I would love a Valhalla Theme in White or Orzhov. Little creature (warriors) that triggers some kind of effect when they die. And higher cost Valkyries that buff and return the fallen warriors. Adarkar Valkyrie comes in mind. The god associated with this could be Freya or Bragi. Balder fits for white, too.
Hel could be the Goddess for Black (Some zombies and horros, the wolf Fenrir comes to mind). Freyr for Green (some kind of land theme). Blue could be Frigg which was the goddess of the sky and has some powers of foreknowledge (scry focus). I don't know who would fit red but I am sure there has to be some kind of god who is associated with anger or forge work which would open the way to a equipment theme.
I can see the trap cards return in the color Black, Blue and maybe red or in the color you like to put Loki in.
Tyr could provide some kind of battle mechanic. Maybe some returning stuff like battle cry etc. I think he should be in White, Red and maybe green?
Odin fits in so many colors. It depends how they want to show him. He seems at least to be blue for his wisdom and seek for knowledge and black for his sinister ways. They can add white to him because he is associated with healing. Red because of frenzy.
Well leaves Thor God of thunder. Because he is considered to be the strongest of all beings he should have green. Thunder and lightning are in red. And he seems responsible for rain which could add blue?
They will more likely mix some domains of the deities like they have done it in Amonketh or Theros, though.
I would play a Temur Thor deck so fast. SOOOO fast.
Hopefully the Gods have the new God-Eternal ability... I love that effect more that indestructible. It feels a little more fair and also emulates how they can't just be exiled.

Don't know about that. The only way you can get rid of them now is by hand manipulation, by countering them or taking control of them, which leaves only 2 colours capable of dealing with them reliably (blue and black).
All other colours just delay them, with red and green having the short end of the stick because they remove through damage.
That doesn't really sound like a good mechanic.
EDIT: may be a little more fair than the Hour of Destruction Gods mechanic, but that's about it.

I mean if you can't kill them in the 3 turns they are gone for... then you're not trying hard enough. Besides, what's the point of having a God if they just die to removal like normal creatures? They should be sticky...
Which is why I like the new God ability. You can kill them, but they come back eventually. At least they're not like Hexproof-Indestructible so you can't interact with them. The new God templating allows for interaction.
With the current card-draw, card filtering, scry, explore and surveil they seldom take 3 turns to come back. Even red can pull it off. Well timed light up the stage and your god card can be cast the turn right after being killed.
Which all in all makes your "not trying hard enough" remark pretty pointless.

My point is that they are at least something you can interact with as opposed to just a battlefield clogging indestructible/hexproof card. At least removal can be used on them, even if it is albeit a temporary delay.
If it's a Norse-inspired setting, the Gods need not any form of immortality whatsoever, for the Gods in Norse mythology could be killed. But they are going to need something spicy, so how about introducing God's favor as a gameplay element? Meet the proper conditions and you have a particular God's favor. And as long as you have that God's favor, you get some kind of perk. In addition, spells can check if you control a God's favor. Maybe the 2-damage burn spell turns into a 4-damage burn for the same price if you have the red God's favor?

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Note that all gods can be killed in MTG. Amonkhets Gods got wrecked (all but one) and we saw in Theros that they can be killed, too. (In a specific way but well.) I think that gods should be hard to remove permanently. I don't care if they give them indestructible or make them return in some way.
The alternative is interesting, though. They being normal killable creatures that grant you a bonus like a specific blessings (similar to City's Blessing in Ixalan) that your opponent can't interact with? If the blessing grands some kind of bonus, than they should be carefully what kind of bonus. It would be a little disappointing if the blessing is the same as the ascend mechanic in Ixalan and is only interacting with some cards in the set.
The white one could have for example: When ~ enters the battlefield, if your Devotion for white is X or higher you gain the "~ Blessing" for the rest of the game. While you control the "~ Blessing", creatures entering the battlefield from your graveyard, enters the battlefield with Y +1/+1 counter. (no number is set, is just an example).
Mark will be making the fall set announcement at his SDCC panel. It’s incredibly irritating that they are not streaming it on Twitch, nor recording it. Like, come the f*** on WotC, get your crap together.
Their reasoning for not streaming it is a load of bullcrap. If everyone else are allowed to stream from SDCC, then there is no logical reason WotC can't other than they don't want to. And if they don't want to, they should tell us to our faces instead of saying "sorry, were not allowed to stream from SDCC", particularly when it is very obviously a lie.

God's favor or blessing would be meant to play the role of Devotion. I am intrigued by the idea of divine blessings working like city's blessing. Reminds me of the Blessings from Skyrim.
For example, the white God could say "When you attack with three or more creatures, you gain ~'s favor" and "As long as you have ~'s favor, attacking creatures you control get +2/+2 and have indestructible".

From a design perspective, it is cool. But the Gods themselves must be strong and powerful on the battlefield otherwise they're kind of a "One and Done" effect, where you don't actually need the God to stick around. From a Commander perspective, it looks like something you would only want to cast once from your Command zone just to get the blessing, then you don't care about it for the rest of the game.
I could see the Gods being strong in their own right. Maybe the white God has a Master Warcraft-like effect a la Odric, Master Tactician? Or we get an extra combat phase, which is exceptionally rare among white cards yet fitting for a deity inspired by Tyr.
Since a Norse world is going to emphasize aggro because of Vikings, maybe each of the five major Gods cares about attacking with creatures? Say, three or more creatures? Prove your worth in battle and be rewarded.

I personally think a god's stats and abilities should be only as powerful as the devotion of their followers. Because, in "real life," a god is only as potent as the number of people who believe in them.
So maybe a tie-in to devotion or # of creatures of a specific type and/or something else maybe? That'd be cool if we do go that route in the next (few) set(s).

Having some creature type matters of tribal element also fits with one of the themes of modern horizons. I guess something like Cost reduction, +p/+t, and extra abilities based on the quantity of creatures types would be a start (with a limit)
A god that gains +p/+t for each creature type among creatures you control but with a cap (of say +7+7) could fit I guess.

See that makes sense and would be a cool way to go into the god development string even further. Like a goblin god will be as powerful as the goblins that worship it. Ok, maybe the odd human or non-goblin might but that's another story.

Eh, it differs from plane to plane, and from god to god. In Theros the gods are empowered by their worshipers (thus being enchantment creatures and use devotion), but in Amonkhet they are expressions of the leylines of the plane (as shown by Nissa's vision, and no devotion). Illhag appears to be some sort of elemental creature and an expression of Ravnica itself.
It's even more obvious in non-mtg fantasy games. In some realms the gods require worship to retain power, while in others, such as the Forgotten Realms, the gods will have power regardless of whether they are worshiped or not.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
It's a knight and king based set. Go look at the uncommons in core set 2020 Skyknight Vanguard. There are a ton of preview cards.
What does that card have to do with Eldraine? It's quite clearly a Ravnican of the Boros guild, evidenced by the fist symbols plastered all over the thing.
