If the lifelink pushes him to be playable without his unmorph ability, he could become a constructed-worthy card. Otherwise he's just a 6 mana Flametongue Kavu with limited targets.
I think this can make Jeskai control a thing. The life gain can keep you ahead of the top deck Rhinos and burn spells late in the game. It's fun with Narset Transcendent to draw 2 and gain 8.
Having 5 power with that haste ability is going to be great for green to get in some big hits. If you get to untap with him or you get to untap with another creature with power 3+ your next creature or him gets haste. That's super team haste. I think that will make an impact.
Well at prerelease the amount of value to be had in singles was abysmal. I really don't like this set in terms of value much at all but I play eternal formats. No clue why deathmist raptor is that high when morph as a mechanic probably will not make it into constructed and that's all you can do with the raptor. I guess you can play him in GW devotion with mastery of the unseen as the enabler for recursion but if you have an active mastery why care about a 3/3 deathtouch just not seeing it.
Thunderbreak Regent is bad. No haste, sure it punishes your opponent for removing it but you're still behind on tempo because they take 3 to save 4. They should have pushed it with haste, missed opportunity.
Couldn't disagree more with this. I think the value is only being held back by it being a 1 of in the event deck. I think this is a stellar card that will see a good amount of standard play.
I wasn't making comments on the price. I have tested it and found it to be bad. It dies to Abzan Charm and has no haste. Stormbreath Dragon is still better and it's awkward trying to play both in the same deck. If you want a flying creature for the same cost play Ashcloud Phoenix, still bad against Abzan Charm but at least has game against destroy effects.
Metagames evolve. Threats get answered. Thunderbreak Regent might have flying but it dies to Ultimate Price which will just become a very easy removal spell to main deck 2+ copies. Play 8 dragons? I might even put in Plummet for more 2 mana answers.

Ultimate Price is not a good card in the current Meta. When Khans rotates next Spring, Ultimate Price may be pretty good. Right now there are too many targets it can't hit. There is very good removal in the format right now, but Ultimate Price isn't it.
The right idea but you have the names wrong. Everything is now a 2 set block, starting with Khans.
If you don't care about 'themes' why did you say it was a 2 set block? Yes it rotates later than khans. No that doesn't make it not a part of KTK block. Presumably everyone knew about the new rotation schedule as when MaRo posted his new rotation article virtually everyone read it including myself.
The whole reason thunderbreak regent is good is because if they don't have removal you have a 4/4 flier for 4 and if they do so what they take 3. The card reeks of eidolon of the great revel. Eidolon dies to practically every removal spell in the game being a 2/2 for 2. Reason it's good is that it's guaranteed damage unless you never cast a 1, 2, or 3 drop the rest of the game and you always have a blocker for it. So what if it dies to swords to plowshares/disfigure/innocent blood/ghastly demise/abrupt decay it got damage in, which is very important. Thunderbreak regent is an impressive card and is definitely standard playable. That argument that abzan charm kills it? Well you can make that same argument against siege rhino too and siege rhino is all over the place in fact it does basically the same thing as siege rhino except gaining 3 life but instead it has flying and is mono colored/can be played in a lot more decks. Dies to removal argument is utter bull***** in terms of an argument.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
I didn't get to watch any of the SCG Open/Invitational coverage this weekend. Any DTK cards that over or underperformed relative to expectations? Simply based on the top deck lists Dromoka's Command looks like a winner.
Narset Transcendent under performed but that could just be because players couldn't afford to pay for travel to Richmond and buy the card in the same week Soorani played it in Esper control early on.
4 toughness mono colored creatures just doing well against Bile Blight in my opinion. Swap it for Ultimate Price and you can still kill Goblin Rabblemaster and other red weenies which will become your main dangers.
I still believe control decks have a place in the metagame they just have to put together the right removal packages.
I went to a PPTQ over the weekend. There were 4 Mono-Red Aggro decks in the Top 8. There were a couple 7-1 (or better) Mono-Red decks in the SCG Invitational. There were also a few Mon-Red decks playing day 2 of the SCG Standard Open. It seems unlikely to me that Control will get there while the Aggro decks are running wild. But, it also seems that there is a pattern of Aggro in the first few weeks after a new set, followed by decks that can beat the really low to the ground Aggro, followed by Control that can beat those decks.
Isn't that the way it works?

Also, dragons of tarkir is the third set in this block. Want proof click this handy announcement link that explicitly states it's the third set in the khans of tarkir block: http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/announcing-dragons-tarkir-2014-11-03

I think you're misevaluating it. If your plan is to damage race, a guaranteed 3 damage is not a bad deal, and on top of a 4/4 flier for 4 is good.

You're obviously missing my point. I'm talking about rotation. I don't care about themes.

Regardless of my opinion it is in the event deck and will be a game day promo. Sell now while the hype is on.

Sarkhan Unbroken stayed unbroken. Was not even seen.
Thunderbreak Regent, Surrak, the Hunt Caller, Atarka's Command and Dromoka's Command are the cards that saw the most play just going off the open results which was not webcast. Dragonlord Ojutai was sideboard tech in Jeskai tokens but didn't do that much.
4 toughness mono colored creatures just doing well against Bile Blight in my opinion. Swap it for Ultimate Price and you can still kill Goblin Rabblemaster and other red weenies which will become your main dangers.
