I have some decent valued rares, and I'm in need of lots of older inexpensive singles that are hard to find besides in online stores. What stores give the best value (an extra % for cashing out in store credit included)?
It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for the winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came and the grasshopper died and the octopus ate all his acorns. And also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?
You're better off waiting and selling them at a major event. Most shops won't give you more than 10 cents or a quarter... but at least with the "dealers" at a event you might get some okay numbers for things that sell well for them in their junk bins so they buy for higher.
Otherwise always carry a "junk rare" book and throw in good uncommons. You'd be shocked how well people will trade for some of that stuff.

Maybe I should've been more clear. I have some more valuable rares (cards in the $5+ dollar range) and I want to obtain a large number of select cheaper rares for some casual and EDH decks.

Instead of selling, which you will most likely lose some value on, why don't you try trading here on the forum? I'm sure some people would be happy to trade up into some more valuable cards for what you are looking for.
Plains - John Avon - 230
Island - Jung Park - 235
Island - Vincent Proce - 237
Swamp - John Avon - 238
Mountain - John Avon - 242
Forest - John Avon - 246
CoolStuffInc seems to have decent trade in value for singles. You might also want to try CapeFearGames.
Since you're going for store credit, both of these places offer bonuses.

I've thought about it, but I'd rather not sell/trade my cards piecemeal, and I'm doubtful that I'll find the cards I need.

Honestly I'd still say hit up larger events. I was able to trade a Mox Diamond for almost a complete deck from a guy who just happened to take apart the exact same build. I've had that kind of luck multiple times. I was missing a handful of key peices for my warp world and they were almost all uncommons... well some guy had them in his binder and I traded a rare he needed for his Standard deck for all of them.
Cardkingdom offers 20% on trade in and good buy prices.

Odds of pulling a JtMS from a WWK pack: 1:80
Odds of pulling any specific rare in 5th Edition: 1:133
So, on average, 1 JtMS every 2.222 boxes or 1 Bird of Paradise every 3.694 boxes. Yeah, I'll take my odds with Mythics, they are easier to get than old rares.
