There was a bit of confusion my opponent and I had earlier.
I was attacking with, let's say, Runeclaw Bear for the win. My opponent then activates his Inkmoth Nexus. I then went to use Geistflame before he could declare blockers. My opponent said the Runeclaw bear was still blocked arguing that he had priority as it went to the declare blockers step and there wasn't any time for me to use my Geistflame before blockers are declared.
Is there anyone that could clarify this please? Who was right, my opponent or myself?

Am I the only one who enjoys beating someone with Mindslaver? And by "beat" I mean animating Mindslaver and whacking the opponent with him?
Your opponent must animate the Inkmoth Nexus during the declare attackers step after attackers are declared. After its ability has resolved you may cast Geistflame targeting the Nexus to destroy it and stop it from being declared as a blocker.
What your opponent is describing would involve the game moving to the Declare Blockers step immediately upon resolution of the Inkmoth ability. The game never moves to the next step until both players receive and pass priority while the stack is empty. You will have an opportunity to cast Geistflame before your opponent gets to declare blockers.
If your opponent declares everything in one action ("Animate Inkmoth and block with it") this is a shortcut, and you are allowed to interrupt the shortcut to perform a different action ("Still in Declare Attackers, Geistflame it after it's animated.")
