The card's most recent move is on right. means no movement. is a card that wasn't on the list last update. This is the update's hottest mover. (#) is price in CND incl. shipping here.
Some cards threatened to fall off the tally this update, but none did. Instead, Desecration Demon roared back after an absence, all the way to 12th spot. Detention Sphere, Lotleth Troll, and Worldspine Wurm reappeared at the bottom of the tally after an absence. This puts the number of cards worth opening in a booster pack, and therefore on the tally, at 25!
A full discussion of each card isn't possible this update, due to the sheer number of cards on the tally. In summary, Revelation stayed on top and didn't change in value at all recently. Jace, previously on the move upward, stalled at $19 and then fell to $16 recently, just ahead of the top rare, Deathrite Shaman at $15. The 5 shocklands all gained in price as players (and investors) realize the set is essentially out of print, and it could be years before these lands see any new supply. Shocklands are seen by many as pure money, very liquid, very easy to move in and out of, and unlikely to ever suffer a plunge in prices. Angel of Serenity on the other hand fell 10 spots as well as 10 dollars - one of the worst price crashes in recent memory. Armada Wurm, once the top card of the set, hit $3 this update and will likely fall right off the tally next time I redo my prices. Many other rare (and mythic) staple cards round out the list, giving it the depth few sets have ever had.
RTR is still the most valuable set in Standard and that's unlikely to change as it goes out of print and up in price.
Is Desecration Demon's increases purely from standard?
I felt that it was a moral imperative.
He's probably going up based on tokens being perceived as less prevalent in Standard, aye. I hear he's had some test runs and that he's done pretty OK.

Along with many mods, I've moved shop over to MTGNexus. Come check us out!
Figured it was time for another update as its been a while. As always my prices come from the low end of ebay buy it nows (emphasis on playset/4) as well as taking into account the lower end of tcgplayer.
Total Set value:
Mythics: $67 (+$6)
Rares: $103 (+$11)
Common/uncommon sets (ebay): $6
Total set value: $176 (+$17)
Total overall average box value:
Mythics: $20/box (+$2)
Rares: $61/box (+$6)
Common/uncommon sets: $8
Foils: $7 (+$1)
Total overall average box value: $96 (+$9)
Solid increases on many cards across the board this time around. Not too surprising given that we are coming up on rotation and RTR is getting a lot more attention and getting towards the end of its in-print run. I suspect we will only continue to see the box/set values continue to increase over the next couple months as the demand for the set remains strong, but it continues to be opened less as people move their attention to Theros. The largest increases of note were a $5 increase in Jace (something I think pretty much everyone saw coming), and a $3.50 increase in Desecration Demon (something I think most people weren't really anticipating). Otherwise the shocklands all saw an increase (something I expect to continue, given the duals we will have to work with post-rotation), and we saw a continued upswing in staples like deathrite shaman and sphinx's revelation.
Ill likely continue to keep an eye on things, and if there are some more significant changes after the rotation, Ill probably post another update, otherwise, this could very well be my last RTR update for a while.
Back on topic, what do you guys see for the future of mizzium mortars? Will it stay $3ish? Do you guys think it has room to move?
Another congratulations for jcrandall and Rancored Elf!
I think Mortars has room to move. I can see these at $6 because it's the only "Bonfire of the Damned" left in Standard that happens to also kill 4 toughness creatures early on.

Legacy - Sneak Show, BR Reanimator, Miracles, UW Stoneblade
Premodern - Trix, RecSur, Enchantress, Reanimator, Elves https://www.facebook.com/groups/PremodernUSA/ Modern - Neobrand, Hogaak Vine, Elves
Standard - Mono Red (6-2 and 5-3 in 2 McQ)
Draft - (I wish I had more time for limited...)
Commander - Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build) (dead format for me)
Im going to 2nd and 3rd these thanks to Jeff and Elf.
And also pitch in that I belive Mortars will see quite a large jump next rotation. I feel that anywhere from $5-$8 is realistic.
Echo thanks to Jeff and Elf
Mortars are headed to $8. One of the best best out there. The intro decks will finally dry up, and then they will shoot up. Hexproof is real, smitter is real.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
I would say $20 for sure, $25 quite possibly, $30 however seems a bit much, but we'll have to see how strong W/U/? is as a deck for the coming standard environment post rotation.

U/W is obviously good. But from my testing, U/B surprisingly seems stronger mostly because of Thoughtseize (completely wrecks the UW few wincon/revelations decks), Opportunity (only if you aren't running W; also draws an extra card for 6cc), and the replacement of check-lands with cipt-lands (turn 5 Verdicts are much, much more common).
With that said, I've yet to see a decent U/x deck that didn't run Jace, Architect of Thought. IMO, it's a lock for $20-$25 range with a "spike ceiling" of $30+ depending on the popularity of U/X control. Sphinx's Revelation will obviously depend on U/W/x which if anything will most certainly be popular early so, imo, $20-$30 range seems likely especially with the play it continues to see in Modern.
Yeah, good-job Jeff/RE, nice to have a quick/easy place to scan prices here!
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
Esper is the way to go for control. My guess is that Jace will be the most played Mythic in Theroes Standard. $25 is pretty certain. $30 is a little bit iffy because of the supply and that there are so many other good cards in RTR.
macrie has been calling $25 Jace for several months.... and he's finally right
* rancored_elf is just buggin ya *
As for Sphinx's, I have said this before but I'll say it again, I don't think it will be a Legacy darling like it was a Standard darling. Probably some Modern love, I dunno. But people thinking it will go up after rotation may be in for disappointment. Deathrite, Loxodon, Supreme Verdict, Mizzium, and others have way more upside potential IMO. Sphinx's is good in Standard, not as good in larger formats. It might be okay to hold your copies, but stocking up on extras at these high prices.... nah.
Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
The card isn't even good in EDH or Casual, as it gets worse the more players there are.
Edit: According to sites like MTGOGoldfish it's currently very prevalent in standard.
http://www.mtggoldfish.com/format-staples/standard
But you are right, it's about damn time!
Not everyone is interested in speculating.
