Since the announcement of Modern Horizons, I can't stop wondering what Vintage/Legacy/Commander/Conspiracy/Battlebond goodies they'll reprint for the modern format.
I thought I'd start this thread so we can share our collective mind and discuss potential reprints (and maybe their effect on the format)
i think they will avoid printing any cards which are heavily played in legacy. if legacy staples become legal in modern then suddenly modern starts to look more and more like legacy.
maro hinted at a reprint of concordant crossroads in a supplemental set and i don't think it would have much of an effect on modern considering mass hysteria is the same thing.
I hope they do reprint Oubliette in this. It won't make the slightest impact in Modern, but it's decent in draft and could still be a couple dollar uncommon for a bit. I am a fan of decent commons and uncommons put in there for no other reason than a silver lining to an awful pack

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
the one-mana cycling lands would be nice - a shot in the arm for Loam decks.
I dunno really. I want a new colourless or green toy for Tron or combo/toolbox-y toolbox decks (like Vannifar, devoted druid, or Kiki). Those sorts of decks are always on the fringe of playability and could do with just one more really decent toolbox-y creature to tie it all together. Mother of Runes? She's a Human so that seems far too good.
hmm... tough call really. If i sat down with a list of all the sets I think I could predict what sorts of things they'd consider reprinting, and get it more or less right. But the list of potentials would probably be double the actual number of cards in the set.

Modern: G Tron, Vannifar, Jund, Druid/Vizier combo, Humans, Eldrazi Stompy (Serum Powder), Amulet, Grishoalbrand, Breach Titan, Turns, Eternal Command, As Foretold Living End, Elves, Cheerios, RUG Scapeshift

Sorry gilded drake is on the list of banned from being reprinted (reserve list)
Of course, they wouldn't be able to print all those mythics in one set unless a good number were downshifted to rare. But man, imagine getting to add any of them to Modern!
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
If ever a time, printing Surgical Extraction would make a lot of sense, given the continual increase in its price. Although the hardest part is finding an archetype that would work for draft purposes, unless they print Phyrexian Mana cards like Birthing Pod, Mutagenic Growth, Gut Shot and the like. Possibly proliferate staples too.

Bloom Tender, Oracle, Extraction, Pod, Mutagenic, and Gut Shot are all post 8th edition, and thus will not be reprinted in Modern Horizons.
That said, I could see Enlightened Tutor getting a reprint if we are getting Argothian Enchantress as well to make Enchantress a more viable deck in modern.
As for cards from commander/conspiracy/planechase. I think most of those reprints will be of the common/uncommon stuff that doesn't refer to the command zone directly. I could see the "EXP counter" legends make an appearance, but I am not betting on it. There are only so much space in the set, and they'll likely reserve the mythic slots for new cards and high power reprints.
Whenever they talk about Modern Horizons, they say that all the cards will be new to Modern, EXCEPT BASIC LANDS. Let's be honest, no one would bat an eye if the Plains was reprinted and it didn't fit this description. Also, this set isn't supposed to be set on a plane, so a theme for basics would be tricky. So maybe they mean Wastes or Snow-covered are here? It would be additionally interesting, as both colorless and snow have some support in Modern, but not really a good deck in a moment, even though they were powerful in the past.
I can see a lot of Cycling and Morph reprints coming.

Something I would like to see is that they printed the Tempest painlands at uncommon (where they belong), it's unlikely to happen, but I still want it to. They need to be reprinted sooner or later, and they'd hardly warp Modern. I think it more likely we'll get the Mirage Fetches though, and I really want them reprinted as well. Ideally, they'd reprint both.
I could see Wasteland getting reprinted, mostly to put a damper on Tron style decks, but I think Dust Bowl is more likely.
I fully expect a few Portal reprints as well, probably a few of the commons will be from one of the three portal sets, none of them would warp modern because let's face it, most of them are weak, but they'd fill out the commons and give us a few nifty reprints. There are a few cards from the three portal sets that have a pretty nice power level for their cost though, particularly among the creatures. Devoted Hero is one, and one I could see happening. It'd give Abzan Elves another one drop, and work fine in White Weenie style decks.
I could also see Threshold make an appearance. Werebear is about on par with Modern's power level.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
Umm...doesn't Ghostly Prison serve the exact same purpose? In the proper color, no less? Blue shouldn't be getting cards like Arcane Laboratory and Propaganda that belong in white. Now, an enchantment that lets you draw cards or somesuch whenever a creature attacks you or whenever an opponent casts a spell, that feels blue. Something like Rhystic Study but for attacking creatures. Or, it can be a sort of soft Stasis where attacking creatures get tapped down unless their controller pays 2. See, that's one of the benefits of new cards: We can colorshift old color pie-breaking cards to proper colors, and we can add effects that make sense in their colors.
Counterspell is likely to be printed in MH1 as it's a major card not yet printed in Modern. I don't like the idea of it supplanting cards like Stoic Rebuttal and Wizard's Retort, but on the upside those cards are effectively Counterspells 5-8 in decks built around them. Shoot, you could build a monoblue Wizards and artifacts deck that runs all of the above, giving you effectively twelve Counterspells to work with.

Any wagers this is it?
I'll edit this post with any other predictions I make.
baleful stryx is very good and also potentially playable in some current decks without much change.
gilded drake is fairly harmless
goblin lackey?
and if they reprint Morphling i'll laugh.

Bloom Tender needs a reprint; ditto Oracle of Mul Daya; Enlightened Tutor could be nice.

Loreseeker's Stone
Baleful Strix (back at uncommon)
Dreampod Druid
Brindle Stoat
As for the other old cards, I could see the following make a return:

concordant crossroads, shardless agent, cabal coffers, mirri's guile, selvala, heart of the wilds, stranglehold, thought vessel
Mirri's Guile is unlikely, it's not an ability green is supposed to have.
Concordant Crossroads is also unlikely due to it being a World Enchantment.
Not impossible, just unlikely. And I would honestly love to see both.

Siege Gang is already modern legal, it got reprinted in Dominaria, it was also in 10th edition and M10.
