I've had a few bad experiences with people ragequitting recently and I need someplace to vent.
Most recently, a fellow I was playing used Bribery on me in Commander to steal an Ashen Rider from my deck, then proceeded to get angry and quit because the other player and me pointed out that he couldn't use his Venser, the Sojourner to bounce his turn-3 Ashen Rider and proceed to exile all of our permanents. Afterwards he told me never to try playing with him again, because he thought we were playing a "casual" game, which apparently to some people means you don't have to follow all of the rules.
Does anyone else have stories they'd like to get off of their chests?
I had a guy ragequit the other day. We were in the quarter-finals of a GPT to which we both already had two byes. I beat him after we both made less-than-optimal plays. Luckily (for his well-being more than mine) he didn't direct his frustrations toward me. His friends, who were watching the match, got the brunt of it. He did, however, have the whole "freakin' noob scrub beat me" air to his attitude. In the moment, I was a little uncomfortable.
It really was a positive experience in the end. About an hour later, the incident popped back into my mental queue. It reminded me to be equally gracious in losses and in wins. This introspective moment really helped solidify the role in my life that I allow this game to play. I consider myself to be a serious player, but I never want to allow a loss to obscure the reason(s) that I do this in the first place. Fun, connecting with like-minded individuals, challenging myself and others...not pride.

With the way he's telling the story, it sounds like he's saying that it changed his attitude about winning and losing ever since then (I'm sure he's had losses since then to give this story credence). If this occurred say yesterday, then I can see what you're trying to insinuate here, but it really doesn't make sense if you think about it.
There is an "angry" guy at my LGS. Not sure why he keeps playing if he is so unhappy. No one wins all the time. No One.
Pretty much everyone is tired of him and ready for him to go away to a different store. A few have spoken to him but nothing changes for more than a day or two.
Overall just negative comments all the time. You can see that he isn't having fun.
Has made some comments like "can't stand loosing to a BS deck and someone that isn't as good as me".
It's not that difficult to be a decent person. I have had bad beats in PTs, PTQ top 8s, at GPs, etc. and have managed every single time to laugh it off, shake my opponent's hand and offer him good luck the rest of the way.
In similar situations when the roles are reversed, I often encounter people who are visibly upset about the loss. I don't blame them for that. In such situations I calmly wish them good luck the rest of the way (assuming that it's not a PTQ top 8 or something where I've eliminated them). Most of the time they say thanks. Occasionally I get someone who rages and tells me how lucky I am, and how bad I played, etc. Most of the time I was neither particularly lucky, nor did I play bad. I have found that very rarely do I encounter behavior like this from someone who played very well.
Whatever, it is the sign of an unhappy person. Doesn't excuse their behavior, but makes me pity them. Hopefully they will gain the happiness in their lives that will prevent them from trying to project misery on other people.

If I had a dollar for every time I missed playing a Counterspell ...
I'd be missing my Mana Drain s instead.
I had a friend tell me he'd never play against my Manaless Dredge deck ever again after game 1.
Know the feeling. It gets lonely sometimes.
I have a friend that is fine as long as he is winning, rubs it in something fierce, big ego. The second he has a bad game or starts losing he goes on about quitting Magic, selling his decks, etc.
I was running my modded Prossh precon, and dropped a Nantaku cultivator (the dude who produces damage = insect 1/1'), equipped it with a Druid's call (does the same thing but with squirrels), had Primal Vigor out....
And then played Blasphemous Act. My opponent ragequit on the spot.
Between Mana Leak, Snapcaster Mage and Cryptic Command drawing into more I made my one friend rage quit all the time.
"You always have $@&*ing Cryptic Command."
Same guy even had to spend nearly $80 dollars on a play set of Cavern of Souls when it came out just because I would
never allow him to resolve a Geralf's Messenger when playing his Modern Zombie deck.
Elves make people rage quit; with every play group I've join once I resolve something like Genesis Wave everyone just throws their hands in the air and rages.
I purposely allowed some guy to build up his field while I was playing Valakut. I had lethal with a Khalni Heart Expedition ready, but he never enters combat unless he has a larger fleet than the one at D-day.
I had a guy concede twice to me in 1 round at fnm. Before we got paired up he was laughing at me for playing mono G devotion in the current standard. I shrugged it off and told him I hope we get paired up. Well he was playing RG monsters, I had already beaten 2 other rg monster decks that day (this is round 4) we start playing and every creature he puts out I put out a bigger one, but the real kicker was when he lands a stormbreath dragon and cant attack because I had Deadly Recluse out. The card he laughed at me for having is now sitting there waiting to eat his dragon. He wont even talk at this point, same scenario both games and both games he conceded. Was very humorous.

