You already missed the best window on shocks... but now is as good a time as any. They are only going to slowly go up
For Ally fetches... this is almost the perfect time. I think they bottomed out a little bit ago... but they are only going up from here. They will dip a little when they rotate from standard... but not a lot and they will likely be at a higher price than they are now.
Not true on the shocks, the majority of them are still lower priced than what they were when they rotated out of Standard. Only Steam Vents, Sacred Foundry and Breeding Pool are higher with Watery Grave being level (And the only one significantly higher is Steam Vents).

Fair enough. Many of them are still at their low... but I just meant he missed it on some of them already (but only by a couple bucks each). They are still not too bad though and he should get whatever he needs now.
In a 3-color Modern deck like Abzan Company or WUR Twin, you generally want 8 fetchlands and 3-4 shocklands. Legacy doesn't want shocks at all. I would buy fetches.
The player base isn't exploding as much as Wizards would like it to since RTR so there is plenty of RTR product out there for all the non-standard players and it will be the same for fetches except fetches get legacy demand, especially the blue ones.
Fact is you can still buy boxes of all 3 sets of RTR block for reasonable prices. DGM packs have random shocks inserted.
The thing that fuels price hikes is buyouts and it's very hard to buyout anything from RTR block onwards as there is just so much of it.
Fetches have already started ticking up. Hallowed fountain and other shocklands have been at very low prices for quite some time and will likely stay there as modern decks aren't running playsets of them. The only ones that have gone up since leaving standard are steam vents, foundry, breeding pool. So buying shocklands right now is way fine. I don't see them going up soon personally since there are so many out there for sale. Fetches are allstars in all the formats and ticking up so I would obtain them RIGHT NOW. You missed the boat on $10ish deltas and strands but getting in right now is something you will not regret what you will regret is if you don't get in now and see them continue to climb over time. I stockpiled them for this reason when they were cheaper.
