Hand of the Preators seems like it could be a good pick up. Foil Mimic Vats are also a good pick up. Knight Exemplar has risen $3 already in the last week, so it's probably too late to nab that.
Lux Cannon could be a good pick up, and the risk is pretty minimal as it's so low right now.

Why specifically Foil mimic vat? Just curious.
Grand architect will go through the roof with the right artifact with high mana cost. As it stands he can help cast a turn 4 Wurmcoil easily.
Mimic Vat is a strong card, and many people seem to use them in EDH decks as well. Since a lot of EDH players like to foil out their decks, it seems like the foil Mimic Vat is a good pick.

I see, I 've had mine for a while and havn't gotten very many inquiries.
Time to watch out for Genesis Wave, after that GU deck making rounds the latest days. Also for Sword of Body and mind, which is becoming an ubiquitous SB against all the powerful GU/GUx decks around. Also, I've been seeing around twice as many lists with Venser (admittedly 1 or 2 of) than with koth. Their positions in the list should shift any time now.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.

Masticore is there. And try, turn 3 Wurmcoil ;). The problem is consistently drawing/resolving an Architect.
Argent Sphinx is kinda in the same boat... hopefully in the next set or two, blue and artifacts will make more waves - so tired of seeing/playing blue/x control.
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
Venser is at 10 tickets online right now, hard not to invest in a playset for 40 tickets if your even slightly inclined to think he will be good. The grand architect/ Agent sphinx deck is all the rage this week though, and he doesn't make that list as it is mono blue. The bottom line is that there was a chase mythic in this set and WOTC made it the promo. If that were not the case Wurmcoil would probably be 20-25 tickets and certainly more pricey than Koth as it sees play in both the mono blue list and the mono Red lists that dominate the block as it is now.

Thank god, I'd be pissed if wizards printed a dude that literally can go in anything at mythic and it turned out to be the most expensive chase mythic that set.
Molten-Tail Masticore is at $7.99 on troll & toad right now should I pick it up now or do you guys think it will drop some more?
As far as all the scars cards go right now, I say pick the cheap ones up now. When besieged gets spoiled (and then released) those prices are probably all going up. Reason #2? SOM block is here, and we're stuck with it for a LONG time. Get it now while it's cheap and supply is good. Worldwake is up to about $200/box and Jace 2.0 is only 1/2.5 boxes...hardly worth the price of admission.
Have to disagree, BoltzRcheap. Most drafts will still have 2 packs of SOM, increasing supply on the market, then still one more, when the final set of the block comes (as opposed to WW, which stopped being drafted when the next set came).
MTM is going to go cheaper still, as money starts chasing Beseiged cards; my question for Tricky RC is are you looking to use it in games? Then buying it and using it will help mitigate the price drop--you've gotten some use out of it, vs. not using it and buying it later for cheaper. If, on the other hand, you're trying to buy it in the hopes it's about to gain some value, no, I wouldn't.

worldwake cards haven't started going up until basically very recently, and it's just under a year since they were released but they've been seeing play since release.
what makes you think a set that sees very little play, if any at all, in any format is going to see any large gains in the immediate future, particularly from a large expansion that is still being used in limited events, with no indication that these cards have a power level that even brushes up against the current constructed status quo?
speculating based off of inverse facts is fun too, i guess, though.
my thought for speculation is that you will not see any significant gains in any cards from scars block constructed until after zendikar (and to a lesser extent, m11) is out of standard. the new tezzeret is absolutely sick in the abstract of "grand architect, trinket mage, some other artifacts, gee gees" but completely useless in a world of jace and titans.
Well put Kijin. You have to *attempt* to value cards in a jace-free environment. Indeed in a titan free one, assuming they do not see reprinting. The bottom line is that there is no card we have seen yet that is as strong as lotus cobra, or Jace, or Vengevine for instance. Its a fact that Jace is undercosted and pretty much head and shoulders better than anything else playable right now, so it is very easy to compare everything to him and lable it crap. But he does eventually rotate, and it appears the SOM power level is not going to be on par with what we saw in the Zendikar block.
Of course tommorrow they could spoil an insane U mythic, so its all up in the air.
I was thinking about buying it just so I have some available if I decide to build a deck down the road but I am not in dire need of it at the moment so I think I can wait and see if it does drop. Thanks for the replies guys.

That's basically the point I was making; Scars is new now, and 'it sucks' because we have zendikar in play right now. When zen rotates out, we're going to be "stuck" with scars for quite some time...when besieged and part 3 come out, we may find a use for venser, mox opal, and elspeth that are not understood now.
I'm just saying it's not a bad idea to get the cards now before it's found out that [.insert janky mythic here] is a format breaker when the new sets are released.

your post said values are going to climb after MBS is released, which is not going to happen at all, 100%, with the only exception being if some cards in MBS that is good breaks a card in SOM wide open. but again, that's for one card, not for the entire set as a whole or even multiple cards/archtype-centric cards.

Well, a few more weeks and we seem to have finally hit stabilization. Not much movement to speak of this time around, with a little up and a little down overall. Spoilers are coming in quickly now for mirrodin beseiged, so thats helping I imagine with some of the cards. Ill post another update in a week or so. Enjoy!
So out of the SOM rares that are currently 50centsish physical, what are you stocking up on? Shape anew I think has already left junk rare status (a dollar on starcity) and is no longer available from the bulk rare bots on MTGO. Ezuri's brigade is still dirt cheap, and I just dont see how it isnt getting played in the new standard this fall. I've picked up a bunch of resevoirs, grindclocks, vensers journals, and kemba's too; although those are more speculative.
I think Hellkite has the best chance of going up if Titans don't get reprinted. Right now Wurmcoil sees more play, but that may change.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.

Honestly, you'd have to almost pay me to take a Scars box. So little in the set is worth anything anymore.
In seriousness, I'd pick one up for no more than $50.
