Back before Commander's Arsenal got it's amazing hype, I pre-ordered two from them for $70 per. While I was at it, I went ahead and pre-ordered a box of RTR 'cause why not?
Well, apparently the first RTR box got "lost in the mail" (I never even received an e-mail about shipping confirmation, so I'm not entirely sure they ever sent this one). I contacted them and they said they'd send me another. With the release date of Commander's Arsenal looming and 'cause I'm such a great guy, I told them to hold it for a few days and send it along with the Arsenals to save themselves some shipping cost.
Date rolled around, they informed me they "hadn't gotten their full shipment" of Arsenals but my box was on the way (they did provide tracking this time). They said I could either hold out for the rest of their shipment or they'd refund me. Yeah, as long as I've got a clear line of communication with these guys I'm not letting them refund me $140 for what's worth significantly more than that.
So I durdled around until the date they said they'd be receiving the rest of their arsenals, still nothing. Sent an e-mail yesterday, they responded at 1 AM and claimed that their shipment had been held up by UPS and would be delayed. So that's where I am right now.
I'm pretty confident that no store got multiple shippings of that product. During preorder, they claimed to have 10 for sale total with 8 remaining when I ordered, making me theoretically number 6 and 7. I figure they're either trying to stall me out until I take the refund or scrambling to get a bunch to fill their orders. Has anyone else had much experience with these guys, particularly where their Commander's Arsenals are concerned?

Did you need someone here to tell you that you are never getting your order? OK, I will be the guy. You are never getting your order. I haven't dealt with these people, but they are a business. They could have sold it to SCG for almost $200 when the Arsenals first came out. If it was your LGS with a personal connection to you, that would be one thing. No way an online store is sending you this at MSRP.
In summation.....Star Trek wins a prolonged naval battle against superior, yet less technologically advanced, numbers, with Picard leading the assault, while Kirk takes your soul by laying out Solo and probably his manservant Chewy as well, before impregnating and ditching your Princess.
Many card shops online have been guilty of pulling back orders and products that shot up and relist them on their site. Sadly, there's nothing we can really do about it. The best thing you can do is leave this here for others to see.

I'm in the same boat as you and pretty much have assumed the same (stalling or scrambling). All my research points toward them being a legitimate store/business, so I'm not really concerned that I won't at least get my money back. I knew that was a possibility when I pre-ordered.
I've also had similar correspondence with them about CA, so at least they're consistent. Last email response I received was last night around 1am:

They are on their way to us. Your patience shall be rewarded
I wrote back this evening asking for an ETA on a shipment date to me (I assume, if they're being honest, that they have tracking to indicate when their "shipment" will be arriving). I'll post to this thread with an updated status when anything changes.

That's good to hear. Please update us so we know about their service if it does/doesn't work out!
Im in the same boat. I got the same email from them saying that the shipment was delayed, and that they would ship last week. I called them last Friday, they said that I have to talk to the "online" department. Called the online department, no answer, left a message, no call back. Called the store again and told them that no one is picking up the phone, and was told "Oh, they are out of town until tomorrow". Sent them another email today, no response yet.
I know Im getting the runaround--they should just issue refunds if they dont intend on getting us the arsenals.
I know Im getting the runaround--they should just issue refunds if they dont intend on getting us the arsenals.
That's the main thing that makes me think they still might come through. It seems like it would just be easier to issue the refunds than string customers along and deal with all the correspondence. Unless they don't intend on giving refunds either, but I don't really think that's the case.
I'll likely pursue the refund if I don't get some positive news (i.e., tracking #) next week.
They've already offered me a refund, which I promptly turned down in favor of waiting it out.
I feel pretty comfortable with the whole situation cause they have a brick and mortar location, which offers some credibility in my opinion. Not only that, their online store is done through a large store database thing, kind of like amazon. Prior to making my order I contacted their customer service and asked what they would do if the store ripped me off and they said that they would cover it.

Here's some additional info based on an email exchange I had with them this morning. Basically trying to prod for as much information as possible while remaining conversational and not coming off as a jerk.
Quote from "Me" »
Hi - any updates this week? Are you able to at least say when the Arsenals are arriving at your store so they can be shipped out to customers? Thanks.
Quote from "Evolution Games" »
They are en route - with any luck my next message will be an email with tracking for your order
Quote from "Me" »
Any ETA on that? Sorry to press, but it seems like these have been in transit for a while. I'm just looking for a little more concrete information in the meantime. Thanks again.
Quote from "Evolution Games" »
UPS ground shipments were delayed last week due to the holiday, and nothing was delivered Thursday or Friday. I dpoke to UPS and was told our shipment had been re-routed as a result. We will get updated information as soon as the package is in transit to our store again, which should be today or tomorrow.
I must say...we have NEVER had a delivery quite like this one!
Quote from "Me" »
Sounds like it. How is Evo Games actually getting more CAs in the first place? I placed my pre-order before I knew how limited the release actually was (4-5 max per store), and I imagine I'm not the only customer wondering/asking how an additional shipment of these is even possible? Probably the worst time to have this kind of shipping issue, as the scenario would likely raise far fewer red flags to buyers if it were just booster boxes of RTR or something like that. Thanks for the continued follow-ups.

