... then I pushed the "send: button... and guess what I saw... ONLY 7 PACKAGES!!! 7 PACKAGES!!!
And each of those packages was for only 1 or 2 cards... how can anyone even remotely compare Card Sphere to Puca Trade? Even w/ all of the troubles, blunders, mistakes, reciprocal trades, and issues it has had these past 2 years, Card Sphere cannot hold a candle to Puca Trade. Even w/ all of the troubles, blunders, mistakes, reciprocal trades, and issues it has had these past 2 years, Card Sphere cannot hold a candle to Puca Trade.
The troubles, blunders, mistakes, etc. are exactly the point of making the comparison. Puca's been a hot dumpster fire for a number of users since Future Site, and Cardsphere has none of those problems. If Puca is working for you, then great. But it's a super disingenuous argument to completely dismiss Cardsphere entirely when your argument boils down to "I tried it once and didn't like it". What I'm hearing is the classic sunk-cost argument. It's survival of the clickiest on Cardsphere right now, much like Puca's earliest days. But the base grows by the day. Here's the facts: the full year I had an active Puca account after the Future Site upgrade, I received fewer than 5 trades in the entire year. I've been actively sending on Cardsphere for about a month now, and I have sent and received about 30 packages a piece, give or take, total value in the $200 range. There's certainly a learning curve to it with cuts/bonuses, but I'm getting infinitely more value at a fraction of the effort compared to Puca.
Someone who is more familiar with Cardsphere than I am should write a primer for it. I am curious what people think are good standards for percentages when they send, as well as listing wants. I read the article by Doug Montalvo where he listed his standards, but he is a different type of trader than the average. The average trader, who doesn't have nearly the inventory he does, will get nowhere if they wait for ~90% to send things.
The majority of my trading stock is "playable" commons and uncommons. For example, I don't mind sending [card]Call to the Netherworld[\card] at 70%, but at what point does one send [card]Gush[\card]? 85%?
I will say that I like the site. I like the system, even though they are lacking the user base. That's also how Puca was for the first year I was on there. I'll be honest: I still love Puca too, and I hope it bounces back further.
Both the Cardsphere reddit and Discord channels are the best places for this type of resource. The Discord is really good as the creators are on it nearly 100% of the time. My inventory is probably pretty average for a casual gamer, and I can still find a decent amount to move at 90%. The rough rule of thumb I go by:
The most helpful thing I've found when adding/shipping particular cards is look at the history for the last 10 trades. That should give you a solid baseline for the "Cardsphere market value", for lack of a better term. You really shouldn't have to haggle much at all to get trades on the Discord channel - if stuff isn't moving, you're probably offering too low of cut percentage. I'll usually start out a new Want at the avg trade price, then bump by a percent every few days until it's filled.
The user base is getting a lot better. The creators are very transparent with site statistics. January saw +1000 users added. Historical growth averaged about 0.5% per day, and since the new year it's been closer to 0.7%. And a daily average of $35k trades in transit speaks for itself.
Should a Cardsphere thread should be started to keep this more on topic?
You may do so if you wish. That would probably push both this thread and that thread into the Store Discussion subforum rather than the main Cafe. I'm also amenable to renaming this thread.

If people are sick of reading about stuff just stop taking part. You have 100% control over what you read. Simic Ascendancy isn't going to get banned just because you didn't tell someone to shut up on the internet.
For those not "in-the-know" w/ Puca Trade news, the site is no longer selling Puca Points. This should help the economy of the site improve overall. Should also negate complains from those who are burnt out on Puca Trade the complaint that the dollar is not equal to 100 Puca Points in the future.
The overall health of the site is improving. Even with me fishing for recip trades, I still am having trouble holding onto points. Others are mentioning (while in communications regarding a recip trade) cards they have on my list that are over the current amount of points I have. Today I will send out, hopefully at least 3,000 worth in points, to others w/o requesting a recip just so I can have my cushion back. I'm barely floating about 2,000 points most days.
I started soliciting people and I am getting cards sent without promotions. But its slowing down so I will inevitably have to Promote. I guess one has to pay as high as 200-260%! so crazy!
Did you do something specific to stir up interest? Is there another forum or something to steer 'wanters' to you?
I have a very large want list and lots of promotions ranging from 0-180%, but beyond randomly dropping my link in Discord I don't do anything special. I also actively turn away people who only want to recip.

I read your bio, hence why I haven't hit you up for a recip. I have been doing nothing but recip trades... the card's are flowing like the swallows of Capistrano.
Not if you use the promotion system for the cards you want. It's working well. I've just had a pile of hard-to-find Zendikar things sent to me in the last 24hrs, solely possible because I promoted them.
Holy Moly!!! It's going to take 3-plus (3+!!!) weeks (it's really been about 3 or 4 days since the package was accepted and it still says 21 more days) to get a package from Malaysia... anyone familiar enough with world postage information know why it takes so long, yet from Japan or Australia it can take less than 2 weeks.
Is it their customs facilities that pull out the red tape?

Hopefully I get it before the 4th of July, lol...
Sounds about right - I routinely have stretches where it takes three weeks between the US and Australia, so the same to Malaysia is not a stretch. I fancy Puca probably leans towards the worst-case-scenario with their estimates (I believe they're backed up by data from past trades, though).
That said, you can ride the lightning sometimes - hopefully it gets there in 8-9 days for you (which is about my record).
So, this really grinds my gears (AND I think ALL of you will agree with me here)... I send an Italian NM Chromium for about 2,500 points. Right after I send it the price flux (think that option to see the price changes is Silver & Gold memberships only) jumps 650 points.
Why on Earth does this happen? Why does sending out a pricey card trigger that jump? Wonder if there is a way to recoup those points (I know it's just an algorithm, but it feels like a malicious action). I have even seen this happen on low-end value cards.
Anyone else have a story to tell of PT not giving you the points/"money's worth?"
And, lastly, any thoughts about why this happens or how to combat it (if even possible)?
I track card values fairly closely that I intend to send soon. If the card values are not accurately reflected, I don't send them. Perfect example is donate. I had a stack of them that I wanted to send. TCG market price is 8.50, but puca shows it at 401 points. Instead of sending on puca and losing value since they won't update that card despite me flagging it several weeks ago, I buylisted it to cardkingdom.

What about those other times when you send out cards high then the price falls or doesnt move at all?
After reading what you wrote it seems as if you are under the impression that your trades are triggering prices, I think it would take more than one trade to move the price of a card.

Then what's your explanation? In my experience w/ PT, cards do not fall in price immediately after the trade was done. This is a semi-regular occurrence w/ PT. Just not this much of a discrepancy. I've seen a few cents jump in the past & it didn't bother me. But 600+ points is something else, pretty note-worthy.

Modern/Legacy playables - 80-90%
Bulk commons/uncommons/EDH-only playables - 70-75%

I dont think so, spend time on Discord to find a recipical trade or such, or just to advertise.
