The new feature seems to encourage people who are active senders. Just ship some smaller package here and there and you should get rewarded sooner or later. Proof:
Also, braggng rights: just committed to my largest package ever: 268 catds to a single user. Lucky guy!
So apparently on reddit, the pucatrade liason was attempting to explain the new flux/recommended feature because at first, people just thought it was that you'd need to send every so often to appear on that filter which was very unpalatable.
Turns out, that was false (or at least what they said) because flux/recommended actually filters users to show those who haven't gotten anything in a while amongst other criteria that generally aren't applicable to the average user (new users and top ranked users).
It has nothing to do with sending every so often which was communicated extremely poorly and second, it actually punishes users for getting cards as they would then get removed off that particular filter list...
And once again, the Pucatrade just doesn't get it. They first force any new users after 11/11 to use this filter unless they upgrade, they also fail to communicate any of this in a clear manner until we get to reddit which is a very small subset of the overall pucatrade demographic and finally, they've set the filter on immediately to everyone without their knowledge and i'd wager many didn't even notice because it was barely announced, and poorly communicated in the actual official pucatrade article.
You want recommended off 99% of the time. You're basically limiting yourself in who you want to send to when its just better to see all available options. The only time you'd actually want it on is if you're feeling particularly charitable at your own expense.
And like I said before, they're making this needlessly complicated which is compounded further when clearly don't know how to explain concepts in a simple and digestible way. Literally just say "Point sales between users are now unbanned" and it would bring back all the power users/stores that have quit and were also responsible for like 90% of sending on the site.
I personally told Eric freytag and vinnie ballisteri on Skype that they took away all of my incentive to send the high demand cards when they cracked down on point selling. I totally agree with you.
Yeah, I have "Recommended" off, too. I'd much rather have "Active Traders".
I need to send another little one just to continue to test the theory that it pushes me back to the top of the pile. Haven't sent out for a while due to an absolutely epic one that is currently going around the houses:
1) Send knackered Su-Chi from Australia to the US for a guy's beaten 93/94 cube on October 11th.
2) Nothing but crickets for five weeks for both of us.
3) It then proceeds to turn back up in my letterbox on November 14th, marked "Not deliverable to this address - return to sender" by the USPS.
4) Check whether I've screwed up the address with the receiver... nope, it's perfectly correct. USPS have simply rejected the letter for zero good reasons.
So we think it's down to the fact that I hand-wrote the address, and the USPS address scanner was having a particularly bad day. I've repackaged it, printed the label out this time, and it's going back on its way again. It's going to be the most well-travelled Su-Chi in history. And, to their credit, Australia Post look like they're offering me a free book of stamps to make up for the failure in delivery (go Australia Post! Who'd have thunk it?!), so it's not been a total loss. Just really, really epic.

That's ... kind of hilarious. So long as your receiver has a sense of humor about the situation, these are the kinds of stories that are retold for years (about two years ago, I had an envelope that was supposed to go from east coast USA to east coast USA end up in eastern Europe).
As much as Americans rag on the postal system in Italy and Brazil, the USPS isn't exactly a bastion of reliable delivery. It's not the worst in the world, but as you've noticed, stuff just kind of breaks down occasionally.

Yeah, he's thankfully been awesome - asked me to pull Su-Chi back out and autograph it so his cube has a record of its travels before I reposted it.
I'm sure it's been posted by others, but with nobody willing to send me any cards and over $700 sitting on pucatrade, I feel like I've been ripped off. I have no means to withdraw my assets from the site, other than buying into their stupid sweepstakes hub.
There is an epidemic of lazy traders on PT who are taken it upon themselves to leave out the toploader as a protective measure for the outgoing trades. This happened to the last 3 trades I received between yesterday and today. I am sick of it. Get of your lazy bum, from a card shop (sports, Magic, collectibles, etc...) and spend the $3 to $4 for the 25 toploaders that come in a pack. And, by the way, don't these morons receive cards in toploaders... or are they getting their traders from the other morons who do not send w/ the toploaders?
This needs to be taken seriously by the PT admin. All we need is pricey card to be lunch for the USPS mail sorter. Luckily, my incoming trades were not high value cards and there was no harm. But that is no excuse to turn a blind eye and not do something about it.
This one guy had sent to me in the past (June I think) w/o sending w/ a toploader. I warned him to send, for now on, w/ toploaders. Well, I got more cards from him today - yup, you guessed it, no toploader. I messaged him that I was blocking him & alerting the admin. I made a case for the cards and will not release the held points until he mans up, apologizes, & learns his lesson. It's now up to him to figure out how to apologize to me after I blocked him. I'm not going to be a door mat for a complete stranger.