We support several stores and our orders are a combination of those numbers. You'd be very surprised how many stores did not sell any of their allocation.
I do think everything they're saying sounds plausible enough, and still just doesn't strike me as the type of messages they'd be sending if they were just trying to screw people over. We'll see.

I have to agree, this has been my thought process as well.

Karakas, thanks for checking in about the situation and also speaking up for alot of us.
That exchange did make me a little more optimistic about actually getting it--hopefully its just bad luck on their part and what they are saying is true.
I've stayed in contact with them. I don't feel super great about my chances at this point, but they're insistent that their orders are "trickling in." They haven't been at all proactive with updates, but I still don't see why they'd string me along if their intentions were either to not fulfill the order or not provide a refund. It's not like customers will just "forget" about their $70 if this goes on long enough.
Seems to me like they are trying to string this out for as long as possible. Likely in hopes that enough people will simply opt for their money back, and likely hoping that the price/value of the arsenal online will drop enough so that they can buy some and cover the hold-out orders without losing too much/having this whole thing murder their reputation in the process.
This is why I dont believe in pre-sales, either selling or buying, because of the issues that can arise.
Also, I checked out EVO Games' website, and it doesnt mention anything there about them being affiliated with any other shops or anything of that nature. I believe quite strongly that you guys are likely being lied to, and they are simply stringing this along and making use of the money for their own purposes until such time as people ask for a refund, and then refund that money when the time comes. Every store that was supposed to get them, should have gotten them by now, especially after this long. Before the shop closed down that I was affiliated with, we called and asked about the arsenals, and we were told point blank by wizards that all of them had been shipped/distributed/delivered by that point and any shops saying they were going to get more, werent getting them from wizards. This was before thanksgiving.
Seriously though. The release day for these things was nearly 6 weeks ago, with shops getting them a day or two before that. Any shop saying their order was delayed, or running into such massive shipping issues, is plain and simply lieing.
That said, if you all have the ability to let $75 sit on the sidelines for a while longer, and are okay with a refund if thats what they eventually are forced to do, then you might as well wait it out. I wouldnt give them any longer than the 18th though either way. At that point someone is going to have to have a straight and information-detailed conversation with them to find out whats going on. Otherwise they will let it go through Christmas, and then the New Years, blaming the delays on the holidays, and that if you just wait a little longer, they will get them.
I hope Im wrong, and you guys are able to get them. But all signs Ive seen point to it not happenning. Too bad someone couldnt contact wizards and ask them about the situation and the store and find out whether the store has been lieing to you guys this whole time. Im sure they would want to know if a business in their distribution network was abusing their customers in such ways.

Agree on everything, Jeff. As the cash isn't a huge deal, I've been content to let it ride. I knew going in it was a long-shot preorder, but it seemed worth a shot. But I think you're right not to let it bleed into the holidays. Any suggestions on the best way to open a dialogue with Wizards? In the event these guys are full of it, I definitely want to report them.

I would simply contact wizards customer service, and let them know that you believe that a wizards internet retailer is committing fraud (or whatever term you want to use) and you wanted to report them to an appropriate individual at wizards do they could look into it. Im honestly not 100% sure how to handle this stuff, but I imagine it would be similar to reporting other misconduct by stores to wizards, like selling product before the sell-date, or such other things. It would be in their best interests to deal with those sorts of businesses that are ending up tarnishing their brand. You can also mention that you have email correspondence from the store as well which details what they are saying is going on, which would clearly appear to be a lie.
Anyhow, good luck, I hope you guys can get this stuff taken care of, and I hope everyone else reading all this will take all this as a warning and not purchase from this store, any store that would do something like this doesnt deserve to remain in business to be honest, such a terrible way to handle things on their part.
Sounds good guys. I will also go ahead and contact Wizards Customer Service and present the same issue. Im in the same boat in that the $75 being held is no big deal, but at this point its not so much about getting the product but also that all the people being defrauded (too strong a word?) get their refunds promptly. I cant stand it when stores arent being honest and I feel that Ive been deceived by their communication.
Almost put in a preorder for a case of Gatecrash with them too. Definitely glad I didnt now.
No problem! We did receive 2 more Arsenals, still owed 14 more lol. Hopefully we will get more this week!
Just fired this off in reply:

