This set seems to be giving the EDH vibes which is good in the long long run but when you compare that to shocks, abrupt decay, DRS, and other potential modern playables of RTR, it doesn't spell stability at all for the next couple months
This is my feelings exactly. The gods are super popular among every causal player I know, and they are all trying to get them. Supply is really low in the area even with a lot of opening going on because everyone wants them. Some people are playing them in standard decks, but never as a 4x. Thoughtsieze will keep falling, and the planeswalkers are still release inflated. Most of the stuf in the 3-4$ range are either EDH/Casual cards or cards that are still falling from pre-sale price.
Strange market forces are things like speculation, hype, short supply simply due to the fact that the set is new.
Oh. Well, I haven't seen any of those regarding Theros, but I do recall RTR being rumoured to be in short supply when it had just come out.
But yeah, if the box value is high right now, people are going to open a lot of it. That may push FUTURE box value down. RTR had massive box value when it was opened and has managed to hold on to that, so coming out of the gate roaring isn't always an indicator of future price crashes IMO.
I don't mean short supply like they screwed up distribution. I'm talking about the normal stampede to get the best cards in the set. Presale prices are still sticking to some extent and people are trying to sell their cards for last week's prices... and they are already sliding.
I have a feeling that in a year from now there will be 5 cards worth more than $10 and the list above will have 18-20 cards instead of 38 (:o!!)
I just wonder how long it's going to take before enough people read all 3 paragraphs of Underworld Cerberus and realize how good it actually is.
It's counter-productive until aggro gets phased out. The only home I can forsee this being in is a red/black/x deck thats midrange. In aggro matchups its 3rd ability is very undesirable, as they will be getting more out of it than you. Of course vs AIR they would have no way of removing it, so it's pretty decent...only time will tell (although I agree with you its completely undervalued)
imo stormbreath dragon will tank the most, will be played but not anywhere nearly as good as thundermaw hellkite.
How? The 1/1 fliers were a huge problem, and thus T-maw was a great card in Innistrad standard, we do not have this problem, and instead we sacrifice 1 PT for prot white and an incredible monstrosity effect, in no way is stormbreath "not nearly as good as thundermaw hellkite", I and many others would argue its much better. <You should give arguments to why you think X is better than Y because otherwise you are just spewing nonsense.>

What's nonsense is what you just typed, dude. People can give their opinions here without giving reasons. Reasons are always good for backing up opinions, but opinions without reasons aren't to be censored, thankyouverymuch.
As for Stormbreath Dragon, why do you feel the monstrous trigger is so potent? It seems very weak to me, only being possible in the very late game, maybe functioning as a Lava Spike, if you're lucky. Like I said, though, 4/4 flying haste is pretty good for 5 mana, and pro white can't hurt. It'll see play, but is in no way shape or form a $30+ card.

I never condoned it being a 30+ dollar card, I'm simply saying its not completely outclassed by T-maw hellkite. It's monstrosity is good because it's an extra effect that actually does something (most monstrosity effects are monstrously terrible with the exception of a few). It's a late game effect that proves devastating against decks that can stave off the deck that runs Stormbreath.
I also believe Akronian Hoplite should be 50 dollars.

Hi I'm Infecter4life and ironically I only play GBx decks.

I don't play standard, but from what I understand the Monstrous is solid against Sphinx Revelation, and even better after you board in skull crack.
These are the only cards I expect to hold any meaningful value whatsoever. Ie, over 3$ tcg mid:
Elspeth Sun's Champion
Stormbreath Dragon
Ashiok Nightmare Weaver
Thoughtseize
Xenagos the Reveler
Purphoros God of the Forge
Thassa God of the Sea
Erebos God of the Dead
Fleecemane Lion
Heliod God of the Sun
Temples
8 Mythics and 7 rares worth pulling long term which is probably a little mythic heavy as far as big sets go. EV won't fall as hard as Dragon's Maze for sure but won't hold up nearly as well as RTR. Pretty average set.

List needs some anger of the gods it will likely hold price as well as supreme verdict.
Imho double red is harder on a mana base than uw currently. If you're trying to run a control deck and need double red on turn 3 or 4 you are in grixis colors most likely and that's a tough mana situation. The only reason Slagstorm was able to maintain a price was because it was auto 4 in ramp which was king of the hill for a long period of time.. I could be wrong but I see it dropping just under 3. It was the most borderline of all the cards tho.
It sure looks to be at least as powerful as Pyroclasm, which has always been and continues to be about as strong as you can push such a card. Hard to imagine Anger falling below $3, but then again, it IS red........
I specced on Slagstorm in Scars block. I picked them up at $2 hoping they would reach $5-$6 as during that time it was red's only mass removal. However I was disappointed when they peaked at $4. Once bitten, twice shy. I don't have much hope for Anger of the Gods when a much better card, Mizzium Mortars, can barely reach above $3.

Mortars was an intro deck card, but yes I think Mortars is better. Maybe with both in the format they will actually help each other give big red a critiacl mass.
But yes it is red. Chandra and Stormbreath are the most valuable red cards outside special print run and portal/starter rarity stuff.

WUBRGPauper Battle BoxWUBRG ... and why I am not a fan of Wayne Reynolds' Illustrations.
If you hate the deck, I'm probably playing it!
It's pretty solid, but it doesn't have a home right now.

Other hint: kill the dragon before they have the mana to monstrous

When the only other cheap sweeper requires uw if you are a red based control deck lacking uw the card is good.
Slagstorm was worth 4 on the low end during its peak, this card is better against things like voice of resurgence and other cards.
