Leyline of Sanctity used to be an auto 3-4 of in numerous sideboards due to it's versatility in matchups like: UWR control, Jund/Abzan, Scapeshift, Lanturn and Burn. Come 2016 and this card is all but absent from many sideboards even before Eldrazi winter. Is this due to those decks not being that prevalent? Is it because of Nacatl burn catching on?

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.
I use 3 in any deck that depends on synergies between cards IF I'm in a metagame with at least 10% BGx Midrange. But I do agree it's largely fallen out of favor. A part of this is definitely Burn being relatively decent against Leyline. Another part is the Modern sideboard construction which favors diverse, 1-2 card bullet-answers to numerous matchups. Leyline can feel overly committed, even if I think it's more versatile than many give credit.
Currently, the main issue is the complete lack of "target player" spells due to the eldrazi menace.
Eldrazi has TKS as the sole card that can target a player and even without the ability, it can be a 4/4 for nothing.
The recent shift in the meta also excludes these spells hence the lack of Leylines in the sideboard.
Right now, either you play absolute aggro, absolute control or versatile combo. None of which actually targets players or finds ways around it.
Once the eldrazi menace is gone (or at least attenuated), there should be a rise in burn, targetted discard and player oriented combo. Only then will it be relevant.
If you follow its cost trend, either it will die out or it will spike dramatically. With SOI, I am not quite sure where it will stand as discard could be used against players with madness and delirium being a thing.

Yes but even before eldrazi winter stared Leyline has been falling out of flavor.

While replying I was ready to jump at the price of the card but held my tongue. It actually went down online. However, in my Canadian market it went up. But that wouldn't justify it.
I'd be curious to see the data that addresses this while also looking around at what else went up.
I still run them in my Ad Nauseam deck as discard is pretty much the worse thing that can kill us...
Burn is absent from the meta. Scapeshift is even more absent from the meta than before. I would estimate it went down from 2% to 0.2% played. The meta is all Aggro, even without Eldrazi. It simply isn't good enough vs. most decks while doing absolutely nothing vs. more than 60% of the decks played.
Many decks (not the ones who are trying to only turn 0 it) simply can't cast Leyline. Not to mention there are 172307824 Aggro decks that kill you by turn 4 and your Leyline does nothing against 5 creatures.

I run leyline of sanctity in the sideboard of my Griselbrand deck still, but it does often feel like a wasted SB slot currently. The only time I feel like I want to board n it in is against discard heavy decks or decks with some sort of burn / targeted damage finish. I also run 8 discard spells in the 75, so sometimes I am not even sure leyline is all that needed.
Perhaps post Eldrazi it will become more relevant again.