With respect, I'd like to have a hard and fast date as to when I'll receive the product. The facts are that only 4-5 of these were issued per store, distributors ran out of them long ago, and if other stores that you're affiliated with simply have to ship the units to you, they've had well over a month to do so. Instead, I've been fed a myriad of vague excuses about shipping delays and products trickling in, that frankly don't make any sense with regards to how these items are actually distributed. The only reasons I haven't been more aggressive about this up to now is that you've been proactive about offering a refund and I see no reason why you would continually stall your customers, unless the intention is that I'll eventually forget about the product and my $70 (which assuredly will not happen).
I'm tired of the back and forth and the incremental excuses about delays and shipment issues that don't seem to add up. Please provide a date by which the product will be shipped to me with appropriate tracking. If that date will not be before the holidays, I have no desire to continue with this into the new year. Unless you can do something to significantly raise my confidence that I'm not being lied to, I have every mind to report this situation to Wizards of the Coast so that they can investigate it directly. I've also been in contact with other Evo Games customers in the same position as me who are prepared to do the same.
I sincerely hope that there is some legitimate explanation for everything and that this can end happily for everyone.
I'll let everyone know how it turns out. I don't have particularly high expectations.
Thanks again Karakas. Again, Illl support any reports you make to WOTC with my own.
added: Why they would presell 19 Arsenals to customers when they know they will only get 5 is totally beyond me. And not admit that straight up when replying to everyone's questions about delays.

The explanation that they represent multiple stores was part of their explanation, except for the fact that there is ZERO indication anywhere on their site that this is the case. Their site is very clearly set up for just that one store, so to me, them saying that was simply an outright lie, and definitely unfortunate.

If I remember the timing of everything correctly based on the insane CA thread in the Rumor Mill, the pre-orders were listed and sold prior to, or right about the exact same time that the 4-per-store distribution was publicized. And even at that point there was a period when many thought that the "4 units" on the distribution flyer might equate to 4 cases, not 4 actual items. My belief is that they listed the pre-orders assuming a FTV type of distribution. I don't think they had knowledge of the distribution flyer at that time, as I remember informing them about it over email after my order was placed. Even at that time they stood by the multiple stores = enough products to fill all pre-orders thing.
In any case, here's today's reply from them and my follow up:
Quote from "Evo Games" »
Sorry you feel this way. We do completely understand your position and would feel similarly if the roles were reversed. We are not "stalling" by any means intentionally, certainly not any more than we are being stalled on our end. To do so over $70 makes no sense at all. We have no problem whatsoever refunding your purchase to you. We are expecting more of these to arrive and fully intend to fill all orders that we have sold.
If you'd like a refund, it will be done without hesitation. If you'd like to continue to wait, we are happy to accommodate that as well. Last thing we want is an unhappy customer.
Quote from "Me" »
Thanks for the reply, but again, I still just don't understand the logistics, why a date cannot be provided, why it's taking so long to receive the items, and where the items are actually coming from, since it can't be from distributors. Are you able to tell me?

Yeah, not stalling by behind, lol. Continued non-answers continues to show that there is nothing on the horizon. They need to be reported to wizards and you guys just need to get your refunds, this is just so rediculous. One question you need to ask is "Where exactly are you getting the additional vaults from? Are you getting them from a Distributor? Are you getting them from Wizards? Are you buying them on the open market? Where are you getting them from? I want to know specifics." Id like to see how they would answer THAT question. Odds are they would either ignore, or would simply not answer it.

That's the main thing that makes me think they still might come through. It seems like it would just be easier to issue the refunds than string customers along and deal with all the correspondence. Unless they don't intend on giving refunds either, but I don't really think that's the case.

Anyhow, good luck, I hope you guys can get this stuff taken care of, and I hope everyone else reading all this will take all this as a warning and not purchase from this store, any store that would do something like this doesnt deserve to remain in business to be honest, such a terrible way to handle things on their part.
Almost put in a preorder for a case of Gatecrash with them too. Definitely glad I didnt now.
Just fired this off in reply:
I'll let everyone know how it turns out. I don't have particularly high expectations.

added: Why they would presell 19 Arsenals to customers when they know they will only get 5 is totally beyond me.

Yeah, not stalling by behind, lol. Continued non-answers continues to show that there is nothing on the horizon. They need to be reported to wizards and you guys just need to get your refunds, this is just so rediculous. One question you need to ask is "Where exactly are you getting the additional vaults from? Are you getting them from a Distributor? Are you getting them from Wizards? Are you buying them on the open market? Where are you getting them from? I want to know specifics." Id like to see how they would answer THAT question. Odds are they would either ignore, or would simply not answer it.
