i think its possible to see a smaller demon. a quick search of gather shows many angels with power or toughness less than 3. angelic protector, blinding angel, copper leaf angel, glimmering angel, sustainer of the realm, serra advocate, tormented angel, and all the voice of's. however, i think demons are meant to be portrayed as big and powerful in kamigawa, so chances are we wont see anything too small.

Yes, but most of those are reasonably old. I believe they decided Angels and Demons are too iconic to be tiny, or something like that.
All O-Kagachi kidding aside I have a few preictions for cards:
multicolored flips Angry Guy 1RR Creature-Human Warrior Haste, Trample Whenever ~ becomes untapped, flip it. 3/3 //Calm Guy, the Calm// [black] Legendary Creature- Human Wizard BB, tap: destroy target land. When opponent has less than 5 lands, flip. 2/2
Well, this is a little powerful, but there is nothing wrong with power (especially in this block). It seems plausible.
I dont know where else they can go with Arcane, it will probably be more of the same, but Ninjitsu will probably have ACCs. There will probably be a lot of spirit hate and/or less spirits.
Small demons wont work, becuase like angels, demons are supposed to be rare and powerful. Just becuase they cant print small demons doesnt mean they cant print good ones.:tongue2:

Your Ad Here!
(no seriously, PM me with something good and Ill put it here)
i think as people said, there'll be at least one more cycle.. the saviors.. perhaps creatures that flip once certain condition's met, something like a creature who after preventing up to say 5 damage to it's owner (something like beacon of destiny) it flips to its savior form, or "when a creature dealt damage by ~ is put into a graveyard from play put a _let's say_ courage counter on ~. if there are two or more courage counters on ~ flip it" and then it's savior side
and.. i would love to see terashii printed.. god.. i'll be so angry if they let him out, cause they already kicked o-kagachi (obviously like yawgmoth and characters like that)
so.. maybe terashii is something like
Terashii, Kami of the Sun 4WWW
Haste, Flying, First Strike, Trample, Vigilance
When Terashii, Kami of the Sun comes into play, sacrifice each other non-land permanent you control.
Whenever Terashii, Kami of the Sun deals damage to a player, you gain that much life
8/10
i think that's not too overopowered.. imho more than 8/10 would be too much for it's cc.. and those are rather white abilities.. and a good draw back (considering terashii's spells destructive behavior) and that text i think might fit in the card box
and it's just the way i see it.. my timmy fantasy

Any feudal lord can command the allegiance of a samurai. Konda's the equivalent of a shogun, give or take, but his existing doesn't mean there aren't a whole bunch of daimyo and minor nobles out there.
Yes, but I kind of doubt that we will be leaving the kingdom of Eiganjo for only the final set of the block. I think we will stay in the lands controlled by Konda, which is where the major battles are occuring thus far, is where O-Kagachi is, and is all the heroes resting place. Alos, most/ all of the minor nobles have taken refuge in Eiganjo Castle, I believe, and have now intrusted all their power with Konda.

I know it's unlikely that they would print something that would make Kitsune Mystic any good, but they did print Tallowisp, and if they were going to do it, the enchantment flavor of this block would be perfect. And it has a lot of white flavor, too. What do you think?
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'
apparently o-kagachi is the equvilant of a plainswalker, at least according to what i have heard of from WotC.
i would like for WotC to do a flip ninja or two, or at least 1 white ninja, which historically speaking it would be accurate (after a while, the diaymo hired all the ninjas to work for him, which the ninja posed as gardeners and incapacitated potential threats.)
a white flip ninja could work as so:
Elejano Gardener 1WW
Creature - Human soldier
First-strike
whenever Elejano Gardener attacks and is unblocked, you may pay WW to flip him.
1/1
--------------
Azaio, Diyamo's hand
Legendary Creature - Human Ninja
First-strike
Whenever Azaio deals combat damage to target player, you gain that much life.
3/4
correct me if i am wrong, but i belive that paying the WW per the flip activation condition it flips before the damage is delt, at any rate such ninjas would provide their own disguise, so no ninjitsu text would be needed.
also gold-colored flip cards may be the only way the flip-into-another-color idea could work, ala:
Ogre Bloodspiller 3RR
Creature - Ogre Barbarian
Trample
R, TAP: deal 2 damage to target creature
whenever a creature killed by ogre bloodspiller goes into the graveyard this turn, flip ogre bloodspiller.
3/4
-------------------------
Arismire, Blood Master
Legendary Creature - Ogre Shaman
Trample
BBB, Sacrifice a creature, TAP: Return Target creature card from your graveyard to your hand with a converted casting cost of X, where X is the sacrificed creature's power.
5/4
meh, my thoughts are done i suppose...
I seriously doubt that Konda will get another card. He's still purely a white character. People should really stop stereotyping evil to black and good to white. Konda is trying to do what he thinks is best to make his country prosper... only thing is he's going about it in the entirely wrong way.
I do think flip creatures are going to get another cycle, and my guess would be it's a spirit that flips to a legendary spirit. Dunno about the trigger though... although a legendary creature flipping back to a normal creature does sound plausible... maybe even creatures that can flip and then flip back...
It would be really cool if they printed some flip cards that required some kind of maintenace to stay flipped. Say:
Lone Bandit 1RR
Creature-Human Samurai
Bushido 1
When you control 4 or more creatures, flip ~.
2/1
///
Kuryo, Right Hand of Godo
Legendary Creature-Human Samurai
Bushido 3
1R: Target creature must attack this turn if able.
When you control fewer than 4 creatures, flip ~.
4/2
As Carrion Pigeons noted, we'll almost certainly see the local-enchantment subtheme pushed up a notch further. And going with the Urza's-love we've seen so far(Genjus which are like the Urza manlands mixed with the Rancor cycle; reprints of the Eradicate cycle), I wouldn't be surprised to see new Embraces(a la Serra's Embrace, Shiv's Embrace, Zephid's Embrace, etc.).
Embraces could be like:
Konda's Embrace 2WW (U)
Enchant Creature
Enchanted creature has Bushido 5 and Vigilance.
Kodama's Embrace 2GG (U)
Enchant Creature
Enchanted Creature gets +1/+1 for each Spirit you control.
Whenever you play a Spirit or Arcane spell, enchanted creature gets +1/+1 and trample until end of turn.
Hidetsugu's Embrace 2RR (U)
Enchant Creature
Whenever enchanted creature deals combat damage to a player, it deals to each player damage equal to half that player's life total, rounded down.
Stuff like that. The original embraces were all pretty dang crazy, so i'd expect new ones to be also

