I'm really, really surprised by this. Can you link me to ANY FoW being sold online for this price? The lowest I saw on Ebay was 50.
Look at completed auctions, a few have sold around the $45 mark, and most are under $50. I admit, NM ones seem to be going for ~$55, but that's still a far cry from the $65-75 you were proposing.
This maybe the wrong forum and I apologize if it is. But what do you think. I opened a foil Sorin at the prerelease and some guy is either willing to give me to regular sorin's, or a goyf, what would you take?
i would try to sell it or something and buy a dual land with the cash... maybe trade for the goyf and then flip the goyf into a dual land. sorin you should definitely not keep. goyf is cool, but his price is so high and wizards says they are planning on reprinting modern staples. if you want value, take steps needed to turn it into a tropical island or something.
I always feel wary when im trading for alot of money, but yeaterday ifelt quite satisfied with the trade i made and was wondering if i was right to be so.
Heres what i gave him:
55$
Senseis divining top
Polluted delta
Heres what i received in return:
Wasteland
2x volraths stronghold
Reanimate
Entomb
Flusterstorm
Apart from the fact i will play all of the cards i got from him, from an economic point o view was this a good deal for me?

You made 22.25 in profit, based on the number from Magiccards.info [Midrange].
Not bad. You made a profit and got a lot of good legacy/Commander cards. Personally, I would have kept Pile 1, but you did well.
None of the cards on the No-Reprint Policy [May be Volrath's Stronghold is, I am not sure and do not feel like looking it up]. So there is that. The last three are available, but still cost money to get.

For what it's worth Volraths Stronghold is on the reserved list. I think you made out fine on the trade with current value and if the onslaught fetches get reprinted you made out very well.
Seems decent pricewise. My main concern is how elastic Snapcaster's price is post rotation + there may be a chance of him being in an Event Deck.
Thoughts?
This really seems like an ok deal for you, price-wise I have you up about $10 (depending on how EX+ the Taiga is) I do not believe that Snapcaster will hold value like either Taiga or Misty Rainforest and your fears of an event deck could be real (like with Stoneforger)
Basically if you would like the Mages, then the deal seems alright. But remember that the price of standard cards drops when the rotate out of standard, so if you are in for the long haul you might not want to do this trade.

I read that originally as Tropical Island and was screaming why would you do that...then I realized it was Taiga. It seems fair. If it was just about other Standard, I would have said no, but Snappy McCaster is certainly worth it. I would have done unless you are using the Taiga.
In my opinion [Read: I have no facts and could easily be wrong], I think Snappy will retain its value even after the drop, like the fetches.

This may be correct, but even the fetch lands dropped after they rotated (there was a period that they were all going for like 8 each). Cards drop when the rotate out of standard because of the increased supply and decreased demand. With the fetches, because any modern/legacy/vintage/edh/casual deck can basically gain from playing them, their drop in value did not last and demand quickly returned.
I do not play competitive magic, so I do not know if Snapcaster Mage is played in multiple formats sucessfully (Modern, yes. But is it good in Legacy?)
I view the Mages as something like a Vengevine, really good but it could still take a hit after rotation. All that being said, for MiniLuv, if you are planning on using the Mages then this might be a risk that you are willing to take.

Snapcaster is heavily played in Standard, Modern and Legacy and is pretty strong in EDH as well. I really can't see it dropping much. It's one of the most powerful creatures ever printed. It's a staple in basically every format it's legal in.
Well Zen rotated only a few months ago, and the Fetches did not lose any value. I think Snap will not drop. As I said, it is just a feeling with no hard facts.
I'm about to a trade here. Want to know what you think.
Pile A
1 Havengul Lich
1 Huntmaster of the Fells
PICK TWO OF THREE
1 Runechanter's Pike
1 Heartless Summoning
1 Thraben Doomsayer
Pile B
1 Garruk, Primal Hunter
1 Tezzeret Agent of Bolas
Please let me know. I'm hoping to gain Huntmaster, but I'm afraid he might drop soon. Havengul Liche and the rest aren't a huge want, but seems cool and is basically there to help fill the gaps

Its your choice here really. I wouldn't be happy taking either one because I dont need the cards. Its also hard to say since pile A is new stuff for the most part and who knows what will happen.
A proposed trade. I figure the $18 over trade is suitable in this because the delta and tundra are highly sought after, plus I really need it, and the lower half of my side is junk.
I am willing to do:
1 Savannah SP+/NM-
1 Sword of Feast and Famine
1 Snapcaster Mage
4 Scalding Tarn
2 Arid Mesa (One is SP+)
3 Drogskol Captain
4 Mental Misstep
1 Memoricide
2 Tumble Magnet
Your 1 Tundra (unknown condition and set, assume NM rev)
2 Polluted Delta(unknown condition, assume NM)
These aren't even part of the trade:
3 Drogskol Captain
4 Mental Misstep
1 Memoricide
2 Tumble Magnet
The Savannah is nice, the Sword is nice. Snappy and fetches are also nice, but are $20 and $10 staples that can be had in just about any trade binder. Tundra and Polluted Delta are two of the hottest cards in the game. If I was offered that trade I wouldn't be offended, but I also wouldn't even think to try to fix it. It could just be me but going after duals with ZEN fetches is close to shooting for the moon.

I would definitely take the tundra and deltas. No question here. The stuff on the other side is pretty common.
Natural order is less tradable than thoughtseize, but i'm worried that thoughtseize might go down if modern interrest goes down. Your opinion?
Edit: ooohhh seems like the price of natural order has gone way up too... i should probably get trade 2... seems really interresting.
So basically, you're asking if you take the NO or the Thoughtseize? Natural Order is more stable, but it's pretty bad in Legacy right now and has been falling, and was kind of niche anyways, whereas Thoughtseize seems to just keep climbing and has been one of the hardest things to trade for recently, at least in my experience. I'd take the Thoughtseize right now simply for liquidity purposes.

Yeah. Take the blue things unless conditions are significantly worse than NM, and even then, still probably ok.
