I'm starting to wonder if the hypothetical Dragon's Maze message is something like, "UNLESS NIV-MIZZET DOES SOMETHING ABOUT IT". Dragon's Maze's slogan is "Ten Guilds, One Destination", so presumably, the guilds survive until (and likely into) that set.
Then again, where would the message show up?
On the Dragon's Maze guildgates, of course.
Dragon's Maze Booster Packs All Contain Nonbasic Lands
That's better! The fifteenth card in all Dragon's Maze packs isn't basic land; it's nonbasic land. All ten guildgates will be showing up (with the Dragon's Maze expansion symbol), as will all ten shocklands from Return to Ravnica and Gatecrash (with their Return to Ravnica or Gatecrash symbols). You are about half as likely to open a shockland in Dragon's Maze as in Return to Ravnica and Gatecrash and, since this is for all ten shocklands rather than five, that means you are about a quarter as likely to open a specific one. There's also a mythic rare land from Dragon's Maze that will show up there sometimes!
This explains why the guildgates will have Dragon's Maze symbols but the shocklands won't. They need to have the Dragon's Maze symbol so we can read the new message. I hope it's the same flavor text; that would raise the cool factor by a factor of ten if they can get two messages in the same flavor text...

Rabbitball,
"Those who will not follow are doomed to lead."
Look, Lazav is scary, but they've already set up his powerlevel. Yes, trickery, blah blah blah, but they've set up how much influence he's got out of clear-cut narrative and storytelling reasons.
We already know that he's not quite sure what Niv is up to and plans on making it as hard as possible while he tries to figure it out.
He's a shapeshifter, but he's not a walker and he's not a god. You'd need to Karona together him and Jace for that or something.
He's good enough to figure out there's an endgame going on via a puzzle that Niv is working on, Just like Gruul and Simic know there's an engame for control of the streets and Boros knows there's an endgame in terms of holding things together. There's a big intriguing endgame along with a bunch of more basic "every crumbling, too big not to collapse upon itself empire/culture hits this point" endgames going on. Making Lazav more than what they've set him up to be would be anticlimactic and rather depressing.
Granted, they're not so tight with the Deus Ex Machina from time to time, but think of what they wanted to do with Mirrodin: start out in a new Phyrexia and backtrack. That's the sort of game they like to play.
So, Lazav is very clever and sneaky, but he's a player in the game with some advantages desperately trying to get a bid in on the final pot.
Those are from the facebook art challenge for RTR. They are close to six months old.
Did they really comission art work for a facebook challenge and not use it in a set? If you think about how they want the DGM prerelease done now - you pick a guild - and it comes with another guild that shares a color with it, but not from the same set, so for instance izzet would get dimir, simic, boros, or gruul. And since there won't be any basic land in this set that is ruled out too. 3 color uncommon gates? I loved those 3 color Shards lands. I can only hope.
I'm gonna throw out my random thing that just came into mind. Lazav is a shapeshifter, couldn't he secretly be controlling guilds and the members of the guilds never knew? Idek.
I would love to find out that Lazav is actually secretly controlling the other guilds, even though i'm kinda Orzhov at heart.
The dramatic reveal at the end of DMG is that everyone on Ravnica is Lazav. Even Niv'Mizzet.

Cyme we inne frið, fram the grip of deaþ to lif inne ðis smylte land.
I'm pretty sure they're just mock-ups with the same flavor-texts because the gruul guildgate uses the exact smae art (not zoomed out) and they also have the campions, only text- and typeless.
EDIT: Dimir uses the same art as well. And they both have the GTC Symbol.
Unless I'm missing something, those are the same flavor texts as the original Gates, and a quick glance at Orzhov seems to show the same raised letters. Clarification, anyone?

So has anyone seen these? Are these potentially 3 color lands now?

They don't look like 3 colour lands at all. The dimir one could maybe be Dimir + Green...
Don't want to be "that guy", but it looks like basic land art to me.

As of 4/18/2013, there are 8 of the DGM guildgates present on Wizards' Card Image Gallery http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/article.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/dragonsmaze/cig# and each of them have expanded artwork and new flavor text with raised letters.
