I support the idea that Modern isn't as bad as people think - this sums it all up rather well. Honestly players like to complain about everything - outside of suggesting removal of more "fast mana" cards, I don't see a need for a big changes in modern right now. http://modernnexus.com/addressing-modern-critics/
Id like to see Preordain unbanned, and wizards to continue to print 1-2 good fair cards a set like they have been since rtr. It will tske time, but we will get fair decks to the point we want them without alienating more players through bans. In the meamtime, the format is nowhere near as bad as all of the naysayers on the internet put it out to be. I love it, it heavily rewards tuning to your meta and tight play is a must every single game
Props for finally making a thread for this, hopefully now people can get their complaining out of the metagame and banlist threads.
While Modern is a very good format I think calling it perfect isn't right. It IS true that linear aggressive decks are favored, but the kind of extreme solutions often proposed aren't a good idea.
For the record, I don't think complaining will ever cease until a true pure hard-control draw-go play-only-during-the-opponent's-turn-and-counter-everything-or-draw-cards centered on blue exists and is at minimum tier 2. Also for the record, I don't think a deck like that ever will be able to exist in the format.

RIP Magic Duels. Wizards will regret what they did to you.
I personally feel that modern needs a few more maindeckable police cards, because even though its fine from a meta% standpoint, it still does have its unbalances. modern being 10% less linear would be a good start, maybe even more control too. And I feel blue could use a little help( either proactive or reactive), although I worry how that could be possible since bans aren't happening soon, nor unbans, and standard is a rough place to enter powerful police cards(could warp standard).

how is jeskai nahiri doing for you? ( not to be sarcastic, actually genuinely interested in comparing notes as I play this on xmage right now)

About the same as any other URx deck i play, typically go 3-1 with an overall 57% mwr at fnm's. Sometimes go 2-2, sometimes go 4-0. Never feel like i never had a chance, but have semi-retired the deck for grixis delver as a completely reactive strategy such as nahiri (was a twin player before, the tempo pestermite strategy is still my favorite deck ive ever played)
Had poor success for a minute when large amounts of lingering souls popped up locally, remedied with izzet Staticaster, 2x explosives, rest in peace in the side and 1x electrolyze in the main
There's a strong variety of viable decks, but a limited variety of viable strategies.
Certain archetypes (blue-based control/tempo decks) are having a difficult time. Most interaction is just too slow for what the current decks are doing.
The top tier decks generally reward skillful play and the games can be interesting to watch.
Does that constitute a problem? I think it does, to some degree, but the people who like playing all-in decks are going to herald this as a new golden age, free from the tyranny of open blue mana. I'd like to see the format slow down a bit, or for a new police deck to appear. But that's me. Maybe some people like it being the wild west of Magic.
Modern's like that old friend of yours from high school who lives in a sketchy apartment and does MDMA every night. He's fun to hang out with, if you can keep up with him, but don't expect him to change his lifestyle and don't get too attached.
This thread is DOA. It's a mix of banlist discussion, reprint discussion, new card discussion, and general complaining. Three of those topics already have threads, one of them violates a rule outside of its thread, and the other has no place in the forum at all. If someone can PM me and the other staff with a structured plan to keep a thread like this helpful and on-topic, we're all ears. But for now, this is getting shut down.
