So from my point of view I really like that both foil versions are different in some ways! I still prefer the orig. Rav Foil one. But the darker foiling and the silver border makes it really nice for reanimator style, wich is kinda "black magic".
How's the difference between the two Sphinx? I'd be able to check it by myself at end of this week when I'm getting back home. Unfortunately my patience is not as big as normally.... hihi
Does anyone have a scan of Alara Foil Sphinx VS Graveborn?
EDIT: From the pictures I've checked on ebay Sphinx seems to have a gold frame instead of silver!? looks not bad as well...
EDIT: The black spell's I've seen so far have black frames, Inkewell has a blue one and Verdant Force a Green one.

I don't have an Alara foil Sphinx, so I can't compare. I can say that the gold pinline looks really sharp, and the orange skull doesn't look goofy, it looks nice.

This is my B/R Reanimator I mentioned in previous posts. I have had it since Legions (with a few minor changes). It has a few nice combos and some burn. Everything except Akroma and Razia can be hard cast in an emergency (which hasn't happened yet). The sideboard is a lot of discard. Fire and Lightning helped shine this deck up. I have a Graveborn coming and will get a few singles to further shine up this deck. I might even take out a Brimstone Dragon and replace it with a Sphinx of the Steel Wind. Again, it's too bad Necromancy or Dark Ritual or a Demonic Tutor or Vampiric Tutor wasn't in it. Still a nice Premium deck, though. I do think these will sell out, unlike the other Premium decks. Oh yeah, and Faithless Looting will probably end up in this deck or sideboard, too. 4 foils please!
Just wondering if you made this build only for kitchen tables? Or maybe flavourwise?
I know I'm "new" in Reanimator, but I'd never play Undead Gladiator, Rorix, Brimstone Dragon or Razia at all... In my opinion they're just bad cards.
And if I would play any non beater in this deck, there's only space for Doomed Necromancer imho.
And if I would play any non beater in this deck, there's only space for Doomed Necromancer imho.
I'd say that Putrid Imp is a better call. Doomed Necromancer costs 4 to play and activate, and he's gotta stick around for a turn. It's as slow as Dread Return and Zombify, and they're just too expensive. The Imp is a one-drop that can drop the fatty in your yard.
Ideally, you drop the fatty in the yard turn 1, and reanimate turn 2. OK, ideally you go "Swamp, Dark Ritual, Entomb, Exhume, your go," on turn 1, but that's the godhand.
Although thinking about it a little more, for Kitchen Table reanimator I'd probably play no more than 2-3 bombs and 2-3 Entombs, and I'd go heavy on the disruption/reanimation, and plan on stealing opposing creatures, in which case I'd got with Shriekmaws.

Do you guys think that these will eventually get the 50% price reduction that Fire and Lightning got? I kinda want to get 4 of these, but I'm a little iffy about dropping so much on them.
I hope so! I always pick up one of these at very reduced prices in a few months.

Always varies by location. I've never actually seen these for sale in big box stores (nor duel decks either) in a 200-mile radius in my area (obviously I haven't scoured every big box store, but a random sampling of the ones nearest me and people I know).

I've seen lots of new mechanics over the years, but most I haven't used, so this deck hasn't really been updated. Yeah, it's a fun deck, not a tournament deck in todays environment. Undead Gladiator isn't my first choice, but I haven't seen anything that I like either. I think Faithless looting will be replacing it, though, since it will give me both draw and discard. Just a Hasty Flying Fatty deck. If I can't get one on the battlefield by at least turn 2, it may be too late. I wouldn't call those bad cards when you can cast them for 3, but if you have to hard cast them, they are very overcosted.
I haven't been in a Tournament since 2005. A friend owned a shop until a massive flood downtown destroyed his dream, so I just stopped doing any serious play. I just look at the new Blocks and mechanics as they come along. If I like something, I drop it in a deck, like the 2 Mox Opals I put in my Ravager deck. My 2 sons also still play, but only on the "kitchen table" (as you put it) with their friends.

Another godhand is SwampCabal TherapyDark RitualEntombExhume (or Animate Dead) and most any hasty fatty. If you know what your opponent has, sometimes you can even steal his fatty with Cabal Therapy and the Animate Dead on turn one. Between those two combos, I have scored a godhand multiple times.

I don't really get how PDS Fire and Lightning is considered "bad." If you don't have ANY of those cards, which I didn't, it was totally worth it to buy four. There was some chaff, TO BE EXPECTED, but really, bad? Chain Lightning, Price of Progress, Barbarian Ring, Figure of Destiny, Fireblast, Keldon Marauders, Lightning Bolt, Mogg Fanatic, Ball Lightning, Hellspark Elemental, Grim Lavamancer, and Boggart Ramgang are all good cards AT WORST. And that last bit was for wags who would say that Ramgang, Hellspark, and Fanatic are no longer relevant. On the whole it was a good product. Should we hope that each PDS that follows is as good as Graveborn? Yes. Does that make Fire and Lightning "bad?" No. Jesus you people have entitlement issues.

i grabbed 2 from walmart on black friday that was all they had. im waiting to goi back and see if they have it in stock or ill be ordering the next 2 online

Agreed. Fire and Lightning has a lot of Legacy playable cards for the competitive Burn deck... it's a good deck

What about the Slivers deck? Would that one be worth getting? Ever since I started Magic about a year and a half ago, I've been kinda interested in that deck.
Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.

Depends what you play. Slivers is strictly a kitchen-table deck, and needs a lot of work to make it more competitive. If that's what interests you, then get it

Slivers are also very polarizing. Everyone in my area who doesn't play them, hates them with a fiery passion.
Got 4x graveborn personally, using store credit mostly, and man was it worth it for me. The alt art therapies look gorgeous, I finally get to play with entomb, good times.
Our Target and Walmart haven't received any yet, I've checked pretty much daily.
My Target had about 8 of these yesterday in the midst of Xmas shopping craziness. I had to pick up one for the heck of it. They still had New Phryexia fatpacks and a bunch of Commander decks and duel decks. And I live in a really populated area, I was surprised they had all that stuff still.
I asked for this for xmas. Is it good enough to use at a small local tournament right out of the box? I have never played a reanimater deck but I feel I have grasp enough of the strategy to pilot it well. Also should I try to pick up multiple copies (walmart has tons0 and if so how much to open and strip and should i buy one to let sit for a while?

Well to be fair it's a good deck, but not THAT good. Most tournament worthy reanimator builds are UB and run Forces and other ways to protect themselves. It's a good deck for kitchen table fun though. And yes, you would want 4 copies for Entomb alone.
