What about Alara? We don't know what's happening there since the whole time-travel thing during Tarkir and the plane is separated in five different shards, there's lots of mana ready to be devoured for momma Emrakul.
I seem to recall a certain dragon absorbing a lot of that energy when the shards merged...

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
Next, I decided to research the region Selhoff. Is it U/B affiliated in anyway like I would likely expect. Anything in the style guide? Nope..hmmm...
Then, I notice this card, printed back in Innistrad. I'm familiar with Skirsdag cultists. Who the hell are the Selhoff? Looks like limited fodder to me. Oh look, it has flavor text..what does that say? Eep!!

What do we make of this?
That the Selhoff are one huge tribute to the works of H.P. Lovecraft? Doesn't mean that Emmy is on the plane.
Remember, they have been around for far longer than the Eldrazi have been free as they where already well established in the original block.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Meaning Emrakul is the one casting the shadow over innistrad. Unless the forces in zendikar fail and get defeated and both the eldrazi bolt for innistrad
The names of the 2 sets in the block - Shadows over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon STRONGLY imply a Lovecraftian theme.
One of HP Lovecraft's most famous stories is "Shadows over Innsmouth", and of course - Lovecraftian horror is often referred to ELDRITCH horror.
I do agree that "finding" Emrakul this fast after Zendikar seems wrong from a timing point of view, but they messed up the timing on C as well (slightly) - and he is the most Cthuloid of the Eldrazi.
But of course they could just invent another one (or small family) of Eldritch uber-powerful horrors.

Thing is, the Eldrazi are about as Lovecraftian as your average candy bar, i.e. not at all. The Eldrazi are forces of nature, the only thing they have in common with the Great Old Ones and the Elder Gods is that mortals have no chance of stopping them (good thing we have planeswalkers then). So far, magic has only had two actual beings that could measure up to the GOO's and Elder Gods: Marit Lage and Cloud Form Yawgmoth, the former was never defeated (permanently, she was trapped in ice for a while) and the latter was defeated by a literal intervention from the author of the final book of the Weatherlight Saga (which in itself is an abstract entity in M:TG). The Eldrazi have more in common with earthquakes, tsunamis, and hurricanes, than they do with anything lovecraftian.
Innistrad (the block and the plane) on the other hand is steeped in lovecraftian horror, as the main race of the plane (humans) only exist as cattle for the vampires of the plane and any number of things on the plane can kill them dead, and most of those things actively try to. Humans on Innistrad are FUBAR'ed and they don't even know it, dwelling in their ignorance believing that they are protected by the angels when the angels actual purpose is to act as Shepherds to prevent the vampires (and other horrors) to wipe out their food source.
As for Deep Ones, the only thing they have in common with merfolk is that they are both aquatic humanoids. They are no more merfolk than Cephalids are.

Lore comparisons with Merfolk aside, I'd absolutely love if Wizards gave us Deep Ones in Eldritch Moon or even just brought back the NightmareHorrortheme that befits so well Innistrad.

Aren't Deep Ones just Evil Merfolk?
