Oblivion Ring, Mulldrifter, Rampant Growth, Search for Tomorrow, Rift Bolt, Sleight of Hand, Molten Rain, Momentary Blink, Relic of Progenitus, Rune Snag/Mana Leak, Tribal Flames, Lightning Bolt, Doom Blade, Spellstutter Sprite, Terminate, Blightning, Cranial Plating, Frogmite, Springleaf drum, Thoughtcast should all be there somewhere
O-Ring, R. Growth, Mana Leak, Bolt, and Doom Blade are all eliminated because they saw print after Alara Reborn. Others seem likely.
EDIT: I'm assuming this is what they meant by only printing cards from Mirroden-ARB, but I guess they were also all printed during that time frame, so it's possible.
yPretty sure the guy who thinks Thoughtsieze could be a common is trolling. I could see it reprinted and staying rare, because it doesn't do something that deserves it being a mythic. Remember, there is only 14 cards left for the Mythic slot, and while I could see a case for Bob or Vendilion Clique, Thoughtsieze seems unlikely. I could see a reprint of the good Elspeth, though probably not any other planeswalker from that era. The only other good one was Ajani Vengeant, and he isn't good enough for Modern unfortunately.
I saw it posted elsewhere on here, but I don't think Thoughtseize makes it in this set. It is easily reprintable in Standard, so it is more likely to see a reprint there as opposed to Modern Masters.
I don't think that anything will be shifted down in rarity. WOTC somewhat supports pauper by making it a format on MTGO. Reprint uncommons and fares at common would blow up pauper. Which is something that I'm sure someone thought about.
No it itsn't.Shock is.Bolt wasn't reprinted at all from 8th edition to Alara Reborn.Bolt was reprinted in M10 which was after A.Reborn meaning it can't be in the set.
Shock is highly unlikely because a) it sucks and b) it doesn't enrich the limited. The burn spells are much more likely things like Magma Jet, Rift Bolt, Shard Volley and Grapeshot.
The announcement only says that they are all modern legal, and all reprinted. Lightning bolt is legal in modern, (source: Gatherer) so why can't it be printed in this?
This set can be drafted. It doesn't mean it is being MADE to be drafted. Just Saying.
With the reason of 24 packs per booster box being that's the perfect number for draft and a limited GP in MM it most certainly is designed to be drafted.
"I have no idea what it's like not to be a straight white male, and the experiences of others are irrelevant." -Conservative Motto
Calling someone a Commie is flaming and must be stopped, but turning the word Conservative into a loaded pejorative and using it over and over again is perfectly acceptable.

Well its mainly meant to bring people into modern, but the faction that every card is good and playable is what makes it draftable.

I'm sure he knew that. I think his point was that cards that have seen print since alara are probably unlikely to be printed in MM.

You could have read the EDIT right underneath the piece that you quoted to see my thoughts on this. Might be tough though since it was an entire extra line of reading, and I know how time consuming that can be.
I hope they'll put Lightning Bolt in this. I will de a fun set to draft
Again for the cheap seats, lightning bolt is NOT in a set inbetween Eighth Edition and Alara Reborn, therefore it can't berinted in this set. Lava Spike is a given though.

Depends on the cards reprinted.
Something like Magma Jet (an efficient card with a low impact on game state) will not warp Pauper even if it becomes a staple.
Something with a much bigger impact on game state, however, like Pyroclasm, might do so.
As a common burn spell my vote is for magma spray. Or Tarfire, for synergy with Tarmogoyf. One of this two.
BUT. Some burn spell could be originally uncommons reprinted as common, like magma jet or sudden shock.

Thoughtseize is likely to be an uncommon or rare because that is the precedent based on IoK and previous Thoughtseize
I have a feeling that normal rules for mythic cards are out the window here. If a card is mythic or not will depend more on current secondary market price than card flavor or abilities. Under this theory, Thoughtseize (if printed in MM) would be a mythic.

They already said that some cards would be downgraded. They also said it won't be redeemable on MTGO (btw, another argument to it being made for draftinh), so I don't think it should affect pauper there.

Thoughtseize seems fine as a chase rare of the set. Tarmogoyf at rare wouldn't actually make sense. As Forsythe mentioned, Tarmogoyf is the card in modern with by far the most anticipation for its reprint. The status of Tarmogoyf as an image of Modern is why it deserves to be Mythic. There are obviously going to be other cards jumped to Mythic but that doesn't mean that costing $30 will make it a Mythic.
Kind of random,
but I personally hope some priority is given to commons and uncommons with unusually inflated foil prices...

On Thoughtseize - the shocklands were all just reprinted at R2 despite having been highly prized R1s in their first printing.
On MTGO at least, Steam Vents dropped from 25 tix to under 3 as a result, so I doubt they'd worry too much about Thoughtseize falling from its present 15 tix there.
Paper Thoughtseize is around $35 at the moment - not much different to what Pithing Needle was when it was first downgraded from 'old rare/R1 rarity' to 'new rare/R2'.

You realize that there is no such thing as R1 and R2 anymore right? They haven't had different levels of rarity within a single rarity since like Alliances.

They pretty much stated that you could play dredge vs storm in a draft environment.
They said no standard legal cards.
Um, where? I think you are misinterpreting what "not Standard legal" means.
Agreed. However don't hold your breath for Lightning Bolt. M10 came out AFTER Alara Reborn.
On Modern Masters 2:
Will be kept until 12/31/2013 to prove if Right or Wrong.Proven right 1/27/2013Shock is highly unlikely because a) it sucks and b) it doesn't enrich the limited. The burn spells are much more likely things like Magma Jet, Rift Bolt, Shard Volley and Grapeshot.