I don't use PucaTrade, but this is my biggest pet peeve when ordering cards online. I have had a number of orders from TCGPlayer where the cards are not shipped in a toploader and one of my more recent orders (for an Inspiring Vantage) was visibly creased on the top due to the way USPS handled it. Luckily I got a refund and I just gave the card away to one of the younger players at my LGS.
This is one of the main reasons I stopped using Troll and Toad as well since they almost never even sent in a penny sleeve, let alone a toploader.
I am not sure the best way to "enforce" this line of thinking on every seller, but I would hope that more would take the time to send cards in toploaders.

If you want to withdraw your assets and willing to take a little bit of a hit, there is a facebook group that deals with selling/buying points. The current rate for selling points is somewhere around $.50 to $.60 per 100 points, but it's better than sitting on points that will never get used. PM me if you want the details.

So in other words, you're stealing his cards. And you're proud of that? Insisting someone apologize to you, then making it so that he can't. Dick move. BTW, while top loaders should be used, they are not a requirement. Puca calls using them a "guide" and "recommended". The only one violating Puca rules is you. BTW, what "case" did you make with the admins? You said yourself the cards arrived unharmed. Release his points or send him his cards back, block him, and move on.
I didn't ask for your judgement... nice that you like to jump to conclusions. He will get his points once the admins get involved. I have the right to make sure he will not ever be able to trade w/ me again. I have done nothing wrong. I am merely not releases the points until the admin step in.
But hey, it's totally OK for you to try to make me look like a scam artist, right?
I was sent a Past in Flames once in nothing but an Ultra-Pro sleeve inside a PWE. How it made it in one piece is anyone's guess - it would've been bouncing around in there like no-one's business. And this was well before Past in Flames got a reprint... would've been an 800-900pt transaction.
I don't really consider it stealing the dude's cards - it's about alerting him to the fact that the way he's currently sending could end in tears. And let's face it, you'd rather he learn that on a pair of Wayfarer's Baubles than a Mox. Because Murphy's Law dictates that you'd get away with it on all the 50c cards, but if you sent a piece of power somewhere, it would get chewed apart by the USPS mail sorter.

You don't really need a toploader for $0.10 cards and the fact that you got so bent out of shape about it says volumes about your character.

Their policy has always been that you ship in one to protect the cards against potential damage during transit. Each card doesn't have to be in one, but there should still be something that stiff in order to protect the cards you are sending.
There is also the respect of it. Putting a card in a toploader does not increase the expense of sending a card so why would you not want to protect your trade?

I don't think you have any alternatives other than hoping that Pucatrade can somehow fix up futuresite and completely reverse the eroding confidence in the pucatrade system, all in a timely manner before the death spiral becomes permanent or a better pucatrade competitor pops up with their own set of currency. I'm very certain at this point that the window is closing and with each update that the pucatrade team comes up with, confidence is eroded as it very clear at this point that these guys are too idealistic and do not understand how to manage their economy.

That's pretty much the crux of it, yeah.
So you're being giving and generous by donating some cards to a random dude on the Internet... but you don't go through the steps to make sure it's actually going to arrive in the state you posted it in? Irony much?
I'm pretty sure this is something like sub-heading J under Rule #1 - "Don't be a jerk".

Yup, totally agree. No matter the size of the trade, I ALWAYS use a toploader. As in the pic attached, I always have toploaders on me at home (that's my Puca Trade drawer, where I keep supplies, such as tape, toploaders, and outgoing trades). I have even withheld trades from going out until I go them. I do not want cards to EVER have a chance to get damaged.
Good rule of thumb, treat others as you want them to treat you... even strangers.
Chris Hanrahan, THEE largest trader of volume and value on Puca Trade, puts sending cards on a whole new level. I just got, from him, my very first vacuum-sealed & shrink wrapped, lol... bwahahahahaha... He cracks me up... at least they came safe, WITH a toploader, hehehehe
