8 mana creatures and 8 mana sorceries are a bit different. If I could cheat in Primal Surge for R or 2U, I would be all over it!
True. I thought when they said "Yet-To-Be-Spoiled-Bananas-Expensive-Spell" they were saying any spell. But to be honest you are probably right, they were probably gearing towards "noncreature spell".
That's plain stupid, no real deck threatens to hardcast it all cheat them into play and by those standards there were 15 mana eldrazi creatures being played in ZEN standard but that was thanks to cheat into play effects and lands that could produce more than 1 mana at a time.
In any case if you wanted to point out to ridiculously high cmc cards that were hardcasted without cheating you should have said Iona, Shield of Emeria in Chapin's Jace deck before ROE release which only used 4 mana rocks and actually dragged the game long enough to a point in which it had access to most of it's deck and just slammed it for the win.
Am I the only one to notice he also said "break out the dice"? Leads me to believe expensive card uses tokens or counters of somewhat. Because Liliana only needs 1-2 dice.
A permanent shade? None of this "B: [cardname] gets +1/+1 ueot." more like B: put a +1/+1 counter on [cn]."
I think "break out the dice" was in reference to keeping track of mana. High Tide has to use dice/paper to keep track of it's mana when comboing and Liliana's Emblem would cause similar events as tapping a land no longer produces only 1 mana.
Are we sure this article wasn't about the Red "set everything to 1, have fun! totally banned in EDH" mythic?

Asking people to remove quotes in their signatures is tyranny! If I can't say something just because someone's feelings are hurt then no one would ever be able to say anything! Political correctness is stupid.
Are we sure this article wasn't about the Red "set everything to 1, have fun! totally banned in EDH" mythic?
Nope, it's about some new black spell. I suppose something among the lines of either Army of the Damned or Living Death.
And Worldfire won't necessarily be banned in EDH. Sheldon himself said so.

Also, the breakdown on her is rediculous. The opening part compares her to JTMS and TezzAoB. Seriously?
IM not so sure you read that correctly. He said the last cards with a +1 Ability that netted you a card was Tezz and Jace. That doesn't mean he is saying "OMG LILIANA IS JUST AS GOOD AS THE MOST BROKEN PLANESWALKER EVER"
Target opponent discards their hand, mills their whole library, sacrifices all of their permanents, and loses all of their life.

What? I said it was a wild guess!

yeah i mean after mentioning jace he quickly said
"Now, I'm not saying Land Granting for a Swamp is Jace-level, because it's obviously not. What I will say is that if you are sitting there drawing an extra card every turn while fueling your big spells, it's going to be pretty hard to lose the game."
Oh, and savvy readers will note that she doesn't just get basic Swamps.
I like that sentence
I really hope for shocks or another sort of multi-basic lands in RtR

well I know Death Cloud is one popular theory and the art looks like a boku tutor of some kind, but if Zach's words are to be taken at face value, he said, "expensive" spell, so I doubt it has X in the cost since X can be 1 or 2 and it wouldnt be expensive at all.
its not a creature, there's no way anything could overshadow Griselbrand at 7+ cmc, so it has to be a spell. Sorin's Vengeance isnt all that powerful, it doesnt work in an aggressive deck obviously and it doesnt do anything in a control deck since you have to cast it twice
for this thing to actually be, "TOTALLY BANANAS" it had better either hand my opponent his face or advance my board position beyond reason, or forget it
what i think it might possibly be, which would be unprecedented in black is a tutor that searches for a Demon and puts it into play, then you pay like 5 life or something, hence the art where the guy's nose is bleeding.
i dont know if thats too strong with griz or the price would be worth it since he's already 8 cmc, but its got to be something good or no one's playing it

I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.
its not Diabolic Revelation, there's a small mythic and a big mythic in each color spoiled so far *white and green", and red has the big one already.
the Nocturnus is black's small mythic, the big one is probably the expensive thing he was referring to. This tutor is crap and anyone with half a head can see that its purely casual or a "guess what i ripped!" combo enabler in limited

I'm playing an 8 mana creature and primal surge in a deck, so.
It is certainly doable. And not horrible.

Wasn't he the one who hinted about a ten-mana green spell (Primal Surge) in the article spoiling Druids' Repository?

No Day of Judgement so far and no real sweepers yet have been spoiled. The card might as well be Damnation. It fits all the prementioned criteria.
I doubt it though...
