I'm wondering if I would be able to cast Spellmorph Raise Dead from the graveyard as a morph creature with Toshiro Umezawa's trigger.
His trigger only cares about the card being an instant card, which Spellmorph Raise Dead is when it's in the graveyard. And Spellmorph Raise Dead just states that you may cast it as a morph creature. It seems to me like this would be legal.
Strictly speaking, spellmorph has no effect at the time of this writing; indeed, the comprehensive rules don't define any keyword ability or keyword action called spellmorph at the time of this writing (review C.R. 701, 702). (Even so, however, players can still agree on how spellmorph works in their unsanctioned casual games. In this sense, the reminder text of Spellmorph Raise Dead can serve as inspiration for the rules those players adopt for spellmorph. See also this thread.)
In any case, you can cast (C.R. 108.1) the targeted instant card as an instant or noninstant spell with Toshiro Umezawa if the card somehow allows you to do so (e.g., if it's a modal double-faced card whose front face is an instant but whose back face is neither an instant nor a land [C.R. 712.7, 712.7a, 712.4a]) (C.R. 701.4a). Indeed, you cast the spell this way at a moment that spells normally can't be cast, not even instant spells (C.R. 608.2g; see also this thread).
Awesome! Thanks for those CR sections. Yeah, I know it's not a legal card, just wondering if something like this would work. Good connection with bringing in the double faced cards!

Thoughts?
Thanks!
