Okay, I have kind of a weird question. For kicks I'm in the process of building a quirky enchantment deck and I noticed the difference in card text for Curse of Chains and Narcolepsy.
At the beginning of each upkeep, tap enchanted creature.
Narcolepsy checks every upkeep to see if the enchanted creature is untapped and if it is, taps the creature. Curse of Chains, however, taps the creature at the beginning of each upkeep, regardless of whether the creature is tapped or not, correct?
My question is this. Let's say I have enchanted my opponent's creature with Curse of ChainsandStinging Licid. Will Stinging Licid deal two damage to my opponent each upkeep or only on my opponent's upkeep, after his creature has untapped?
I'm almost 100% certain that Stinging Licid will only deal damage on my opponent's upkeep because it uses the wording "becomes tapped" and is already tapped during my upkeep. However, if that is the case, can someone give me an example of when the difference in phrasing between Narcolepsy and Curse of Chains would actually come into play?
Thanks!

Force of Will is kind of like duct tape. Stick it in a deck and it will fix all your problems.
What would a game of Magic between Harry Potter and Voldemort look like?
An ability that triggers when a permanent "becomes tapped" triggers only when that permanent goes from being untapped to being tapped. Your opponent will take 2 damage only during his upkeep, not during yours (unless the creature has become untapped in the meantime).
The difference between Narcolepsy and Curse of Chains is that Narcolepsy has an "intervening if" clause in its trigger, so the trigger is not put on the stack at all unless the creature is untapped when it triggers. Mostly, this does not matter. However, it has some implications. For example, if Curse of Chains is on a tapped creature, the trigger goes on the stack during your upkeep. If, in response, you untap the creature, it will become tapped again. Contrast Narcolepsy: if you control a narcoleptic creature, there is no trigger during your upkeep unless the creature is already untapped, so you cannot cause the creature to get tapped by Narcolepsy, even if you untap it.
More importantly, though, the wording of Narcolepsy means that on Magic Online, the player's time is not wasted with a trigger that has no effect.

Only on your opponent's upkeep. The relevant rule:
Quote from "Comprehensive Rules" »
603.2d Some trigger events use the word "becomes" (for example, "becomes tapped" or "becomes blocked"). These trigger only at the time the named event happens -- they don't trigger if that state already exists or retrigger if it persists. Similarly, they don't trigger if an object enters a zone in that state.
Example: An ability that triggers when a permanent "becomes tapped" triggers only when the status of a permanent that's already on the battlefield changes from untapped to tapped.

Sure. I attack you with my Grizzly Bears, which is enchanted with one of those auras.
At the beginning of your upkeep, the Curse of Chains trigger is put on the stack. But Narcolepsy's trigger is not, as it has an intervening if clause which isn't satisfied.
In response, I untap it with Twiddle. If the enchantment was Curse of Chains, it will retap the Bears when it resolves. If it was Narcolepsy, the Bears will remain untapped as the trigger was never put on the stack.
