It doesn't matter if you finish a set today or in 2 months. The amount of people that actually want to collect those cards would be very small.
Turns out the new Jace is very good. I played against UB control last night and I had to try to kill it before my opponent untapped or else he would have got to cast an extra Dig Through Time and bury me under card advantage.
I have played against it a couple of times and it has been good both times. It's funny how you get an appreciation of cards when you're getting wrecked by them
The ceiling very much depends on what Nissa and Liliana do though. I don't think the set can support 3 walkers of $25+.
Liliana is pretty terrible at the moment and I have a hard time imagining what it would take for her to actually be great
Nissa is meh but Elf Tribal is sure to be viable at some level once we get back to Zendikar
Jace, is the real deal however, he's a s(much) slower and not quite as good Snapcaster and that should tell you all you need to know
I'm thinking Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker is a decent spec target: red decks do not seem to be going away soon and they will be losing the Theros dragon (I forget his name), he could replace it potentially
It costs 2 mana. Narset costs 4. Welcome to MTG. Mana efficiency is EVERYTHING.
I know mana efficiency is everything. That's why I don't want to spend the mana twice for the same spell like I would have to for Jace. Also, waiting to untap a two-drop creature that dies to Shock doesn't seem like a great planeswalker to me. I've tried him out, and I thought he just was lackluster. The best part about Snapcaster Mage is flashing back your instant-speed spells. Jace can't even do that. I dunno, I think he'll be $7 in a few months.
1) Costs two mana instead of four
2) Only needs blue instead of blue and white
3) You can flashback spells you cast before casting Jace with Jace, whereas with Narset you have to have her in play first before you can cast the spell twice
4) Jace let's you get your flashbacked spell now, whereas Narset makes you wait a turn to get the rebounded spell
5) Jace is unconditional card draw and grows your graveyard, Narset might not draw you the card
When Delve cycles out of Standard you might see Jace decrease in price, but I doubt it. The fact that he costs two mana is king. I can cast him late in the game with plenty of mana left over to protect him. I can cast him early in the game when boards are still developing. If they kill him when a spell that costs two, it's card parity. If they use a spell that costs three or more, its a tempo win for me. If he gets Wild Slashed, oh well, I only spent two mana on him. He's the real deal, and that's really all there is to it.
In summation.....Star Trek wins a prolonged naval battle against superior, yet less technologically advanced, numbers, with Picard leading the assault, while Kirk takes your soul by laying out Solo and probably his manservant Chewy as well, before impregnating and ditching your Princess.
This card is disgustingly good. I've been using it in Thopter Control but I convinced a friend to try it 1x in a R/G list and now he has 4x in there. It's up to $10 on tcgplayer.
The Rally deck only has 1 really, really bad match-up: Monored. The match-up is absolutely miserable. UBx control is fairly easy, although Ashiok is excellent you do have Deathmist and Den Protector which can just grind the opponent.
Heh, I was expecting mono-red to be heavily played by the Pros being how good of a spot it's in with the slower/midrange stuff and control decks lacking removal for hyper-aggro/burn. I know Blackborder team is heavily looking into mono-red. Personally, I've been cheering for Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh, being how well she's done in my testing though she already did top8 a SC last weekend.
We should be hearing some chatter tonight about the hot pickups by Pros.
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
Chandra will be the huge gainer from this weekend. Playing her is like suspending a Lava Axe.
In that it does nothing immediately, and you can lose the game before anything happens?
Don't get me wrong - I love the idea of Chandra. I just feel like she's a really weak creature AND she's hard to flip.
Not hard to flip at all. Go play some games with mono-red and see how many non-land cards you have on turn 4. It's two or more than two pretty much always. Sure, not the best top-deck (WHEN hand completely empty; kinda rare) BUT you draw before you first get to use her so more than 50% of the time you will be half-way to flipping her - again, that's WORST case scenario. Dies to removal is also mostly moot being 3cc and the fact that opponent quite often burns removal on mono-red's other 1/2/3 drops.
Really not the place to get into "playable details" about cards - plenty of other places around here to do that (you can read more of my thoughts there too). But important point for gainers is the downside to Chandra is that she is restricted to low-to-mid curve mono-red (or tiny x splash) decks. So like Liliana, Heretical Healer, she definitely requires a specific deck whereas new Jace and especially Nissa are much easier to "fit in." So it's all about how much mono-red is played. Not too much longer till we get to see the Pro Tour game!

ActionJunkie is right, this isn't the place to discuss playability, so I'll say my last bit. Chandra is just utter garbage on paper. But in practice, she's crazy good. Burn will show up at the Pro Tour. A lot of it will. And every list will be playing 3 Chandra. Personal experience in testing with friends appearing at the PT has shown me this. She's not hard to flip in the current Standard, though perhaps everywhere else it would be a feat. You heard about it here first. Now, where's my crow so I can get ready to eat it?
What are your Top 3 picks for after Theros Rotation?
This is what I'm thinking ATM
1. Dig Through Time - one of the few(rares) card I can think of that you start with 4 of and then build the rest of the deck.
2. Jace, Vryn's Prodigy (see long debates above)
3. Siege Rhino - The archetype seems still rock solid but will loose some of its optios (and opponents) the day Zendikar becomes legal.
One reason I'm semi- AGAINST jace is we aren't made of money, i double we are gonna see 80 dollar Jace Vry's so what would be the top 3 for % gain?
Ideas suggestions / why I'm fulla crap? Your top 3?
Doesn't Theros rotation leave only Dragons of Tarkir in Standard? So Dig Through Time and Siege Rhino will rotate out as well.
False. BfZ rotating in rotates Theros block out, leaving Khans/FrF, Dragons, Origins, and BfZ.
The block after rotates Khans/FrF out, leaving Dragons, Origins, BfZ Block, and the 2016 Spring set.
