I guess I'm also concerned with the possibility of a decline in legacy's popularity with the recent tournie changes, as well as the growth possibility of the MM boxes.
As for what duals/expos, it's mostly Tundras and Bayous and expeditions I need for my cube.

Hmmm. Vials are currently $38 TCGMid (Darksteel is the cheapest version), and the Foothills is $140. So moneywise the trade is roughly even, but I think that the Expedition is the way to go here. Unless you want the Vials to play with now. In general, Modern cards will be reprinted and will lose value, while Expeditions will not.

Pile B easily. Pile A would have to throw in about $5 cash, as you can get a NM hangarback currently for about $10, but gavony and stony will run you right around 13-14. Low price on damaged stony is around 5.25, but the next best price is a nm one for 7.78. Stony has also been steadily rising, even outside of the modern season.
Again, Pile A. Cradle is a Legacy and EDH staple that's on the reserve list. I have not seen one in a trade binder in about a decade. It's definitely worth giving up some utility.

Now I am curious, when I traded Stony Silence was fairly low, but there seems to have been a huge spike recently. Why did that happen?

It is a great SB card vs. Tron. With Twin and Bloom now gone, Tron may have a little more play, thus making silence a little more desirable to have in your SB. Also good vs affinity and spellskite.
I agree with whocansay. If pile A fulfils an immediate need for you then go for it. If not hold the expo. It will only go up and gideons will most likely go down. If anything look for an additional 5-10 of added value to pile A like a serum visions or stony silence.
Ha well in that case, why even consider it in the first place, if you don't mind me asking?
My concern was with the price trajectory of the non-foil fetches vs the Expedition ones. I expect the non-foil fetches to continue to rise over time until reprinted again. The Expeditions are in an interesting place imo, they're pimp but not as pimp as original pack foils (or arguably the Judge foils) and so I'm uncertain as to their future behavior. I don't expect the Expeditions to go down any further, but I don't know if they'll increase in value as much as the non-foils. I suspect that they will, which is why I made the trade, but I wanted to hear other people's opinions.
Edit: also, my understanding of Standard is poor, so I didn't know if we could expect Gideon to shoot up in value at some point and thus should be held onto in the short term.
I've been on the fence about selling my SDCC set and then someone offered this to me on Deckbox. Thoughts?
SDCC Jace is $215 on eBay or $220 on TCG.
Arid Mesa foil is $75.
Foil Cavern of Souls is about $100. LP copies are less, but if you're trading these we're assuming NM.
Expedition Strip Mines are around $70. A little less if you shop around.
So that's $250 (ish) for your $220 (ish) card. Seems good on paper. Are you asking about the future? I think that your odds are fine. Jace will, at best, sluggishly rise. He's already spiked, and he's already played in every format. There's not much room to go up from there. He could drop, although since it's the SDCC version I doubt he'd drop significantly. Meanwhile, you get a foil fetch (known quantity, always good), a foil Cavern of Souls (which, no matter if it's reprinted, will always be the best version of a card that's seeing play in any tribal deck), and an Expedition.
I like Pile A here. ESPECIALLY because SDCC sets are still available for not much more than the cost of Jace.

+1
Also, SDCC cards are surprisingly illiquid. I personally think they look amazing, but a surprisingly high number of players hate them and won't use them. Pile A can always be traded for a bunch of other small things, but you're never gonna find someone that has a lot of what you want in the value of sdcc jace.

Both piles seem like they're due for a drop in value. Pile B was mostly bulk until the pro tour, but Siege Rhinos are about to rotate and have less room for growth since there's an alternate art foil version from preconstructed decks.
I am biased here. I hate Siege Rhino. Still, Pile A is simply much better. It has room to grow. Pile B is essentially just jank once a Modern ban happens. I am also saying this as someone who bought most of the cards from Pile B for around $25.

Pile B is way more playable than Pile A. It'll also drop if WOTC decides to put Bob in MM3. If you're building Jund, feel free to take Bob and don't look back - the fact that you have a good card in your deck is great. What's the dollar value of drawing an extra card every turn? If you're looking at strictly long-term value, take the Expedition, but be willing to sit on it for a couple years.

Do you think the battle lands will hold or exceed their current value though post rotation? I don't see any decks in modern really wanting them, and the only reason I would see to hold the battle expos would be to complete the set more than anything else.
