Basicly maro gave muraganda a when on going instead of if for the first time. And remember the same thing happened with kamigawa (he gave a “when” instead of “if”)
They finally cut vanilla matters and just go straight up prehistoric set (aka dinosaur/exstinct creatures based set)
if We go what do you hope to see? (Besides dinosaur tribal that’s inevitable in the set if we go.)
Ixalan and Ikoria are dinosaur planes, throw another on the pile. What's the context of going to Muraganda? What's happening there that can't happen on the other two planes? We don't know much about Muraganda. It has dinosaurs and petroglyphs. *shrug*
Ixalan was more of an Aztec/Conquistador plane with Dinosaurs. Ikoria was about mutation, and was awful. I suspect Muraganda will be closer to Stone Age humans and paleontology/ancient Earth. It has potential but I don’t feel like it’s really for me. Not as if they’ll ever focus on any plane’s oceans. So why bother. More boring terrestrial creatures that we’ll see everywhere I’m sure.
if this is true, i'd expect green and red to be very strong feeling, whereas white and blue would be faint on this plane. the only average color would be black, used by the traditional shamans of the plane, while not being a very dark place overall.
I heard a rumor that they actually were thinking about doing an Ocean plane .
The main theme to Muraganda is going to be Sympathetic Magic .
Sympathetic Magic is the phrase used to describe what paleolithic humans used to do , where they started noticing that if they spat charcoal and fat into their hands and used it to draw up battle plans they stood a better chance of winning than if they didn·t .
IRL , the obvious excuse is that , well , yeah , if Caveman A knows when to zig and Cavewoman B knows when to zag , there·s more of a chance of flanking prey and gaining advantage .
To the cavepeople though , paleontologists theorize , what they were doing was first capturing a piece of the prey·s essence , a piece of its SOUL . Then , once you had that bit of essence , you had power .
The obvious parallel here is in Wizards·s use of card art , a highly modern and refined version of cave painting , and how they use the art on cards in order to bind real-world forces , resulting in what is technically and essentially real magic affecting the real world .
What a time to be alive .
I predict that , if Wizards does go somewhere blasted to the stone age , it will be petraglyphs of startlingly accurate binding spells , affecting real-world corporations , disguised as cave spit . Don·t be surprised if we see some kind of glyph that looks juuust enough like the Pepsi circle or the Nike whoosh .

I want to remind the most important part about plane is that it’s crawling with dinosaurs

The image that comes to mind is from Chrono Trigger in 65,000,000 BC. Very primitive, no structured civilization like "present day," no technology, and raw, unrefined magic.
Hmm, they might find that to be a way to have a Chrono Trigger Secret Lair product. I'd be down with it if we got Marle, Schala, and Lucca among others as cards.

I would expect a decent token sub-theme in at least one draft archetype. Just as having fractals without abilities allowed wizards to shove Ruxa into the Quandrix commander deck, having an archtype that creates vanilla tokens would allow for one or two archeytpe cards that pay surface-level respect to the previous expectation of "vanilla matters" (either in the set or in a commander deck)
Not all aliens are eldrazi , and not all eldrazi are aliens .
I could see them going with a Dinosaurs-and-Aliens federation .
what typing would be aliens then I’m sure maro is only gonna let alien in unfinity exclusive
the Only other typing could see play a role for aliens is phyrexians and the plot there could be they are practicing taking over planes starting with muraganda
The plane needs to fit somehow in the ongoing story and to be part of an interest point for a planeswalker. I could see Vivien, Garruk or Huatli be the planeswalker in question. How the planes could be relevant storywise I don't know. Maybe they need to come up with something (some kind of artifact, power what ever). Storywise I can't see the importance of the plane yet but if it is at the start of a new story block (when the phyrexian story is done) than the whole point isn't that important. I think they work 2 years or so ahead, so maybe.
Hco Marit Lage t t Our sources are returning a compiled timeline that goes something like ,
|aliens (elves etc) find a puzzle that turns into a map ,
|they land on a dinosaur world and begin digging for minerals ,
|while digging , they come across a necklace made of strange beads , the second bell off a Mongolian yaksman·s incense charm , and a strange stone ,
|the stone gives them insight into an even more ancient species , which in turn gets them digging up whole chunks of the crust , taking core samples ,
|the aliens (elves etc) find out about the planet·s deep past and the power of the Petraglyph sites , many of them made for species not found anywhere on the planet·s surface ,
Gravity Falls was five or ten years ago and all of the little Disney kids will be all hopped up on @Bash and Caesar Ciphers .
Yeah but knowing the team at Wizards they would try to throw in time travel along with them .
You could probs make a cute joke about Kino and cavewamen .
They could make Muraganda a pre-historic + Alien Invasion themed plane. Dinosaurs and Cavemen vs literal Aliens.
you Basicly just claimed the eldrazi will show up since that’s the other factor of what eldrazi are based off of. (Cthulhu is the other factor)
If they're going by aliens then the only species that resembles an "alien" would be Phyrexians. At least if you go by the Alien descriptive (compare Alien to Phyrexian Negator).
It would fit in with the Phyrexian arc they have going on now. Eldrazi I think are off their popularity platform for a while.

Well , let·s not say the Mirrans are Phyrexians , they·re Mirrans with Phyresis .
As far as aliens go , you·d probably see some combination of the Greys (Elves) , Yautja (Predators) , Xenomorphs (Dinosaurs) , Phyrexians (Borg) , Eldrich (Eldrazi) , Cephalids (Cephalids) , the Lammasu , the Nommo , and the Andelites . For a start .

to go by that what would the phyrexians want on muraganda aka the real dinosaur plane. (Ixalan was more Aztec plane than Jurassic park)

What if the source/origin of Phyrexian oil comes from Muraganda? I don't know the full Phyrexian lore but that would be a GREAT way to really dig into this species and how they came to be.
Could be waaaaaaaaaaayyyyy off in assuming this and I can hear the Vorthos' picking up their torches and pitch forks...but hey I like to speculate.

Glistening Oil was made in a lab , in a series of routine experiments on the plane of Se , long before the Thran found a plane already complete unto all its parts .
