I suppose I technically have a position as a graduate assistant, but it doesn't exactly pay the greatest salary. Hopefully I will get a decently-paying position when I get done with school.
(On the bright side, I have an extra $1,000 coming in that I didn't know about. I'm tempted to go out and get my third piece of Power, but I'm going to allow my longer-term thinking to override that and save it for a rainy day.)

Tiny leaders is very easy to get into. Other than cube, it's the first format my girlfriend really enjoys, so im happy for that! (She plays Thalia, which is quite good).
Both mine and her decks are sub $50, which is awesome. Mine is higher than that now, but only because cards are foiled from what I already owned. I could make a really sweet deck if I pulled cards out of cube but rather not swap back and forth.

Congrats on the interview, KV.
thank you! What's Tiny Leaders? It looks hilariously powerful.

Think Commander/EDH, but every card has to be CC <=3, the decks are only 50 cards (49 + commander), and starting life is 25. Makes for a few interesting design choices!
I just finished watching Man Seeking Woman, and I'm not sure which way this will go. I am hoping the guy is just so immensely into drugs that it would explain all of the left fields. If he's not on drugs, I want my thirty minutes back.
Had a Commander night again last night, table got owned by Daretti a quick emblem, and an endless stream of strong artifacts in the first game. I did, however, draw a huge number of cards with Necropotence that game. I played my Sigarda Voltron and won game 2, and then I brought out the infamous Fungus deck headed up by Thelon of Havenwood. Took out one player via pumped up Saprolings, but I ultimately lost. Good night overall, all three of us won a game, and many laughs were had (particularly about the number of cards I was playing from Fallen Empires, ah thallids!).
I brought up Tiny Leaders, but I think card availability makes it tougher for us to try it out, because not everyone wants to have to find more new cards to play. We already play with very tight budget constraints to keep folks from having to spend much on playing.

Also, Tiny Leaders is stupid. I've been playing decks with curves below 3 for years and I get ridiculed. "Why play a Legacy deck in EDH?" And then I've tried 1v1 and it's pointless to most EDH players. Yeah, not a fan of the idea at all.
I have to figure out what I want to play in Modern now that my favorite card ever printed just got banned.
Darn you, The DCI!
I am pretty shocked that they pulled the trigger on Pod finally. I guess Pod kinda had felt like Brainstorm to me. Everyone in the room knows it's very strong/overpowered in the format it's in, but it is allowed to stay anyway. I feel bad for the Pod players though, because they invested in something that after surviving many B&R announcements, probably seemed pretty safe to them, and now they have to try (I guess?) to port to some sort of BGx shell instead, unless they were playing Kiki Pod, but I hadn't really seen it to be too prevalent in the Meta recently anyway.
I was surprised to see Treasure Cruise leave Legacy as well. I never got to play with it, but I am happy Dig Through Time was allowed to stay as that was my preferred choice in my UW Blade Control over Cruise. I felt like Cruise had shaken up the Meta in some interesting ways, and that the Legacy meta was adjusting to Cruise fairly well, but alas, these are only my opinions.

Well, I just ordered three copies of Vengevine from the LGS, because I still love me some green creature-based strategies with lots of interactions, and I want to dredge up (literally - everyone say hi, Grave-Troll!) some hasty 4/3's. Maybe it was an impulse buy, but I have a literal thousand in store credit, so dropping 40 bucks isn't really hurting my options that much.
I think that Dig Through Time is probably safe for Legacy and Vintage. I'm just worried that Splinter Twin is going to start dominating with the two pillars of Modern axed. Probably looking at some sort of BUG deck right now. I wonder if there's an option to play the Delve Creatures (the 3/3 flier and the 4/4) to power out Vengevines...

I'd just taken apart my Pod deck this past weekend intending to rebuild it from the ground up instead of tweaking it.
I hadn't meant it to be quite so literal.
Yeah, that is pretty rough. Like I said, I definitely feel bad for the folks that had put the money into the deck over the long run.

On another note, It will be interesting to see where the Legacy meta settles, I guess it will be more or less like it was pre-Cruise printing, which to me isn't too exciting. I was happy with the shake up in the meta, but if the DTB on Source are any indicator, the rise of UR/UWR Delver/Blade variants were making up a very large portion of the overall meta (even if something like SCG events didn't show it as much) and there were fewer Decks to Beat over the last two months showing that it had slimmed the options at the top some as well.

I'm not feeling too bad about it from a price perspective - I played Standard Pod and I've been playing Modern Pod since way back in 2011 when the format was in its infancy. I just really like toolbox creature decks as a playstyle choice. A lot of players seem to like red aggro or U/x/y control, and G/x toolbox decks are the same way for me.
(With that said, I've picked up some Vengevines, so I can at least play something along those lines, even if it's more aggro-combo than control-combo.)

Alright, I got a job. Lower pay by a couple of dollars and I'm commuting, for now. I have every ounce of confidence in myself that I'll get what I was paid and hopefully in six months I'll move to the area.

Looks like tiny leaders is taking off, I feel like whenever I start making decks my playgroup starts shifting towards a new game type.
Both mine and her decks are sub $50, which is awesome. Mine is higher than that now, but only because cards are foiled from what I already owned. I could make a really sweet deck if I pulled cards out of cube but rather not swap back and forth.
