I was recently told that its possible to manifest a high mana cost instant or sorcery, such as Omniscience, in order to cheat it out without paying the mana cost. If you manifest a sorcery, it comes into play as a 2/2 creature. If you flicker it, it should return to play face up, but I'm, skeptical about the claim that the sorcery spell will go into effect automatically when this happens. What DOES happen when you manifest a non-permanent and then flicker the manifested card?
In general, the card will enter exile face up (by default [C.R. 406.3]) and stay in exile. When an instant or sorcery card (which Omniscience is not, by the way) would enter the battlefield, it remains in its previous zone (C.R. 304.4, 307.4). See also this thread.
Note that neither manifesting a card nor returning a card to the battlefield is the same as casting a spell (compare C.R. 701.34 with C.R. 701.4).

If you have heard that you can cheat out Omniscience via manifest. This is correct. If you have heard you can cheat out an Instant or Sorcery via manifest. This is incorrect.
As peteroupc said instants and sorcery that were manifested that are then flickered will enter exile and stay there. However, any permanent card that is manifested such as Omniscience will return from exile face up.
Sorry, my mistake. I got Omniscience mixed up with Enter the Infinite in my mind. Enter the Infinite, being a sorcery, would go to exile and stay there, but Omniscience would return face up and remain in play (as an enchantment). This is very helpful. Thanks.
