I don't see how baneslayer is such a problem?
There are so very many answers to baneslayer that I do not "fear" the fifth turn drop because I will always have a removal card in hand.
edit: I would like to see some nice creatures printed for all colors in the mid range.
Sable stag was cool, but something less niche would really benefit green. and so on for the other colors...
Honestly for a control deck, how can you not love the 5/5 flier with SHROUD. In control vs control matchups the blue guy will win. Sure baneslayer can kill him head to head, but baneslayer will get spotted while the sphynx will stick.
Baneslayer is only equal to goyf in price CURRENTLY because it's a mythic. If it were normal rarity it would be 20; and it is nowhere near as broken as tarmogoyf is. In legacy, baneslayer see's play ONLY in white stax and angel stompy which is played very little. Goyf is played in so many decks it isn't funny because he's that good.
I bet they will reprint baneslayer; it will drive the price down and I am HOPING it get's reprinted because I made a wager with a friend that it would get reprinted in M11. I also want it to get it into white stax and to replace exalted angel. Oh how power just keeps creeping....exalted angel is basically strictly worse than baneslayer in all comparison's.
And baneslayer is a very solvable creature. PtE it. Terminate it. Maelstrom Pulse. And baneslayer isn't the most heavily played card in standard; it can't be splashed for easily like goyf because it has double white whereas goyf simply had a single G in it's cmc. Jund colors are the most heavily played in standard right now and guess what that sure doesn't include baneslayer which is naya.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
there are plenty of awesome and/or overpowered cards in standard right now for their given costs to put out, BSA just happens to be the most overpowered one.
Baneslayer Angel - 5/5 for 3WW with flying, first strike, lifelink AND pro demons and dragons... it's overpowered for a 5/5 for 5 mana to have all that going for it. sure it dies to removal/counter/etc. but just as something with that much going for it is crazy. hence why it's like $50 ea.
Great Sable Stag - 3/3 with cannot be countered and pro blue and black? for 1GG? it's an amazing rare, which is why it's about $7-8 ea.
Malestrom Pulse - pretty busted for a 1GB as it can remove a permanant and all others with the same name. it kills planeswalkers, fleets of tokens, huge greatures, etc. add to this that it fits perfectly in the most played set in standard right now (Jund) and it's pretty wrong. last I checked the prices were $15+ ea.
Path to Exile - get rid of any creature I want for one W? oh, you can look for a land by the way... just hope that I'm not running blue otherwise you can bet I'll play an Archive Trap when you do.... it's an UNCOMMON going for $6 ea.
Woolly Thoctar - a 5/4 for RGW is amazing for 3 mana and is a staple for every Naya deck
Jace the Mind Sculptor - no one believed me when I said that he was broken... now he's worth more than double what his preorder price was and is sitting pretty at $55+. not only does he have 4 abilities, with one that costs 0, but he's constantly improving your draw AND his last -ability ENDS GAMES in 1v1.
Ajani Vengeant - unnn, he can lock down a permanant indefinately, lightning helix you AND blow up your lands... which is funny because the new manlands from Worldwake can and WILL die in a fire if you don't have a Terra Eternal out, because they remain lands, even though they're creatures.
personally though I would like to see BSA in M11, if not for the fact that prices for her might go down, then for the simple fact that I might pull her when I buy a box of M11 and can trade or sell it for alot
Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
I just want cards that mirror Baneslayer. 5 CMC, 10 combined P/T, and 5 abilities. Such as:
Angel's Bane
Creature - Demon 3BB
First Strike, Intimidate, Deathtouch, Protection from Angels and Spirits.
I'm not sure in the abilities, but there isn't much wiggle room for Black without giving it triggered abilities.
That's insane. It insta-kills everything that isn't first strike, and even then you need a 5/x first strike black/artifact creature to do so.
Baneslayer gets stopped by Walls of Denial (heck in Wall of Reverence) but this guy just laughs and goes right through. Even if it didn't have intimidate, it would be broken.

I'll hold myself to this. I'll get fancy dishes and everything.
Baneslayer shouldn't be in M11 in my opinion. Its a bit too restrictive on the 5 slot and makes it really hard for other interesting 5 drops to show up in competitive play. Its too much better than similarly priced creatures to be allowed to continue, its a big damper on what design can do with big creatures.
What Ive heard is that it will be reprinted as a rare.
Unlikely.
"Cards like Fireball and Pestilence used to be common cards. When a common card is that strong in Limited, we either change the card or change the rarity. Baneslayer Angel is extremely powerful in Limited, so it is our highest rarity, mythic rare."
- Erik Lauer, two days ago on daily mtg
Wizards has stated they don't like cards that everyone uses, though not necessarily completely overpowered (sensei's divining top), and so they probably won't reprint this. Probably.

Very true. Even though, Wizards are going to reprint BSA :-/. Just wait and see.
If they really wanted BSA to be balanced they should of had her cost at WWW2 or even WWWW1 so that not every deck with a splash of white can add her mindlessly.
As hard as it is to believe, you actually designed a card that's BETTER than BSA.
Yes and no, due to the current meta he's better because of the strength of removal... In a less removal heavy meta, or one with less potent removal, Baneslayer is better.
I'd still rather see Teferi come back rather than this guy.
i remember some black guy once called me called me cracker i didnt know what he was meaning. but them i found out that it is a Racially motivated term for white people, based on the fact that we're the same color as Saltines.
"Hey guys Baneslayer Angel is probably going to wreak havoc this upcoming Standard!"
"Ok, let's make a hoser for her!"
"Here we go! Halo Hunter! When he enters the battlefield, destroy target Angel! Problem solved!"
...yeah.
Does anyone on this forum actually think that the group of people who make the cards, maintain the rules, and attempt to keep their power level in check (including among them numerous former pro players) don't understand protection? Does anyone on this forum actually think they weren't aware that Halo Hunter couldn't destroy Baneslayer Angel when they printed it?
If anything, Halo Hunter was printed to make Baneslayer's protection more relevant.

I like your demon but it should have flying instead of intimidate and protection from Spiders instead of Spirits.

Some of them will sure be better then others, but at least all 5 colors would have their own ''Mythic iconic creature''
where? any conformation, or just a guess?

If your answer is "Yes," then please, please reconsider.

Man, I would play the poo out of this card. A flashing Jar Jar Sphinx, I couldn't resist, and protection, way too powerful.
And of course they should print green creature that can stop flying angels :). I mean, green should have the best big creatures. Something like
Mega spider 2GGG
creature - Giant Spider
Reach, Deathtouch
Mega spider has Shroud as long as it's untapped.
