So I just opened up a blank card (normal sized) in a Planechase pack (it was supposed to be a Sunhome, for the record).
It's one of those with normal MTG back, a black border, and a big black X in the front.
How much is it worth, realistically speaking?
Thank you for the picture! Those should be mandatory for asking questions in this thread.
That's a filler card that was supposed to be destroyed, but managed to make it into the pack. Those go from $20-$40. They're not terribly rare, but it's a fair sight better than a Sunhome

Print Shifts are pretty rare. There's also a Facebook Misprints Group that might be worth asking about it - that's where most of the misprint experts are.
There's a whole common sheet with that shifted black ink problem. Most misprint collectors want one of these, so you should find some bites, but it might take some time, as these have been out there for a long time already and most collectors already have theirs. So keep it visible and sooner or later you will find some bites. Naturally depending on your price. I second KnickM's suggestion of 25$ for a relatively fast sale, but I doubt that anybody will pay more than 50$, as there are at minimum 120 other similar misprints out there. (And yes, there's a foil Brainstorm and foil Counterspell on the sheet too.)
Google searching it seems there are tons of complaints that Avacyn Restored foils were oddly poor, unlike the rest of the Innistrad block. People online complained about it being "darker," "smeared," and similar to FTV foiling, among other criticisms. It also seems that only English AVR foils had this problem -- apparently foreign AVR foils were fine.
This was 3+ years ago though. What's the deal with English AVR foils? Can anyone here confirm they look bad? Was it just the first batch, or did they all turn out poor for some reason?

English pack foils were dark and looked bad. English redemption foils were fine. So there are two different sets of foils, and some people place a premium on one or the other. Personally, I don't care too much (the redemption foils look nicer, but not THAT much nicer).
I can try to do some scans for you when I get home (I'm at work now), but I'm not likely to remember unless you PM me so that it shows up in my inbox. Baby brain, and all that.

I opened this in a pack back when Masques was in print and have had it in my binder since then. It is a blotch-style oval-shaped misprint spread over 2 commons. Unfortunately, both cards are jank, but the black border is discolored to silver and the green on the Vine Trellis is discolored to a bluish-purple. The silvery bits wear very easily: much moreso than a usual Magic card.
Is this interesting?

As promised, I completely forgot about this until you PMed me, at which point I took some photos (apologies for the blur - apparently the focus was on the background). I think that the second picture ("010") is easier to see the difference. Both of these are pack foils - I apparently don't have a redemption foil for this card - but the French pack foil is a "normal"-looking foil. The English pack foil looks double-foiled, almost (but not quite) at FTV-levels. It reflects more light, and while the colors are a bit darker, it's also more washed-out (probably because it reflects more light, so more details get lost in the bling). PM me for more (better) photos if you want to focus on something specific.

That is interesting, yes
Misprints that span two cards like that are generally significantly more desirable than a blotch that's just on one card. You're right, the cards are not good, so we're not talking breaking the bank. I'd probably hazard $20.
BTW, Annorax, someone's trying to eBay the foil Gerrard's Irregulars with a similar shift for $200. Price is currently reduced to $150. 128 views, no offers.

Thank you very much for these. I love that you also have a Gisela mat. Do you specifically collect her?
The french foil is significantly better in my eyes that I'll make the effort to pick her up. I doubt it will bother my playgroup.
Okay, I have another opinion question: Command Tower judge promo vs commander's arsenal. They're both the exact same price. Which do you guys feel looks nicer?
Apologies if these questions do not fit this thread.
Just pulled a Korean Foil Hangarback Walker. Can't seem to find any online (so far) to gauge value. I've been told anywhere from $70-100ish by friends. Any suggestions?

Wow. Nice pull.
So, a Russian foil Jace, Vryn's Prodigy is on eBay for $250. Note that it hasn't sold, that's what someone's trying to get for it. Still, that's not outside the realm of possibility.
Hangarback Walker is the #3 card in Origins, and Korean is about as much in demand as Russian. There's generally not much info about Korean foils, since there are so few transactions, but I'd be really surprised if you put it up for $100 and it didn't get bought really fast. I'd say you could probably ask $150 for it with a straight face.

Thanks! It was awesome! There IS a Russian Foil on eBay for $130 BIN so I'll keep an eye out on that one. Not bad for the 2nd pack of non-english I've ever opened!
I checked ~10 San Antonio Walmarts and Targets last weekend; no trace for them & only one shelf space for the 3-packs. They're probably localized to one area & one vendor, probably Excell given it was Target that the first one turned up at.

Judge promo, every time. Arsenal used FTV-style foiling effects; I think the art would be good if printed normally, but the FTV foiling process just ruins it for me.
I have 4 judge & 1 Arsenal... or will have the Arsenal one long enough to replace it with judge.

Hi, I got this time a couple of "grey border" rares from my boosters, i got 3 in total, desolation twin, ally encampment and shrine of the forgotten gods
i don't know what is the cause, it seems they could not achieve true black in this sheet. Its weird. Most noticeable in the upper borders.
Greetings

Hi Ronny. I had a bunch of Return to Ravnica cards that look like this. I think that it's basically a "low ink in the printer" issue. It doesn't add appreciable value to them, unfortunately.
I put them in my misprint binder, but I should probably just take them out because whenever I flip through it I keep asking myself "Why are these in here?" before seeing the border.

Hey, thanks for your answer
Yeah, I also think they are not the weirdest misprints, though it reminded me the difference you see in the border between American- and European-printed (recent) magic cards under black light. The American-printed magic cards under black light get a greyish border whereas the European ones remain black. Funny things.

I have a FBB (Japanese) 4th Ed. Black Vise. I checked Ebay and the prices found are all over the place (of the "sold" listings), so having trouble pinning down a good approximate price being a FBB card. Can someone give a good, rough estimate of it's value. It is in NM condition.
I also have a really smudged/dirty Enthralling Victor (it is actually grungier looking in person).

Ooo.
That makes my brain hurt looking at it, which means it's an awesome misprint. Now if only it weren't on a terrible, terrible card.
I'd hazard you could probably get $25 for it with little effort, or you could put it up on eBay for $100 and wait for that one person to find it.
