Hi! I was thinking that it's kind of hard making a set without first turn drops, but if everything in the set it's multicolored how can we have first turn drops, so here is one idea, hope you have more:
Angry Nacatl (Common) RW
Creature- Cat
If you don't have creatures in play you may pay G instead of playing it's mana cost.
2/1
Anything like this would really cheapen the gimmick. I doubt we'll get any first turn plays. (but do we really need them? ALA and CON have a wealth of absolutely splendiferous one drops. Or just play a triland.)
There's enough good 1 drops and the format is slow. We don't need 1 drops for the set, because you're not going to do straight Alara Reborn limited. If you do, you're dumb because limited with just a small set is terrible (Everyone gets heavy multiples of all their cards)

Im going to be pretty upset and probally boycott the new set if they are no 1 drops. The first turn its a pretty important part of the game and with out a first turn play, it can really set you back. I just hope Wotc doesnt alienate some of their player base by not printing 1 drops. ;p

......Alara is a plane of heavy casting cost creatures and bomb hight casting cost spells as well..
you're asking for a first turn drop?
say hello to arcane sanctum and friends as pseudo-1 drops.

Its not like there arent 1 drops in shards and conflux. I cant imagine anybody playing straight-alara reborn. They really dont need 1 drops, cause if youre playing just alara reborn with somebody, even if the first turn may be important to people, its not like if you play first and dont drop a creature that the next person will be able to.

Like Dr. Jeebus said, unless you're drafting triple Alara Reborn (which would be terrible), this is not a problem.
In the block right now, the only one drop worth playing is Wild Nacatl. Sometimes you'll throw down Executioner's Capsule, but that depends on your hand.
So, having one drops is really not needed. I think they saw that no one was even playing one drops to begin with and decided to just eliminate them. I rarely ever play cards that have a 1 CMC.
Honestly I couldn't care less if there are one drops in Alara Reborn. If the entire block was like that I might be a bit annoyed. Honestly putting something out on the first turn against any competitive deck usually means you get one attack before it's straight to the grave for it.
Im going to be pretty upset and probally boycott the new set if they are no artifacts, lands, enchantments, sorceries, or instants. Card types its a pretty important part of the game and with out most card types, it can really set you back. I just hope Wotc doesnt alienate some of their player base by not printing Noncreatures. ;p
The 'backlash' to not printing one drops is HARDLY as bad as the above executed idea.
WoTC isn't printing one drops, deal with it. We have taplands, the format is slow due to fixing anyway. (We might get 1 mana cycling cards, just no one mana creatures, which really is NOT a big deal)

I think that 1 turn drops are great, last week I play a block constructed tournament, and everyone except me has multicolored deck, I have a mono white exlated deck and Akrasan Squire was damn good, because my oponents almost always started with a tap land, many of the decks in block were slow, but my white exalted deck was pretty fast, and I'm sad that there is not going to be any card for my deck in Alara Reborn.
First off, in any format that they bother to balance, the fact that ARB contains no one-drops doesn't matter at all, since all those formats contain other one-drops. Anyone playing a format like triple ARB-draft or just-ARB constructed knows that their format is going to be weird, and it's going to be weird for reasons much more powerful than a lack of one-drops.
Second, I can't beleive that anyone could seriously be upset that a small set incidentally has no one-drops in it. Heck, I bet that if it was a normal small set and it just incidentally had no one-drops in it, hardly anyone would notice or care. Nobody is claiming that spells that cost one mana aren't important for the game in general, it's just not important that there be some in every small set.
Now that i think about it Grixis could have a one drop by having a gold 2cc card with cycle 0 and 1cc to unearth.
way op since you draw a card and attack right off the bat for 1, but they need mythic spots.
Cycle for 0? Who WOULDN'T play that?! I'd run 4 in all my decks irreguardless of color, creature type, etc... since it reduces my deck size to 56 (effectively). Better than bauble.
I have to agree that there are not that many great one drops in Shards block, but it's not a big deal. This block is supposed to be about playing three or more colors so of course the environment is much slower.
I can't believe anyone is actually talking about cards that cycle for 0 or even 1 colorless without a drawback (pay life, etc.) there have only been five cards in the game so far that cycle for 1cc (the cycle of cycling lands) and i doubt they will be doing much of that - it is quite powerful. above all, if something cycles for anything less than 3 mana, you will NOT be getting a creature out of the deal.
people have mentioned the few one drops in limited that are good right now, but it seems a little preposterous that no one has mentioned the best and by far most valuable 1 drop in the block, if not all of type 2 - noble hierarch. furthermore, bloodhall ooze is excellent. and court homunculus is reasonably strong as well.
1 drops are not very important in limited or in an environment with many CIPT lands. anyone who can't enjoy a set without 1 drops needs to calm down or go away. the game is to be enjoyed, not to cause rage or anguish.
i also think for what it's worth that this could be a lot of fun and a great opportunity to try something new. those whose minds are closed find less surprise and less joy in life than those whose minds are open.

No, if that card existed it would be #1, before ardent plea.

Or even Cycling 1. When you cycle this card, put a 0/1 into play.

Wild Nacatl, Court Homunculus and Akrasan Squire are the only three one drops that are really worth playing in Shards limited.
