It's all based on support in the format. I doubt the standard formats when those two were out is equal to the level of enchantment support currently in standard. Plus, remember that Eidolon replaces himself, whereas the two you listed do not.

This. With Mana Bloom and a few powerful Enchantment creatures available (Herald of Torments, Courser of Kruphix, Doomwake Giant), it is an engine that is only slightly slow. You could argue that the above cards could be played without Eidolon, but in a metagame of Midrange vs. Midrange, the engine that Eidolon can get you exceeds even that of your opponent's Underworld Connections, Domri Rade, Chandra, and Courser of Kruphix engines, giving you the best card advantage in a potentially slow matchup.

People are questioning how Green Eidolon (Greenolon?) could be playable, bringing up cards like Verduran Enchantress. I wonder if some are forgetting that there are extras you're getting for the low cost of more.
- It's an enchantment itself, making multiple copies stronger, and making it a much better top deck (so it's a 4-of)
- and meaning if you have other Enchantresses (or stuff like Enchantress's Presence) you're drawing a mitful of cards when you play it, unlike previous Enchantress cards
- Regardless of your board, it always cantrips when you play it. No other Enchantress cantrips. That's worth the right there!
- Greenolon triggers on any enchantment entering your board. Previous Enchantresses triggered on casting an enchantment. Greenolon is more fragile against counterspells but incredible when combined with something that puts multiple enchantments in play at once.
- We should also be cognizant of the fact that Enchantment support is better now than it has been in a long time, perhaps going all the way back to Urza's block in 1998.
You could think of this card, in a deck designed to abuse it, as: 2GG
You're going to draw a ton of cards next turn, and every other turn.
When this enters play, draw a card. Possibly a few cards.
Card engines that also cantrip when played and only cost 4 shouldn't be auto-dismissed.
That's rather sloppy and a proper deck would do better, but it's just an example. Drawing 6 extra cards by turn 4 is great, and generally means you're drawing 10+ on turn 5 which usually wins the game. I've played Enchantress decks in various formats for a long time. I'm testing it and liking. You're getting a LOT extra for that .
The other piece of the Greenolon (i like the name!) hype is looking towards the rotation of RTR. Courser of Kruphix and Eidolon of Blossoms are really the only card advantage engines in Theros block. i think people are trying to find the right shell moving forward.

Not only are the only card advantage engines, but they also work together! It's very likely a value driven control deck like BUG or simply B/G is very good when we rotate.
Wow, I hadn't fully realized how many interactions there are between Greenolon and Pharika. Or Heliod for that matter. And yeah, excellent synergies with Courser which has already proven it is playable. I wouldn't be surprised if competitive decks are brewing right now, involving some or all of those synergies.

The card's most recent move is on right. means no movement. is a card that wasn't on the list last update. This is the update's hottest mover. (#) is price in CND incl. shipping here.
There are now 14 cards worth $3 or more, and therefore worth opening in a booster pack, as Eidolon of the Great Revel popped onto the tally.
I'll be brief with my comments. The top 2 cards both gained a buck, most of the middle section of the tally (ie the Gods) cooled off further, while Greenolon gained 50% and moved above $4. Overall the set's value held steady or even gained slightly - something really strange for a set to be doing while it is being opened heavily, drafted, and redeemed on MTGO.

Brian Braun-Duin brought a Junk Constellation deck at last weekend's SCG Open that went 7-2, I think. Link to the deck tech. It definitely shows some potential.
Thanks. Looks like a black/green/white "good stuff" deck. Plenty of nice cards and interactions there. I'm a bit shocked at the Doomwake Giants. 4, even.
The constellation deck could become the "control" deck of next standard. It doesn't play well with Supreme Verdict, but it's something to see them go off with multiple Eidolons in play, drawing multiple cards for every enchantment cast.

He commented in a Video Tech that Doomwake Giant was the best card in the deck. That was enough for me to buy 3 playsets for a total of $4.80.

Doomwake in action is just plain good. A big enough body to matter, a very good ability that is repeatable and scalable, great in multiples, and all for a reasonable and splashable cmc. The effect is usually good enough for cards of the sort to get played in standard, and the fact it's one sided is even better. I'm sure it'd be worth quite a bit more if it weren't a pre-release promo(And thus have bajillions of copies out there, with arguably better art). Still, I imagine it will make some waves in its standard lifetime and could be worth a couple bucks or so down the road.
So, what is driving the price behind foil Nyx-Fleece Ram? It is one of the most beautiful artworks in the entire block, IMO, and the card itself isn't horrible, but I was shocked when the set was first released and I went to buy one, only to discover that the cheapest was $6. I figured it would go down to a buck or two once supply increased. I just checked again and there's one played copy on TCG for $19.99. There are a few playsets on Ebay for $30 and a couple of non-English versions but other than that it seems to be sold out (haven't checked other sites like SCGs). It's just kind of shocking to me that it's commanding such a high price.
I haven't been keeping up with Standard since Theros BNG was released. What's making Temple of Malady the most expensive scryland? Is it the above-mentioned BGW enchantment deck?

It is from the last set, so in shorter supply than the scry lands that were in Theros and Born of the Gods. It is used in Bg Devotion (one of the best decks in Standard) and also in a number of other decks that may threaten to break into Tier 1 or at least be very good.
I'll have to check out this BG devotion deck. I would have assumed that the BNG scrylands would be in shorter supply since everyone seems to hate that set. Crazy to see a ETB tapped land fetching as much as it's shockland equivalent.

As far as Nyx-Fleece Ram ... you got me. I also wanted to pick one up, but the high price tag drove me away. I think that it might be the combination of 3rd set card, so low supply, gorgeous art, cool frame (seriously, foil enchantment creatures look amazing), and halfway decent effect. Sometimes, the gorgeous art foils do just sell for more. The price will fall, but Conspiracy packs being drafted and taking interest away from what was really a lackluster finish to a decent start may prevent JOU from being opened and used as prizes.

Along with many mods, I've moved shop over to MTGNexus. Come check us out!
It is seeing a fair amount of sideboard play in the Standard-format U/W/x control decks as a way to stabilize and gain some life against the R/w Burn deck (which has a pretty good matchup against said control decks). Given the above factors and the fact that it is seeing a consistent amount of Standard play, I can see why the price would be elevated. There's not a ton of value in Journey into Nyx at the moment, since so few of the cards have really taken off.

Went to a new shop from a friend's recommendation, DQ'ed for willful violation of CR 100.6b.
I can attest of the strength of the constellation deck. I played a very similar one to great results the first two weeks after release. Then I played against someone who had randomly had Kiora's Dismissal (it was a quite haphazardly built deck) and played it striving for 3. The brutal tempo disadvantage ended the game right there and I immediately stopped testing the deck. It is powerful but the moment it becomes any prevalent it will be easily blast-hated out of the format.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
