My question is does this only trigger upon you "willingly" throw a land card into the graveyard or- would things such as being forced to discard cards or Life of the Loaming cards into the graveyard or better yet discarding cards for Devistating Dreams affect- or etc. cause it to go off?
You have to pay the cost specifically for the ability. That is, you have to willingly pitch a land card to pay for Seismic Assault's cost. If it happened whenever a land went to your graveyard, it would say something like Dingus Egg.

An ability exists on the stack independently of its source. Removal of the source after that time won't affect the ability. Some abilities cause a source to do something rather than the ability. Any activated or triggered ability that references information about the source checks that information when the ability is put onto the stack. Otherwise, it will check that information when it resolves. If the source is no longer in the zone it's expected to be in, its last known information is used.
It is an activated ability, so you have to pay it's cost to get the effect. You have to buy a cake to get a cake. You don't get a cake when someone else buys a cake.
Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
