We are 63 days out (as of today) from Modern Weekend!
What are you playing, what do you expect to be the biggest breakthrough deck, want to cash the event or try to get Top 8?
For those who have never attended a GP or haven't traveled to a large event before, what can we expect or need to prepare for?
For people living in LA/Charlotte, what are some good food spots/hotels, ect.

Ill be playing Jund, ive been playing a GB midrange deck ever since my Pod deck got banned. It looks pretty good in a no-Eldrazi world. Tron is annoying but we have SB slots.
I have 4-5 GP Trial events going on around me for LA and most are pretty small stores. Im gonna go try to spike one for some byes.
The only other Grand Prix i have ever been to is GP Sacramento and that was a Draft/Sealed GP and i was only there for trading/site seeing. Its easy to get lost in it, i spent 3 whole days, from morning til night every day, just trading, buying, playing with friends, seeing how they were doing in the event. Just have to remember to eat well, sleep, not go on tilt, and try my hardest. My goal is getting to Day 2, anything beyond that would blow my mind. Though starting off with 3 byes is pretty good if i just want to make day 2.
Personally, having never been to LA, I am looking for some advice/opinions on hotels and restaurants in the area.

Since it's near the Staple Center, I suggest somewhere cheaper in the Asian areas of Monterey Park, Alhambra, El Monte, Montebello, San Gabriel. You can get to the Staple Center relatively quick in those areas. And the Asian food there is amazing, with easy access to Mexican food in Altadena, East Los Angeles, and Covina. It's also close to staple American food as well.
Hmmm this seems really, really early for a thread about this. Normally our major event threads start no more than a 3-4 days before go-time. We don't even know the April bans yet.
Going to lock this. We can restart this closer to the main event. If anyone truly believes it needs to stay open, PM me and we can talk.

That said I'll be going in as Merfolk. But I always wanted to try a home rouge brew and see how far I can get with it.
