I play a Cascade card like Violent Outburst and it cascades into a Treetop Ambusher which is 1G but it has a Dash cost of 1G. May I choose the Dash cost instead of the actual casting cost? I have searched for an answer and cannot find it. Thoughts? Thanks.

No. Cascade imposes an alternative cost ("without paying its mana cost"), and you can only apply one alternative cost to a spell. Since you have to use this one with cascade, any others are not available, including dash.
Thanks. So the Dash cost even though it says "you may cast this spell for its Dash cost" is not considered its "mana cost" when Cascade occurs. Seems like it should work but it is why I asked. Thank you.
I could only find this on Scryfall...
Notes and Rules Information for Mardu Scout:
If you choose to pay the dash cost rather than the mana cost, you’re still casting the spell. It goes on the stack and can be responded to and countered. You can cast a creature spell for its dash cost only when you otherwise could cast that creature spell. Most of the time, this means during your main phase when the stack is empty. (2014-11-24)

The mana cost is always what's printed in the upper right corner of the card (with the exception of some Future Sight cards, where its on the upper left).

Under C.R. 702.108a, "dash [cost]" means, in part, "You may cast this spell by paying [cost] rather than its mana cost".
Okay thanks. I understand how it works I guess my problem was with the wording and with the second layer. So the "rather than" makes it a separate cost set apart from casting cost. Wish it wasn't that way but I understand the "how" now. Much appreciated to both of you.

Well, the casting cost is what you end up having to actually pay for the spell. The mana cost is the default cost of the card without any additional costs, cost increases/reductions, etc.

So Dash cost is NOT a mana cost then. Correct?
