Evolving IP: Fine. You know that old-time creature type that you keep bugging me to bring back? Maybe we could find a space for it in the next block. Static IP: More than one? Evolving IP: We'll see.
If this meants what I think it means, there will be Merfolk in Ravnica.
I saw that too... I was trying to figure out what they might mean... I guess merfolk is a possiblity... are there any other old creature types that haven't been used in a while?
I was thinking it would be Saprolings. But I guess they won't work too well in Ravnica, now that I think about it.

If hefner was a rich, gay, playboy and had hot steamy sex with hot guys would you choose him? Of course not, mainly because im a straight male and find that stuff gross.

But how would you fit merfolk in a plane covered by a city? Besides, I thought they had made it clear that merfolk won't return. Kobolds are out of the question as well. Only three cards, never popular enough

Dwarves are more likely
Well, there is bound to be bodies of water on this plane, there could be underwater cities... but I dunno if they're going to do that
Ohhhhhhh merfolk would be awesome. I was thinking maybe it would be Angel though, since they aren't in Kamigawa and he says "not just one?" or something like that.
I got the impression that whichever type they were bringing back would be one from a while back, not just relatively recently. Merfolk and Townsfolk were my first guesses, actually. Gnomes being a pretty cool possibility, too. Wasn't there a recent article on mtg.com where someone mentioned that if they ever did gnomes again, they'd be in red and not artifacts?
Dwarves may be likely, but they had their big revival in the Odyssey block. Orcs are a maybe, even though I'm not sure how they fit in a world filled with cities. Ogres just got brought back for Kamigawa, so they can't be it. Perhaps Rebels and Mercenaries? I doubt they'd ever revive the Rebels, but maybe Mercs, they weren't too broken. Or perhaps Dryads, not that they were ever popular. MaRo could've been talking about any one of hundreds of creature types. But at least something's getting revived.
Did anyone here ever consider that Merfolk could be Black? I mean, think of it, fat ugly merfolk crusing in the sewers, dealing in information and humanoid blood, killing those who stray too far into the sewers, living off the flesh of ratlike bests living in the underbelly of the city.

Thats exactly my thoughts. I thought, what kind of creture lives in the city and one of teh first things that came to me was mercs. Too bad they weren't that strong of a creature type...

"Why do I fight?... I keep on fighting to find that answer."

black merfolk hahahahaha. i like your description. i can see them now....:smile2:
hmmm....personally i dont think it will be merfolk, but who knows? townsfolk or mercenary sounds the most logical to me
I was sure Wizards was doen killing off all Merfolk to the point that they are now extinct. Townsfolk is funny, and Mercenaries make sense along with Townsfolk in the city-world.
Merfolk would be pretty dope. I mean, why did they go through all the trouble of creating Tidal Courier if they didn't plan to bring them back someday...
Anyway...wtf were they thinking with Cephalids anyway...I mean, why not just do Merfolk instead? "Let's create a new green Elf-like race for one block, but they're not elves....we'll call them 'Arborians' instead. Then, after this block, we'll never do that creature type again. That way, they're totally inferior to Elves in pretty much every way, and no one will want to build a Tribal deck with them. What elegance!"
Oh they SO need to bring back PIRATES!
That way I could make a T2 Ninja/Pirate deck instead of it being Ext.
Vampires would be awesome to see come back too.
EDIT: I just dawned on something, WE NEED SQUIRRELS BACK!!!!!
Wow, I never thought of the "More than one?" thing that way, but I really have to say that it makes alot of sense, that would be rather clever on their part.....I'm putting my money 80% Merfolk, 20% Something Else.
:dance2:
YAY! Merfolk!
I'm definitely guessing Pirates. My reasoning is that the title of the piece mentions Pirates, but the article does not (that I saw.. maybe I missed it).
Yes my vote also goes for pirates, it's in the title of the article, it's a cool creature type which hasn't been used for a while and from what we know about ravnica it's a merchant guild based plane and where you get merchants you get bandits and PIRATES!
If this meants what I think it means, there will be Merfolk in Ravnica.
J/k.
I dont think Merfolk are comming back....
But who knows?

Whoops, I mean, umm...
I really love Merfolk, they actually did something usefull, unlike the moldy green plant men.

Mercs ARE free, though, since when Ravinca rotates in, I believe that Masques rotates out. No powerlevel issue there.
Though I don't see much point in making Mercs. I don't think many people want them back.
