Null Profusion Skyshroud Ranger
I always forget to do that.
Anyways: Say I have Null Profusion in play, and Skyshroud Ranger. I use the ranger's ability to play a land. Does putting the land trigger Profusion, or does it not [since it says I need to 'play' the land]?

Putting the land into play will not trigger null profusion.
In fact, playing the land from your hand won't either. Playing a land doesn't use the stack, and doesn't count as playing a spell.

Incorrect. "Playing" something involves the following:
Quote from Comprehensive Rules, Glossary: "Play" »
The act of playing a spell, land, or ability involves announcing the action and taking the necessary steps to complete it.
Playing a spell or activated ability requires paying any costs and choosing any required modes and/or targets. See rule 409, “Playing Spells and Activated Abilities.”
Playing a land simply requires choosing a land card from the hand and putting it into play. See rule 212.6, “Lands.”
Playing a mana ability requires paying any costs, then immediately resolving the ability. See rule 411, “Playing Mana Abilities.”
Triggered abilities and static abilities aren’t played—they happen automatically. See rule 410, “Handling Triggered Abilities.”
While playing a land is a special action that doesn't use the stack, it is still considered playing a card. This will trigger Null Profusion's ability. A spell or ability that causes a land to be put into play won't cause Null Profusion to trigger, but this is because that action isn't the same as playing a land card.
