I have seen this card mentioned numerous times in various threads. I would like to set the record straight if possible. After extensively searching all possible methods, there is no way to weaponize this card. The wording makes it impossible to get something without that initial sacrifice. You can't use any method to duplicate the final ability simply because the eon counter isn't part of activation cost, it is part of the ability, and cannot be duplicated by cards like Rings of Brighthearth because the ability itself doesn't have a valid target during the copy. If you tried putting extra counters on you lose them because, no matter what, the first time the ability resolves the card is back in your hand. You can't remove a counter or return it to your hand more than once; and if those portions of the ability aren't completed then the extra turn does not resolve. The only way to gain any use of the card that tips the scales in your favour would be convoluted additional combo's using mindslaver etc., and they would really only be effective in 1v1 games. Has anyone else discovered anything that could possibly negate the downsides to this card?
You can copy all the non-mana abilities of Magosi with Rings of Brighthearth, as long as you can activate it in the first place.
For the copy you dont need Magosi in play, the rings dont target anything either, they just trigger (Whenever) and you can pay mana to get the copy.
Going "infinited" in a loop to get extra turns over and over is at least somewhat difficult with the card, it has to be difficult, otherwise the card would be downright insane and banned.
The card is old and there are plenty of threads for it, as the card is pretty much a EDH / Commander only card as it really badly requires a Rings of Brighthearth to function in a favorable way.
The extra turns given to you by Magosi, the Waterveil speed up suspend, while your opponents can't use their extra turns to attack. A staple in my old Azorius Turbofog list.
Everything in an activated ability before the : is part of the cost, everything behind it is the actual ability.
Neither ability on Magosi, the Waterveil has any target.
