Anyone have any idea what's going on with this card? A couple weeks ago there were numerous copies on eBay and TCG for around fifteen to twenty five dollars. Now there's a total of one auction and TCG has a total of four cards, one at 19 and the other three above fifty. Is this just a matter of an older card being bought up for EDH/casual use, or has this been showing up in a tournament list somewhere?
Someone is a giant moron. I have never seen that card used in legacy or vintage and I doubt EDH has some combo with it outside of wrath of god becoming armageddon and wrath of god in one card, but that isn't exactly good it's just annoying and will likely get the table pissed off at you.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."

This about sums it up. (with the caveat that someone in WotC could know something about Theros that the rest of us don't)

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.
Yeah, all of the combos that I've seen in EDH involve using it to destroy all your opponents' lands, either with Elesh Norn or Goblin Sharpshooter or Curse of Death's Hold or some such shenaniganry. I've been keeping an eye on it, and it was just weird to see it suddenly disappear.
Living Plane used to dominate local retro tournaments about 15 years back, where you could only use cards from Mirage-block and before (With all vintage restricted cards banned). Simoons, Earthquakes, Ernham Djinns and Living Planes made a really nasty deck with BoPs and Elves to accelerate as there just wasn't enough control decks around.
Other than that, it's a cool old card from reserved list and mint copies are getting relatively hard to find. I could see some growth on the card, but anything over 25$ should not be sustainable, unless somebody really goes all out hoarding them.
As mentioned, it's a very random EDH card. I run it in 2 different EDH decks and it sometimes wins games on the spot, much like Rude Awakening. Of course it sometimes implies an overrun effet (Garruk, most likely) or something like Shared Animosity/Beastmaster Ascension, but it does work well.
Then there's the off chance someone will Rout/Terminus you upon declaring your attack, but it Geddons them, too. Thing is, most groups frown upon LD, but with something as symmetrical (unless you use Elesh / Sharpshooter) as this, no one wants to be ther guy that geddoned everyone else.
It's a fun little card, but I'm not sure it's 30$+ worth of fun.

Agreed. Most people frown upon LD but this one is often an exception to the rule and provides some fun interactions. I would not be surprised if this sees a small boost as more people discover it (since its a restricted list rare from legends)... but it shouldn't explode.
Side note: in games I've played people don't even mind this with Elesh Norn or Linvala. It's just a 2 card combo win condition. There are plenty of others ones in EDH. I find most people only mind if you are the guy making the game drag on and be unfun. If you can basically win the game on the spot with the card though.... most people just smile at the interaction... say good game... and next game make sure to nuke any pieces of the combo when they land since they see it coming from then on.
Nature's Revolt keeps this card from getting too crazy, IMHO.
EDIT: People buying Living Plane at crazy prices likely don't know about Nature's Revolt.
That is an excellent point. Back when I bought my living plane it was still about $15 so I didn't mind paying a little more to get a card that was 1CC cheaper... and on the restricted list (so a better potential investment).
Looking at TCGP now though... I don't think I would make the same call... Many EDHers will likely think the same thing.
Linvala is the other option my friend uses in his Sisay deck (along with Elesh) and that works fine with Nature's Revolt too.
At this point in Magic's life cycle, cards from AN/AQ/LG are particularly susceptible to sudden manipulations and huge spikes, especially with more and more people in the game, and more and more people involved in trying to "play the market". The supply of these cards in circulation is very low- whether "bad" rares or "good" rares or "mediocre" rares- and can very easily spike if there's any interest at all, or someone tries to play "MTG Tycoon", or whatever.

Here's the combo I was going to work with this card:
Living Plane + Glare of Subdual
Throw in Root Maze, Static Orb or Winter Orb and watch them squirm. Green control anyone?
My Kamigawa cube.
My Mirage Cube
Also, Night of Soul's Betrayal
I'd still think the default go-to for mass land killing would be Elesh norn, though - and she'll work for both cards.
