead of Gaea's Cradle, because, in my experience, that card makes you a huge target for land hate.
This deck is also kind of slow sometimes. Getting the right combination of colors can sometimes be difficult. In a perfect world, the filter lands would all be Bayou, Scrubland, and Savannah respectively.
Behemoth Sledge is not really working as well as I'd like it to. Any suggestions on what I could replace it with? Perhaps another Sword?
Thoughts? Suggestions are appreciated. If anyone wants me to post my old decklist for reference purposes, I'd be happy to do that.
