We have decided to change the way we handle these situations. We will no longer cancel an order before contacting a customer beforehand and offering to let him/her keep 8x of the card and provide a partial refund on shipping and a full refund on the extra cards. We will also refrain from using the term "speculator" as it came off in a negative way in our e-mail and I regret using that term.
As a long term solution I am looking into a way for our software to automotically only show up to 8x of a card available to buy or possibly another solution so that we do not have to have this issue come up anymore.
I appreciate everyone that gave constructive feedback on how we could have handled this situation better and we are always looking for ways to improve not only as a business but also in the way we handle our customers.
Since we have changed our policy I'm also crediting Brian's account with enough credits to buy 8x of the cards under the new price and cover shipping.
He may look that way, but that doesnt mean he is a shill. Just like anyone else who posts here, its just as likely that the person was very happy with their transaction and decided to let us know about his experiences. The same could be said of anyone posting positively for any store. Im sure you could potentially call any of them the same as well, but that doesnt make it true however. Personally If I was the person potentially being called a shill I certainly wouldnt be too happy about the person doing such and would likely take offense to it. But since its not me, I suppose we'll never know. From the sounds of it though most people's experiences with them are generally positive and I know Ive dealt with MTGO Traders in the past numerous n umerous times for tix and other things on mtgo and never had a bad experience. You are of course free to comment just like we all are, but you should probably stick to speaking directly about the business itself and not speak out against those that are speaking for or against the business that is being discussed. Just some advice.
Jeff maybe you missed the part where this forum is unviewable unless your a member. Literally the only way to view this thread is to be a member. Heath has someone who wins a 300 dollar contest and turns around and asks them to "judge me fairly in this forums thread that you arent a member of".
I to have dealt with mtgotraders, and they are a reliable business, with good customer service, in fact thats why im not talking about their business, because there really isnt anything to talk about with them in terms of negative, and the positive is already being said.
Wasnt cape fear games the place that cancelled an order because they felt the buyer was a speculator? Maybe we should get that retired thread merged here as well. I know it's kept me personally from ever considering an order from cape fear. I do only trade mtgo cards/tix with mtgo bots primarily however.
Yes that was us and we have since changed our policy. No company is perfect and our retail store was less than a year old when that happened. I have learned from it and agree it was not handled the way it should of been. I worked things out with the customer and we came to an amicable solution. I care a lot about our reputation and will go out of my way to make sure things are dealt with that need to be changed.

I've ordered twice from Cape Fear and been extremely thrilled both times. Orders placed by Wednesday are always here in time for FNM. I'm also happy to see a store that understands what NM/M means!
I have never dealt with Cape Fear Games, but I use MTGOTraders almost exclusively for Magic: the Gathering Online.
Prices are equal to or less than competition. Service is fast. I've ordered cards and had them in my virtual binder in minutes. They seem to care that I've purchased cards for them.
They are out of stock on some cards that are "hot", but I expect it in this digital marketplace, and bide my time.
I cannot think of another vendor with whom I have had such a great relationship. I applaud them for repeatedly delivering both low-cost product and excellent customer service.
I buy from them even when the cards I want are a little pricier than the competition. Orders through Cape Fear arrive a solid 2-3 business days sooner than anywhere else I've shopped.
That situation has been long resolved and is from months ago. Do you have any new issues that you wanted to bring up? I personally find their current policies to be fine after they worked through the situation. Also I believe that would be more than 2 playsets? Figure if you are going to try to make a point that it should at least be an accurate point (just saying).
I love this site. I used to host Player Run Events (PRE's) and I asked the owner, Heath, to sponsor my tournament. He gave us over 15 dollars worth of credit a week. I almost exclusively use this site because of their great service and great prices. Try them out, you won't be disappointed.
Cape Fear has been nothing less than fantastic on all my singles orders. They have competitive pricing, great stock for EDH goodies and they ship very, very fast. They are my go-to source for singles and I highly recommend them, especially to new players looking to build their EDH/Commander collection.
I recently sold them $1100.00 in mtgo product and to avoid paypal fees had them send me a check after handing over the items. Check arrived 3 days later without any problems! I trust them.
I am local to Cape Fear Games, and have dealt with them many times. I do much more selling than buying, and my buylists are always processed in just a few minutes' time.
If I do need a card for a deck, they have it in stock much more often than not, and at very competitive prices.
Decided to sell my MTGO collection and had MTGO Trader guys appraise it. Was happy with the offer and thought it very fair, so I took it. Everything went very smoothly and I am extremely happy with how everything turned out. Received payment withing a very timely manner. Will definitely do business with these guys again.
Just recieved my order with Cape Fear and was very pleased with the results. Since I paid by check they even called me at one point just to alert me about the situation and that it would be able to ship once the payment got through. Overall a very good experience.
I buy pretty much exclusively through MTGOtraders.com They not only usually always have the best "going rate" price around they are always well stocked and really effective when it comes to customer service.
I had a few issues. Nothing on their end, mostly paypal's end. But we always resolved the issues really quickly.

I just want people who redraft to admit this:
"I can't draft objectively unless I am able to guarantee that I receive at least 3 rares. I am also better than most average/new players so I want to make sure that I get the best rares and they end up with worse ones. I care more about the monetary value of cards than actually playing the game for decent prizes."
I just got my first order form Cape Fear Games. So far they have been great. Not only did they have cards for decent prices but they sent me a coupon for the next purchase. I will definitely use them again.

I have not used Cape Fear Games, but have used MTGO traders many times. For buying and selling, you get a lot more than just going to a bot. Keeping an eye on the hotlist they are buying from is a good idea from a drafter. It is good to use also when you need a hard to find card, while a bot simply won't have any in stock, MTGO Traders will go looking for what you need, much improved service over simply looking for what you need, then typing "done" at a bot.

I read the forums a lot but I'm not really into posting a bunch.. I hate getting trolled. But I saw the post in here about MTGOTraders and thought I would give my 2 cents. I just got back into magic a few weeks ago and I used them before I quit. They have people staffed all the time so whenever I buy something from their site.. someone is there in just a few minutes to trade me up what I need. I haven't had a bad experience yet, hopefully they don't let me down.
Every experience I've had with their staff has been positive. The only down side I've come across is that the credit on their buy bot is useless until you have a full tix worth. It should transfer to the sell bots w/o problem, but for some reason (other than to hold assets I hope) they choose not to.

If you pm us in game we will happily move it over to the sell bots. It's a programming restriction and we hope to have a solution eventually. If you do sell cards using the "hotlist" on our website the left over credit does go directly to our sell bots.

Fatshark, it's not up to you to decide 'what doesn't add up'. You accuse him of the same thing back in Oct 2010 and do the same thing here. This is your last/only warning to stop.
