Crux of Fate is crazy. I think most people are still having trouble evaluating it. As far as I'm aware, it functions as a Damnation for more, at worst. And there isn't any other black "destroy all creatures" as cheap as Crux, except Damnation (a $50 rare). I can see Crux being played heavily in Standard as well as in Casual (major $$$) and probably Modern etc. If it doesn't catch on in Standard (which would be strange to me... black would have to be unplayable) then it will dip below $4 but recover in the long term. At $5 now I think it's pretty cheap.
FR isn't being opened much. Box value has already dropped below $80. This could be a very underopened set and Crux could be in dire shortage in a year or two.

I don't know man. There's a huge difference between 4 and 5 mana when it comes to board wipes. I can't see any reason why Crux would see play in Modern when Modern already has the far superior Damnation, which, as far as I know, isn't played...at all? Still sucks against Stormbreath. Does anyone play Stormbreath these days? Either way, if we get a playable dragon in Dragons of Tarkir, that'll probably be a big hit against the card as well.
I just realized this is the Khans of Tarkir thread. I should probably shut up about Fate Reforged cards!
Thanks, I didn't know Damnation was so bad in Modern. What does black do for board wipes?
So if there will never be Modern demand for Crux, it'll have to be Standard and Casual. So best case scenario would be 10ish, then a drop on rotation, and a rise to 20ish over a few years? And worse case I guess would be Standard not needing it much, and Dragon decks falling out of favour in Casual, and then it could drift down toward junk status?
Seems to be holding at ~$5 shipped right now.
FR's EBV has dropped a few more bucks since I last mentioned it, and sits below that of KoT and M15.
I think Crux can probably be played in commander as a back up to Damnation. Will it be bulk? Probably. Most rares these days (RTR onwards) are bulk no matter if they're being played or not. They need to be really powerful and popular to hold value (Rabblemaster, Tasigur, Siege Rhino)

Cruel Ultimatum in the win card. Damnation is the board wipe.