You may be right but then I always though "champions" and "betrayers" referred to the respective set of flip cards in the two sets. That is, the flip cards in CHK are "heroes" since they flip into stronger versions of themselves. The BOK flip cards however flip from non-spirit creatures to nasty spirits, hence "betrayers".
Kamigawa's monks don't have a unique ability, but I think that's just because R&D decided not to model them that way, not because monks in Japanese mythology are somehow less special.
Personally I think there won't be a new class but something strange will most likely happen with the spirits themselves. My guess is that spirits will be the saviours, turning away from their nasty ways; but then I haven't read the novels so I'm not qualified to guess
I think its a little late in the block to make a new creature type. I mean they will have little to build on. I would like to see monks given an ability.

That thread's about creature types. And I agree the discussion has turned too heavilly for that, but that's not all this thread is about. We're also discussing mechanics and single cards we might see. It's a broader topic than the other thread.
Anyway, I agree that the Flip Cards seem to be what the Champions and Betrayers are about.
Champions had people rising up out of anomimity to become Legendary warriors. Betrayers had Spirits 'Residing in the bodies' of people. Saviors will likely have another Flip Cycle dealing with that. After all, the Betrayers became Legendary because of the Spirits (Spirits and Arcane spells gave them ki counters), and the counters could be used in trecherous ways, ie countering spells, taking control of creatures, preventing damage, etc.
And the Champions became very adapt at what they were doing that flipped them. I still think Saviors will bring about Legendary-to-Legendary flips.
A mighty hero who somehow helps to save the day. I imagine they'd have abilities that affect the whole board. And I think the ability should be tied to chance myself.
Perhaps a: "[Cost]:[Ability], flip a coin. If it comes up heads, flip [this]."

- Flip creatures that start strong, that the opponent can do something to flip into weaker creatures (discard, lose X life, sac. a creature, etc.)
- More Blue/Black Ninja, maybe a rare white ninja, possibily a legendary ninja "Lord" + a uncommon ninja that mills opponenet's deck + a ninja that untaps after attack for blue, lifestealer and you-choose sacrificer for black
- new keyword mechanic that non-spirits can do X when spirits or arcane come into play (think the rare Goblin riding the Goat from BoK)
- alterative ways to flip a creature in the from of color-specific enhancements (gain X life, X lands, etc.)
well... I personaly think their should be Kitsune Ninja (perhaps 2... legendary) I even have names and cards for em'... but sadly... only blue and black Ninja -Ninja is both plural and singular-

As for flips, I think something like these might work. Chance will flip them, ending what they once were and turning them into Saviors of their Race for a turn. Best part is, you can’t have three more waiting, you can only get another into play when the first flips. And with the random flips, it could stay in your hand a good long time.
Blade-Fangs, Skullsnatcher 3B Legendary Creature – Rat Ninja
Ninjutsu – Sacrifice a creature. Whenever Blade-Fangs damages an opponent, flip a coin. If you win, flip Blade-Fangs. 2/2 ----- Spirit-Fang, Nezumi Savior Legendary Creature – Rat Spirit
Sacrifice Spirit-Fang: Rats you control are indestructible until end of turn. 1/4
With repeating themes for each of the creature types. Bushido for White, Ninjutsu for Black and Blue, Green will probably have enother "All snakes get," and Red, I don't know about. Maybe a multi for humans, but I doubt that entirely.
And White will never have Ninjas. Trickery isn't White's style.
Firsty i must apologize for posting while there was already another post.
Now i do believe that betrayers are ninja because ninja are eeeeeevil..
While on the other hand samurai are heroes and good guys generally. But it is the soratami and the nezumi that have helped the spirits thus betraying the humans whille on the other hand samurai try to help finally monks are totally neutral but i think that if needed they will help humans save the world thus becaming saviors of kamigawa.
If you look into Magic flavor, you'll realize there's very little which could truly be evil, and Ninjas are far from it. Though I've not read the books, I can see that perhaps Ink-Eyes might be considered a Betrayer, it doesn't seem like the other Ninjas are at all. The only cards that make sense as Betrayers are the ones that switch from human to spirit, it fits the flavor of betraying so well, I just wish there had been some that betray the other way around as well.

- new keyword mechanic that non-spirits can do X when spirits or arcane come into play (think the rare Goblin riding the Goat from BoK)
- alterative ways to flip a creature in the from of color-specific enhancements (gain X life, X lands, etc.)