Vintage. That's about it. Maybe Standard, if it could get it together into something interesting enough to play.
I once had a guy walk out of FNM bc he was playing a red/black aggro deck and I unburial rited a Stormtide Leviathan. I didn't think that was a very degenerate line of play but I guess I was wrong....
I only get mad when I mana flood but I don't like get mad at my opponent. Have had several guys ragequit against me which always makes me nervous. I don't think I'm taken seriously as a competitor at my store. One time a guy got paired down in a draft he was undefeated in the last round, my R/G ramp deck just tore through him. He had a fit. One time a guy ragequit early in game 2 when i countered his 4th spell in a row. At the time i had 12 counterspells in my 75 since esper was a popular deck at my store. I know there were others. One guy was playing blue/green control with prophet and garruk, and he just hated my control deck, would complain its unfun, no interaction. It's like well I'm not paying to play a deck everyone will dominate, I want to win, and your deck has a decent chance against mine I just outplayed you.
Think the one game I pithing needled his garruk and he ended up drawing 2 more that game.
I've played control a long time, I get ragequitters all the time, my favorite being "I can't wait for Wizards to stop pandering to you babies" I fully admit when I get mana screweed, I often complain but I do try to make sure I note that it's not their fault, just frustrated with the game. Poor sports are everywhere though, much like the one guy alluded to, every LGS has an angry Magic player. I had one guy scoop, concede the game, and leave the store after I played a Planeswalker, of course he graced us with the very loud lecture on how Planewalkers ruined Magic and how he'd never play again and how I was a cheater because I had them. Good times were had by all.

I used to have the same kind of attitude when the going looks absolutely hopeless, but since then, I've learned that I become a better player the more I psychologically attempt to endure through these types of situations. If there's one card in my deck that is an answer to an impending threat, I maintain my composure as I wait. And if I'm at the point when I know that there isn't a single card in my deck that would save me, I still make an attempt to carry on taking advantage of any play mistake my opponent may do. Of course, I'd just scoop if we're pressed on time tough.
I had a few rage quitters before the last standard rotation because... shock horror I played a combo deck in standard. Young pryomancer + beck + battle hymn... draw my whole deck to find burn at the stake. I had so many people go "your deck is stupid" and rage quit. that was so funny. I may have spent a minute playing solitare to actually find my win con.
I have a problem trying to play magic against my beat friend, I am just more experienced at the game and deck building in general. I play my standard deck... grixis control. my best friend plays 80 card mono coloured casual beast deck (legacy). He insists on playing with 80 cards. He just gets annoied when I counter and kill everything he plays. err but that is what my deck does. I swear if he actually played 60 cards he could beat me, he has cards with hexproof and regenerate and enchantments I can't deal with. But he plays 80 cards and has no idea how to play around my cards. "no not that deck".. err all my other decks I have on me are EDH decks. not quite a rage quit but its right on the edge.
I would feel like rage quitting to mass LD.. but I haven't the few times it has happend.. one of those times I even won.

There's a vast difference between knowing you've an out in your deck, and there not being one and the game is over. Yes, you could stick it out for X more turns, knowing 100% that there isn't a card in your deck that can help you out of a bad spot.
Why would you though? Scoop. It's done. Learn from the mistake, and move on.

Okay, my bad. I don't know how I missed it the first time, but I just realized that I missed you mentioning BBoV hitting the table. Yeah, I'm pretty much with you scooping there.
Last year a buddy of mine played an acidic slime/deadeye navigator/clone/sylvan primordial/progenitor mimic/bramble crush deck just so he could get rage quits after they were locked out of the game in standard. The deck really worked, too! God, it was hilarious.
Well Im playing UW Control and Mono-Black right now.
You can bet that I get a lot of complainers and quitters when playing against someone running a random brew in the Tournament Practice room on Magic Online. Something about discard and counterspells making people mad...
