Besides the fact that the concept of these decks is repugnant, playing against them in Arena is more trouble than it's worth. With the surveil mechanic and graveyard exiling and constant discarding, every dimir player takes roughly 8 minutes per turn and the games just drag on forever. It's the nly deck where I will concede even if I think I can get a win down the road because I would rather play 4 or 5 other games than slog through one dimir *****fest. I gotta say I'm not a huge fan of this standard meta so far.
Not sure how things are in Constructed Standard, but in Limited, its just such a strong archetype, you will always run into it a few times. I'm not playing 'real' standard until I have a deck built up and I'm not spending money so that is taking some time.

I feel like already with this release standard's power levels have gone through the roof. Nearly all of the top decks are like 85% GoR cards. It's absurd.
I cant speak for the Arena platform, but as someone who has UB control built irl, turns dont take any longer than any other control deck
Compared to a lot of decks, on Arena, Surveil does take extra time. Its a trigger (multiple) per turn, with additional thinking per turn, and then MORE triggers based on whats on the field.

I can see where the OP is coming from.
Entirely possible. But I think this is an argument more for why Arena is a poor platform than it is about UB Control and/or Standard (fwiw this is just another in a long list of gripes ive heard about Arena)
Yes and no. It would be no faster in MTGO, except in MTGO you can auto resolve things. I'm not sure if I missed a way to 'set' a resolution answer in Arena?
This is a lot about who you are playing against too.
I have a UBr control deck that I play and I take my turns quickly. There is not that much more thinking.
Could be the people you play against don't pay enough attention to click "pass" right away when something comes up, or lag on their end (or yours) makes it take longer for actions to occur.
