Ive been wanting to put together something like this for a while now. I really like BUG, but Ive been having trouble putting a good EDH deck to gether using its colors due to the limited general seclection of Vorosh, the Hunter. The idea for this deck is to get your fatties into play without paying for them by using cards like Defense of the Heart and Elvish Piper The list I have put together right now seems to only have blue as an afterthought and I would like it to be a stronger color in the deck. All comments and criticism are appreciated.
Counterspells are generally weak in multiplayer. If you want to play them, I suggest using the 'cool' counterspells (that also 'cheat' creatures on the battlefield on your side :)): Spelljack, Desertion, Overwhelming Intellect, Draining Whelk and Commandeer.
For fatties I love using Inkwell Leviathan. It is hard to kill and is unblockable a lot. I also like Woodfall Primus. If you put him to play quickly you put them behind on lands, and even if they do kill him he persists back and you get rid of another land. Stormtide Leviathan is nice against aggro decks and he is even unblockable. Riptide Shapeshifter is a way to cheat creatures into play. Lurking Predators works to. Even if you don't hit a creature you effectively scry 1.
If they're going to print old flavor bad cards, I think they should reprint Yawgmoth's Bargain. It wouldn't even see play, since at 6 mana, you want to affect the board immediatly and play a super good Titan that taps permanent down. And I mean, wth? It makes you lose life and your free draw each turn. It would just be another junk mythic with all the morons saying "bad in constructed, but will fit right in my X edh deck."
I made some changes. I took out the counterspells, added some fatties, and took out some other stuff that seemed kind of needless. Let me know what you guys think
I don't think you have enough support creatures to justify Dread Return. The fact that it is sorcery speed locks you out of using it response to a sweeper. I would consider Necromancy in that slot instead as it also can target an opponent's graveyard. Exhume can also help your opponents in some situations. Personally I find it too situational.
Alot of your cheating into play comes from your hand. I'm not sure you have quite enough draw to be consistant. You also definitely need alot more tutor to optimize this approach. I much prefer to strictly use the graveyard to cheat from and just use my hand to improve my board position and control.
As for "cheating" creatures into play from your graveyard, a good way to do it is with draw/dump spells and creatures: Reckless Scholar Magus of the Bazaar Merfolk Looter Looter il-Kor Enclave Cryptologist Cephalid Broker Cephalid Looter Catalog Frantic Search Sift
The little support creatures not only fill your graveyard, but they double as fodder for Victimize which is a reanimator bomb. This also opens the door for ultimate graveyard silver bullet - Living Death.
Draw/Dump and even self-mill are efficient ways to load your graveyard, but the best way is to just Traumatize yourself. If you run Trinket Mage, you can always tutor Elixir of Immortality in case things don't go as planned and you need to reset. Having the Mage toolbox to tutor not only for the Elixir but for Sol Ring, Map, Vault, and Pithing Needle makes him really diverse.
As for protecting your graveyard from cards like Tormod's Crypt and Relic of Progenitus, I run Trickbind and Voidslime.
If you want, check out the Vorosh link in my sig. The self-reanimator version is in the spoiler under the main decklist..
After looking over your deck list I'm thinking about dropping most of the reamimator effects. It seems that I would need to commit the deck to just that and I would prefer to avoid putting too much in my grave. Im also trying to avoid toolboxing too much, I run Momir and Arcum and my playgroup hates me for it, this is also for casual multiplayer so I'm keeping that in mind as I put this list together. That being said though, I really really like your suggestions and I think that the reanimator version of Vorosh is epic.
Cool. Thanks.
Holding onto a Reanimate and/or Animate Dead isn't a bad idea because they also nab stuff from opponent's graveyards, but I could see cutting all the other ones. I guess if you aren't running alot of tutors, Buried Alive goes too then.
I would fill those vacated slots with removal, land fetch sorcery, draw, or control - whichever compliments your play style the most.
Personally, I'm a fan of utilityremoval.
There's also going to be mono black control with Geth the deck will be frequently playing against, so I'm hesitant to do too much from the grave. I think I will fill the slots with more draw power and creature removal since no one other than the Geth deck will be running control
Draw is always good. I highly recommend Phyrexian Arena and Recurring Insight - the two best draw spells in the format aside from Consectrated Sphinx, which all too often tends to get removed, cloned, or stolen. The Arena is strictly better though as an early game tutor target. Late game it can be sort of a dud. I immediately tutor the Arena in just about every game I play.
Sylvan Library and Mirri's Guile provide incredible advantage too and being enchantments they are more resilient than Sensei's Divining Top. The top is another over-powered card that players tend to blow up asap. Personally, I don't like to draw too much attention early game, and things like the Sphinx, Top, Eldrazi, and now the Praetors often incite the table to conspire against you..
... I just noticed that you already have the top in your build, lol. I guess if you got it, play it! Trinket Mage seems so good for your deck with top, map, vault, and ring. I'm curious why you don't want to play it? Throw in Pithing Needle, Skullclamp and maybe Elixir of Immortality and you have a full toolbox!
Trinket Mage is defiantly going to be put in, Im just having trouble deciding what to cut out for it. Is there anything you think that needs to come out?
I would cut Armillary Sphere. I feel it's a pretty weak fetch given that you are in green and can cast Explosive Vegetation and Skyshroud Claim instead. I think this is one of the weakest cards in your deck.
Deck looks much better btw - very creative approach to Vorosh.
The sphere is way underpowered. I added Explosive Vegetation and it helped out a lot with. Thanks for all your input guys, I am really liking how the deck runs

Also, I think you don't play enough fatties. You want them in your hand for most 'cheating' cards, so you better have them there I think Deep-Sea Kraken (nice to reanimate, can also be 'cheated' onto the battlefield with suspend :p), Demon of Death's Gate (also has a cheat ability), Grozoth (if you have multiple fatties that cost 9 mana), Inkwell Leviathan, It That Betrays, Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, Spirit of the Night, something like that
Also, I think that Artisan of Kozilek is a nice reanimator spell
More card draw is also good. Concentrate, Mind Spring, Stroke of Genius, Blue Sun's Zenith, Memory Jar, stuff like that.
I also miss something vital: mass removal! I think you should play at least 2-5 mass removal spells: Damnation, Oblivion Stone, Plague Boiler, Nevinyrral's Disk, Plague Wind, Inundate, Evacuation, Decree of Pain, Hurricane/Squall Line/Corrosive Gale/Wing Storm, Mutilate, Infest, etc...
Random other spells you could consider: Demonic Tutor/Diabolic Tutor, Beast Within, Phyrexian Metamorph (Clone 2.0 :)), Brutalizer Exarch...
You play 32 land. That's not much...I would suggest playing 37-40 land.
Stuff I think your deck could do without:
Veteran Explorer
Prophetic Prism
Khalni Gem
Phyrexian Delver
Bound/Determined
Zoologist
Braids, Conjurer Adept
Careful Study
Thieves' Fortune
All the current counterspells
Glissa, the Traitor (Yes, she's cool. But not in this deck)
Seedborn Muse (depends on how hard you need your mana in other turns. Otherwise it mostly just give vigilance :p)
I hope this helps

Solemn Simulacrum - ramp and card advantage
Duplicant - removal creature
Pelakka Wurm - life gain and card advantage (fat body too)
You could also use some more spot removal
putrefy
maelstrom pulse
beast within
pawgnify
lignify
And of course a few board wipers
damnation
ect.
UBR Thrax
Standard: B/r Vampires
EDH: Momir Vig
