The arena master opens up a pit. "Ladies and gentlemen! Another match here! Xen of the Druids is fighting the Chaplain of the Warlocks!" He quiets down. "Alright gentlemen, I want a clean fight. No cheating. Understand?"

OOC: Sorry.
IC: The Chaplain steps forward and conjures up a pillar of darkness. At the same time, a ghostly shadow of a monkey appears next to him. The monkey dissipates into a red orb and he uses the power to perform a rite. He uses the power from the rite to conjure an artifact, then he channels the mana from the black pillar into the artifact to summon a second artifact.

OOC: I'm completely confused by your post because you don't have enough mana. Could you please fix it? So far I only see 2 total mana that could be used to summon a Rakdos Signet unless you are using Rite of Flame but wouldn't that be four spells played from the hand when we are limited to three a turn unless we draw cards? I'm confused.
OOC: The keyboard acts up. I typed the Rite of Flame in the Graveyard but it didn't take.
That being said, where are you getting the fourth spell?
1. Rite of Flame
2. Rakdos Signet
3. Rakdos Signet

OOC: Oh, I thought Simian Spirit guide counted as a spell played since it is being removed from the game. Guess not.
Xen steps into the Arena and takes note of the speed with which the Chaplain gathered his mana to himself. Breathing calmly Xen allows the tranquility of the Forests to consume his psyche. In doing so Xen summoned forth an aura of green magic causing a mirage to grow behind him. The mirage depicted a lush green forest that dimmed in conjunction with Xen's aura as he summoned forth an elf that stepped out from behind a tree in the forest and into the Arena.
OOC: Nope. It's limited to once per turn, and has been restricted, but it does not count against spells per turn.
IC: The Chaplain smiles and draws upon another mana source, this one red. He uses it to perform another rite, only this one gives him three red orbs. He uses two to activate his signets and then draws upon all power to place two auras around the battlefield. One ties Xen's mind to his body, the other reverses the tie.
Never forget: there's always someone bigger, better and stronger than you.

The Chaplain conjures up another red pillar and channels a tendril of black mana into one of the signets. He then channels one of that bit of activated mana in to the other signet and conjures up a demonic creature with wings. The creature, when it rips loose, pulls two red orbs out of The Chaplain's mind. As they get pulled out, The Chaplain channels a little red mana into each of them. Each orb explodes into a ball of flame that fires at Xen (OOC: Played Avatar of Discord, discarding two castings of Fiery Temper, then played them for their madness costs, take 6 damage, discard two cards, then take four more--you just took 10).
Never forget: there's always someone bigger, better and stronger than you.

Xen quickly responds to the two flamings spheres launched at him. First he called upon the power of one of the elves to focus his connection to his mana. Then he summoned forth his power into a force of nature destroying the enchantment that would rip spells from his mind. After which Xen recoils from the flame engulfing him.

Xen takes a step back and extends his arms and hands outwards forming a t-shape. As he does this one of the elves begins to chant helping him focus his mana. Soon his aura and mirage grows wider revealing five trees near Xen with many more in the distance.
Looking at the demonic creature summoned, Xen brings his left arm to bear on the foul spawn and points. Behind Xen two of the trees seem to waver as green energy crawls down from Xen's left eye to his pointing finger. From the tip of his finger launches a primal beam of energy that wraps around the demonic beast making it docile.
Breathing calmly Xen then focuses his energy into his right hand. As three of the trees waver green energy crawls down from his right eye to his right hand. Flipping his hand and arm heavenward Xen summons a creature that comes walking out behind one of the trees warily. The creature, a troll, looks at the docile demon and then to the Chaplain as it crosses from the mirage and into the Arena.
Momentarily exhausted Xen sloaches a bit as he looks at the Chaplain trying to predict his opponents next move.
OOC= Ending my turn and just barely hanging in from the power of this mage. Looks like the guy is a level 3 mage at least. This should be fun and tasking.
The Chaplain just smiles as he conjures up another red mana source. He casts a pair of spells targeting the demon, causing it to grow larger. He then reaches out with a hand that is charged with red mana, picks up the demon and throws it at Xen (double Brute Force on the Avatar of Discord, then cast Grab the Reins, sacrificing the Avatar to deal 11 damage to Xen).

Xen quickly releases all of his mana and unsummons his creations as he steps back into the neutral box. While there he bows his head and brings both arms down to his side with palms turned down parralel to the ground indicating defeat.
OOC= Damn. The Chaplain is one hell of a strong Rakdos mage with a full satchel it seems. I could easily see him being a level 3 or 4 mage. Anyway good game. Before you close the thread I would like to role play with the Chaplain for maybe two more posts after this one where I submit to defeat.
Edit: OOC: Wow. I just did a forum search on the Chaplain. Man I should of done that before choosing at random. Had I known he was a former champion I would of challenged the other guy. Oh well Xen didn't know and the Chaplain sounded like an intriguing fellow.
OOC: I won't close it just yet. Feel free to RP with him.

Xen walks around to the other side of the arena and says, "Well done. You were quite the opponent and some of those your spells took me by surprise, especially that last one."
Bowing Xen then asks, "How would you rate my skill?"
"You have a fine mind for deceptive maneuvering, young one. Get some better spells and you will be a force to be reckoned with. Learn some speed, perhaps. I would recommend that you join the Gruul Clans or the Golgari Swarm."

Xen bows again and says, "Thank you for this lesson. Though I do not feel a calling to the black or red manas I do respect their teachings and philosophies. I understand the need for sacrifice and destruction, all of it is a part of the life cycle."
Rising from the bow Xen continues, "Just as I see the power and need for sacrifice and destruction so too do I see the need for order and balance. For these reasons I feel a calling to the white and blue mana. In due time I will seek out the Selesnya for their teachings and perhaps one day I shall speak with the Simic."
"Know that whatever my choice in the future may be that I will remember what you have taught me from this lesson."
With a final bow Xen says, "The black and red mana is a powerful source that must be respected less it consume you. Farewell Chaplain. The next time we meet I will be a more challenging opponent."
Taking his leave Xen turns from the Chaplain and leaves the Arena. Soon Xen is walking down the streets towards the Shanodia Druids.
