The flavor text for M12's Taste of Blood quotes Bran Stoker's Dracula. Wasn't a WotC policy not to quote "real world" novels in their Magic cards? Or I just missed other recent cards like this one?
They've quoted real texts on cards in Core Sets before, though in recent years they have gotten away from it. I'm glad they're still doing it, though. I think it's a classy touch, personally.
I'm fairly sure that every core set has had some real-world flavor text. M11 had the already-mentioned Alice in Wonderland quote, as well as the Odyssey, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and I think one or two more.

That's the policy for expert sets which have unique settings and characters.
Core sets don't have such a strict policy because they don't have a setting. So there's no break in immersion.
The day they quote Rowling on a Magic card is the day Magic officially dies.
The day they quote Pratchet however will be the birth of a new Golden Age!
But the day they quote Rowling is the day you get to see
"NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU *****!" on a Magic card. It is sad that it loses some of its epicness when it loses its context.

I think I've learned to treat Magic cards like baseball cards: keep 'em in a binder in numerical order, don't play with 'em, try to finish the set and just keep my head down.
That's like saying Justin Beiber will be regarded on the same level as (Black) Michael Jackson in 30 years... A horrifying thought.
That's not even close. Harry Potter was actually a very well written series. Justin Bieber is just the flavor of the year, and he'll be replaced by a new flavor next year.
And Im not some Harry Potter superfan either, Im just not some disillusioned old man who has to put down anything that has happened in the last ten years.

This guy, would either eat up several turns worth of mana to get a slow permanent that relies on your already have some board presence (after wasting said mana), or dies without generating any advantage.
I think that policy does not apply to the Core Sets.

Disagree. Harry Potter will be Alice in Wonderland in fifty years.
LOOOOOOL No.
Would put something else so this doesn't get an infraction, but I'm too lazy right now. Anyway I sigged this. Found it too amazing to let it go.
