Pretty bad matchup for Goblins IMO. I don't know if its really all that competitive otherwise but the field seems to be flooded with them right now. Young Wolf seems to have helped this deck a lot.
For the most part this deck should just fold to storm. MBC should give it a hard time. Not sure about MUC.
What do you guys think of it?

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
I watched a player run this last night in the daily against 4 goblin decks in a row (I was round 1).
He wen't 2-0 and then 2-2 finish which is pretty typical.
The difference was all Sparksmith and Burn vs Rancor and Groundswell.
Whoever draws thiers wins.
I know most of them do play sandstorm, but I notice this guy is planning on a lot of mirror matches.

I like this deck and it's definitely surging in popularity right now. I'm not sure if people just forgot about it or if young wolf is really good enough as a 3-of to push it over the edge.
As far as matchups mono blue control is a hard one, but then again mono blue control is not seeing much play right now. Delver is so-so but I think the matchup favors delver especially if you're on the draw and they can flip a delver on turn 1 or 2 and you have no answers (post board that is, pre board you have no answers except being faster than them). Spellstutter sprite is very good against all this deck's one-drops also.
Mono black is a hard matchup getting past their discard and removal.
Goblins is winnable definitely but it's close and comes down to who plays first and who draws more burn/pump.
It's good against post depending on how much removal they're playing.
I donno, I'm doubtful that this will become >10% of the metagame as far as 3-1 or better decks in dailys go. Right now it is, but it's a very vulnerable deck if it becomes established enough for people to use sideboard slots against it.
I think it is the most playable of the mono-colored aggro decks at the moment... I do find it a bit interesting that it is just now coming to light as a strong deck because I feel while the addition of Young Wolf is great, its not so great as to account for the increase in showings... I will say that I find it frustrating to compete against lol but that's good news because it means the deck is legit
I find morbid difficult to use, but Hunger of the Howlpack is probably the most playable mono-green +1/+1 counter instant card in pauper. The thing is, in a mono-green deck, you don't have any sort of burn or removal to really make this Instant shine. A +3/+3 instant spell is definitely something you want to abuse as a trick during combat, but with with mono-green aggro, you're relying on combat phase deaths to apply it anyway.
Shrug. I wouldn't scoff at it's use, but I'm not sure I'd like to use it.
Hunger of the Howlpack effectively wants you to splash red for burn, which isn't going to work. You might as well play Travel Preparations and splash white for the flashback. Again: Aggro decks with more than one colour have a hard time due to the mana being very bad.

On average, Magic players are worse at new card evaluation than almost every other skill, except perhaps sideboarding.

This is basically what I was trying to say. As far as a mono-green +1 counter instant, it's the only card you have a chance of getting +3/+3 from in pauper ... but you're never going to use it that way.
I don't want to derail this thread, and definitely keep it mono-green aggro, but I just wanted to mention that I've been having some casual success playing with a GR Aggro deck that maybe some of you guys have seen pop up in some top8's. It's basically red burn + Blastoderm and a hodgepodge of little evasive green creatures like maybe River Boa or Jolrael's Centaur. I'm definitely testing this card in that deck.
Hunger has actually seen several postings, but never as more than like a 2x choice... it shows up in Infect now and then as well
I like it, I personally don't think morbid is that bad to try and obtain, but it is harder in a MGA deck... hitting the morbid makes the card less of a combat trick and more of an after combat thought instead
the guy is a pro grinder...really good and still playing the deck...The article is a bit old, but the general idea is there and you just have to go watch for mtgo results for updated list the guy is 3-1, 4-0 almost everytime you'll see that some mu that seems bad are not that bad after all when you fully understand how to sb. Also, since half the competition is delver or faeries, this deck is just too afst and too good for them, especially post board. Ill try to post a list when ill come back home
