At the beginning of the end step, I returned Gisela to the battlefield first from the delayed triggered from Eerie Interlude, then I resolved the trigger from Gisela and then proceeded to meld the two into Brisela, Voice of Nightmares.
I believe I played this correctly because of APNAP ordering on the stack. Two of my fiends insisted I was incorrect, that when Gisela returned to the battlefield it has already past the beginning of the end step. Basically their reason was that Gisela had to be present on the battlefield BEFORE the beginning of the end step; Gisela should have had to be present on the battlefield at the end of the post combat main phase.
I tried explaining APNAP ordering but they kept insisting that I had missed the beginning of the end step and the Gisela trigger would not happen. Thoughts?
Your friends are correct on this one. Gisela only triggers at the beginning of the end step, and she was currently in exile when that point of time happened. You will have to wait until your next end step to Gisela to trigger again if you meet the requirements still
W may only be paid with white mana. U may only be paid with blue mana. B may only be paid with black mana. R may only be paid with red mana. G may only be paid with green mana. C may only be paid with colorless mana. 1 may be paid with white, blue, black, red, green, or clolorless mana.
You don't get a meld trigger during that turn. For that to occur, both Bruna and Gisela must both be on the battlefield when the end step begins. But Gisela is still in exile, until the delayed trigger from the Interlude returns her. So yes, your friends were correct for the reasons they stated.
APNAP mostly applies to putting triggers on the stack at the same time. But Gisela's meld trigger doesn't fire because its condition isn't met (she's not even on the battlefield at that time), so it is never put on the stack in the first place.
